Is posterior nasal neurectomy the definitive treatment for intractable allergic rhinitis: A prospective study

Objectives: Allergic rhinitis (AR) has a significant effect on the quality of life and accounts for unproductive times at work and school, causes disturbed sleep patterns and can lead to daytime somnolence. It is fairly prevalent in the world with medical management still being the mainstay of treatment. Patients suffer for a significant number of years before they undergo surgical management for their intractable rhinitis. Thus, this prospective observational study was conducted to reinforce the proficiency of posterior nasal neurectomy in being an effective method for ending this ***: Thirty patients with troublesome intractable rhinitis underwent posterior nasal neurectomy. Pre- and postoperative Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) and Rhinoconjunctivitis Quality of Life Questionnaire (RQLQ) scores were compared to study the improvement in nasal and ocular symptoms. Each domain of these scores was studied ***: The mean reduction in the VAS was from 6.76 ± 0.884 preoperatively to a mean of 5.33 ± 0.675 at 1 month, 3.81 ± 0.462 at 3 months and 2.53 ± 0.405 at 6 months postoperatively. The mean RQLQ score was reduced from preoperative 4.22 ± 1.091 to a mean of 3.82 ± 1.072 at 1 month, 3.55 ± 1.063 at 3 months and 3.18 ± 1.173 at 6 months postoperatively. Thus, a statistically significant improvement was seen in both mean VAS and RQLQ scores (P < 0.001), and also when each domain was compared ***: Endoscopic posterior nasal neurectomy may be an effective way of improving symptoms in patients with intractable AR and freeing them from long-term medical regimes, thereby improving their quality of life.

Design of current mirror integration ROIC for snapshot mode operation

Current mirror integration（CMI） read out integrated circuit（ROIC） topology provides a low input impedance to photo-detectors and provides large injection efficiency, large charge handling capacity and snapshot mode operation without in-pixel opamps. The ROIC described in this paper has been implemented with a modified current mirror circuit, with matched PMOS pairs for detector input stage and its biasing. The readout circuit has been designed for 30×30μm^2 pixel size, 4×4 array size, variable frame rate, 5 Me charga pixel per second（Mpps）.Experimental performance of the test chip has achieved 15 Me charge handling capacity, a high dynamic range of83 dB, 99.8% linearity and 99.96% injection efficiency. The ROIC design has been fabricated in 3.3 V 1P6 MUMC180 nm CMOS process and tested up to 5 MHz pixel rate at room and at cryogenic temperature.

Proactive Connection Recovery Strategy with Recovery Time Constraint for Survivable Elastic Optical Networks

In this study,bulk samples of multiferroic with compositional formula,BiFeO3 and Bi_(0.825)A_(0.175)FeO_(3)(A=La,Pb),were synthesized by solid state reaction route.X-ray diffraction(XRD)along with the Rietveld refinement revealed the distorted rhombohedral(R3c)structure for pristine BiFeO3 and Bi0.825La0.175FeO3 and tetragonal(P4/mmm)for Bi_(0.825)Pb_(0.175)FeO_(3)*** support the structural results,bond length between atoms for both of the compounds was calculated.A change in Raman mode position in BiFeO3(BFO)has been observed with La and Pb substitution from Raman scattering measurements and also recommended a structural change with rare earth and metal ion substitution at Bi *** the frequency dependent dielectric constant and dielectric loss plots,a decrease in dielectric values with increase in frequency was observed for both of the *** microelectronic devices,porous ceramics with lower value of dielectric constant are most ***,further studies are also needed to carefully tune the magnetoelectric properties and structural distortion after La/Pb substitution in BFO.

This study describes the designing steps of the proposed self-cleaning system for the photovoltaic(PV)system and experimentally investigates the effectiveness of the proposed self-cleaning PV sliding system for solar power plants under all Indian climate *** investigate the performance of the proposed self-cleaning PV sliding system,we used three PV panels of 20 W with a sliding structure and another set of three PV panels of 20 W with a traditional(fixed)technique,and recorded the output power for the period of December 2019 to April *** experimental results show that the proposed self-cleaning PV sliding system improved efficiency by 18.3%,13.3%and 6.4%,respectively,in the summer,winter and post-monsoon seasons when compared to the fixed PV *** results also revealed that energy consumption was very low when compared to the amount of energy *** proposed system not only cleans the PV system,but also protects it from *** results of this study show that there is a significant improvement in PV efficiency and thus an increase in electricity production under all climate conditions.

