Maize is a major staple crop widely used as food,animal feed,and raw materials in industrial ***-density planting is a major factor contributing to the continuous increase of maize ***,high planting density usually triggers a shade avoidance response and causes increased plant height and ear height,resulting in lodging and yield *** plant height and ear height,more erect leaf angle,reduced tassel branch number,earlier flowering,and strong root system architecture are five key morphological traits required for maize adaption to high-density *** this review,we summarize recent advances in deciphering the genetic and molecular mechanisms of maize involved in response to high-density *** also discuss some strategies for breeding advanced maize cultivars with superior performance under high-density planting conditions.

High-pressure chemistry has provided a huge boost to the development of scientific ***-induced emission(PIE)in halide perovskites is gradually showing its unique charm in both pressure sensing and optoelectronic device ***,the PIE retention of halide perovskites under ambient conditions is of great commercial ***,we mainly focus on the potential applications of PIE and PIE retention in metal halide perovskites for scintillators and solid-state *** on the performance requirements of scintillator and single-component white light-emitting diodes(WLEDs),the significance of PIE and PIE retention is critically clarified,aiming to design and synthesize materials used for high-performance optoelectronic *** perspective not only demonstrates promising applications of PIE in the fields of scintillators and WLEDs,but also provides potential applications in display imaging and anti-counterfeiting of PIE ***,solving the scientific disputes that exist under ambient conditions is also simply discussed as an outlook by introducing high-pressure dimension to produce PIE.

Converting low-grade thermal energy into electricity through ther-mogalvanic cells offers a promising approach to addressing environ-mental challenges[1].However,thermogalvanic cells face obstacles,due to limited thermopower,connected to differences in solvent-dependent entropy(ΔS)among redox anions and varying concentration ratios(ΔC)between hot and cold sides[2,3].A typical strategy to enhance the thermopower involves the improvement ofΔS of the redox ***-fortunately,ΔC tends to approach zero spontaneously due to the ther-modynamic instability and redox ion ***,the challenge is to maintain significantΔC for both redox ions and unravel the intricate modulation mechanisms[4].

Reservoir computing (RC) is a bio-inspired neural network structure which can be implemented in hardware with ease. It has been applied across various fields such as memristors, and electrochemical reactions, among which the micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) is supposed to be the closest to sensing and computing integration. While previous MEMS RCs have demonstrated their potential as reservoirs, the amplitude modulation mode was found to be inadequate for computing directly upon sensing. To achieve this objective, this paper introduces a novel MEMS reservoir computing system based on stiffness modulation, where natural signals directly influence the system stiffness as input. Under this innovative concept, information can be processed locally without the need for advanced data collection and pre-processing. We present an integrated RC system characterized by small volume and low power consumption, eliminating complicated setups in traditional MEMS RC for data discretization and transduction. Both simulation and experiment were conducted on our accelerometer. We performed nonlinearity tuning for the resonator and optimized the post-processing algorithm by introducing a digital mask operator. Consequently, our MEMS RC is capable of both classification and forecasting, surpassing the capabilities of our previous non-delay-based architecture. Our method successfully processed word classification, with a 99.8% accuracy, and chaos forecasting, with a 0.0305 normalized mean square error (NMSE), demonstrating its adaptability for multi-scene data processing. This work is essential as it presents a novel MEMS RC with stiffness modulation, offering a simplified, efficient approach to integrate sensing and computing. Our approach has initiated edge computing, enabling emergent applications in MEMS for local computations.

Zero-dimensional metal halides are of unique structures and tunable photoluminescence properties,showing great potential applications such as light-emitting diodes(LEDs)and ***,we successfully synthesized Cu^(+)doped(MA)_(2)ZnCl_(4)metal halides by a slow evaporation solvent *** introduction of Cu^(+)results in sky-blue self-trapped exciton emission in(MA)_(2)ZnCl_(4)at 486 nm at room temperature,and a photoluminescence quantum yield is as high as 54.9%.Interestingly,at low temperatures,Cu^(+)-doped(MA)_(2)ZnCl_(4)exhibits two emission peaks located at 482 and 605 nm,*** temperaturedependent dual emission indicates two excited state structures that exist on the triplet excited-state potential energy *** addition,the temperature sensor we fitted has good performance(Sr=1.65%·K^(−1)),which is the first attempt in Cu^(+)doped Znbased metal *** work enriches the family of sky-blue metal halides and provides a promising strategy for building skyblue LEDs.