Drought-Tolerant Pseudomonas spp. Improve the Growth Performance of Finger Millet(Eleusine coracana(L.) Gaertn.)Under Non-Stressed and Drought-Stressed Conditions

Application of plant growth-promoting bacteria(PGPB)is an environmentally sustainable option to reduce the effects of abiotic and biotic stresses on plant growth and *** 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid(ACC)deaminase-producing drought-tolerant bacteria were isolated from a rain-fed agriculture field in the Central Himalaya of kumaun region,Uttarakhand,India and evaluated for their efficiency in improving finger millet(Eleusine coracana(L.)Gaertn.)plant growth under non-stressed and drought-stressed *** bacteria withstood a substrate metric potential of -1.0 MPa(30% polyethylene glycol 8000)and therefore were considered *** strains were identified as Pseudomonas *** fatty acid methyl ester analysis and 16S rRNA gene *** ACC deaminase activity of these strains was characterized at the biochemical level,and the presence of acd S gene,the structural gene for ACC deaminase,was confirmed by the polymerase chain *** sets of pot trials in glass house were set up,one for normal(non-stressed)and the other for drought-stressed *** 5 weeks,one set of plants was subjected to drought stress for 5 d,while the other set continued to be *** same growth parameters were recorded for both sets of plants after 40 d of plant *** results of pot trials showed that treatments inoculated with ACC deaminase-producing bacterial strains significantly improved the growth performance of finger millet plants and foliar nutrient content as compared to uninoculated treatments under both non-stressed and drought-stressed *** addition,a significant increase in antioxidant activity was observed,wherein bacterial stain inoculation improved plant fitness by protecting it from oxidative damage induced by drought.

Sensitivity of Labile Soil Organic Carbon Pools to Long-Term Fertilizer, Straw and Manure Management in Rice-Wheat System

Labile soil organic carbon （SOC） pools, estimated through chemical fractionation techniques, are considered sensitive indicators of management-induced changes in quality and composition of soil organic matter. Although the impacts of organic manure and crop residue applications on C sequestration in rice-wheat system are fairly well documented, their influence on labile SOC pools is relatively less known. Impacts of organic manure, rice straw, and inorganic fertilizer nitrogen （N） applications on soil total organic carbon （TOC） and SOC pools including water-extractable organic C （WEOC）, hot water-soluble organic C （HWOC）, potassium permanganate- oxidizable organic C （kMnO4-C）, microbial biomass C （MBC）, mineralizable organic C （Cmin）, and the oxidizable fractions of decreasing oxidizability （easily-oxidizable, oxidizable, and weakly-oxidizable） were investigated in an ll-year field experiment under rice-wheat system. The field experiment included treatments of different combinations of farmyard manure, rice straw, and fertilizer N application rates, with C inputs estimated to be in the range from 23 to 127 Mg ha-1. After 11 years of experiment, WEOC, HWOC, and kMnO4-C were 0.32%-0.50%, 2.2%-3.3%, and 15.0%-20.6% of TOC, respectively. The easily-oxidizable, oxidizable, and weakly-oxidizable fractions were 43%-57%0, 22%-27%, and 10%-19% of TOC, respectively. The applications of farmyard manure and rice straw improved WEOC, HWOC, kMnO4-C, easily-oxidizable fraction, Cmin, and MBC, though the rates of change varied considerably from -14% to 145% and -1170 to 83% of TOC, respectively. At the C input levels between 29 and 78 Mg C ha-1 during the ll-year period, the greatest increase was observed in WEOC and the minimum in kMnO4-C. Water-extractable organic C exhibited a relatively greater sensitivity to management than TOC, suggesting that it may be used as a sensitive indicator of management-induced changes in soil organic matter under rice-wheat system.