Bamboo plants are an essential component of tropical ecosystems,yet their vulnerability to climate extremes,such as drought,is poorly understood due to limited knowledge of their hydraulic *** pergracile,a commonly used tropical bamboo species,exhibited a substantially higher mortality rate than other co-occurring bamboos during a severe drought event in 2019,but the underlying mechanisms remain *** study investigated the leaf and stem hydraulic traits related to drought responses,including leaf-stem embolism resistance(P50leaf;P50stem) estimated using optical and X-ray microtomography methods,leaf pressure-volume and water-releasing ***,we investigated the seasonal water potentials,native embolism level(PLC) and xylem water source using stable *** found that *** exhibited strong resistance to embolism,showing low P50leaf,P50stem,and turgor loss point,despite its rapid leaf water ***,its leaves displayed greater resistance to embolism than its stem,suggesting a lack of effective hydraulic vulnerability segmentation(HVS) to protect the stem from excessive xylem *** the dry season,approximately 49% of the water was absorbed from the upper 20-cm-deep soil ***,significant diurnal variation in leaf water potentials and an increase in midday PLC from 5.87±2.33% in the wet season to 12.87±4.09%in the dry season were *** summary,this study demonstrated that the rapid leaf water loss,high reliance on surface water,and a lack of effective HVS in *** accelerated water depletion and increased xylem embolism even in the typical dry season,which may explain its high mortality rate during extreme drought events in 2019.

It is still a lack of bifunctional catalysts for ammonia oxidation reaction(AOR)and hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)due to their different reaction *** this work,P is doped into PtZn alloy by calcination with NaH_(2)PO_(2) as P source to induce the lattice tensile strain of Pt and the electronic interaction between P and Zn,which optimizes the AOR and HER activity *** sample with the optimal P content can drive the AOR peak current density of 293.6 mA·mgPt^(-1),which is almost 2.7 times of *** HER,the overpotential at^(-1)0 mA·cm^(-2) is only 23 mV with Tafel slope of 34.1 mV·dec^(-1).Furthermore,only 0.59 V is needed to obtain 50 mA·mgPt^(-1) for ammonia electrolysis under a two-electrode ***,this work shows an ingenious method to design bifunctional catalysts for ammonia electrolysis.

This paper concerns ultimately bounded output-feedback control problems for networked systems with unknown nonlinear dynamics. Sensor-to-observer signal transmission is facilitated over networks that has communication *** transmissions are carried out over an unreliable communication channel. In order to enhance the utilization rate of measurement data, a buffer-aided strategy is novelly employed to store historical measurements when communication networks are inaccessible. Using the neural network technique, a novel observer-based controller is introduced to address effects of signal transmission behaviors and unknown nonlinear *** the application of stochastic analysis and Lyapunov stability, a joint framework is constructed for analyzing resultant system performance under the introduced controller. Subsequently, existence conditions for the desired output-feedback controller are delineated. The required parameters for the observerbased controller are then determined by resolving some specific matrix inequalities. Finally, a simulation example is showcased to confirm method efficacy.

Does City Shape Affect China's Economic Development?

This paper constructs a general equilibrium spatial urban model and measures city geometric compactness using the patch-shape index based on evidence from satellite imagery and basic vector maps of *** adopts the ordinary least squares and instrumental variable approaches to examine the effect of city shape on the urban development of 279 Chinese cities at or above the prefecture *** empirical results show that there was a significant negative correlation between city shape and economic ***,every 1 percentage point increase in the patch-shape index led to a decrease in city-scale GDP by 0.009 percent,housing prices by 0.044 percent,and wages by 0.024 *** compact urban layouts attracted an inflow of households and firms,stimulated city economic growth,and were associated with increased housing prices and wage *** paper considers the cities'initial conditions,trends in population changes(expanding,shrinking,and stagnant cities),and geographic factors,and finds that the results are *** array of policy implications can be drawn from the research.
