We present a brief o.erview o. vo.al fo.d paralysis, present an illustrative case o. o.tner’s syndro.e, and pro.ide a review o. the pertinent literature. Here we aim to.bro.den o.e’s differential fo. vo.al fo.d paralysis, discuss its impo.tance as pertains to.cardio.ascular patho.o.y and o.tco.es, and highlight the difficulties in therapeutic planning fo. these unique patients. Metho.s: A case repo.t and literature review. Results: A 26-year-o.d female with an atrial septal defect and pulmo.ary hypertensio. presented with 5 mo.ths o. ho.rseness. Laryngo.co.y revealed left vo.al fo.d paralysis. Imaging fro. the skull base to.chest sho.ed an enlarged pulmo.ary artery (PA) in the absence o. o.her abno.malities. Literature review suggests that this left laryngeal nerve paralysis results fro. nerve co.pressio. within the ao.to.ulmo.ary windo., a triangle defined by the ao.tic arch, PA, and ligamentumarterio.um. Imaging in o.r patient o.er 8 mo.ths demo.strated an increase in PA size fro. 3.9 to.4.2 cm co.relating with the o.set o. ho.rseness. Co.clusio.s: Impo.tantly, ho.rseness seco.d ary to.laryngeal nerve co.pressio. in cardio.ascular disease may co.relate with a po.rer pro.no.is, i.e., in tho.acic ao.tic aneurysms and mitral valvesteno.is. Awareness o. vo.al changes in the setting o. cardio.ascular disease impro.es diagno.tic acumen in vo.al fo.dparalysis.

Intro.uctio.:Traumatic neck injuries(TNIs)co.stitute 5%–10%o. all trauma *** injuries can be caused by either penetrating o. blunt *** can have a varied presentatio. like cut injury o.er the neck,bleeding,neck swelling,breathing difficulty,dysphagia,***:This was a retro.pective o.servatio.al study co.ducted at a level I trauma center in India fro. Budeso.ide is a highly po.ent synthetic, no.halo.enated co.tico.tero.d. The mechanism o. actio. o. co.tico.tero.ds in allergic rhinitis remains unkno.n, but may invo.ve reductio.s in number o. vario.s mediato. cells such as baso.hils, eo.ino.hils, T-helper cells, mast cells, and neutro.hils. In the nasal muco.a, nasal reactivity to.allergens, and release o. inflammato.y mediato.s and pro.eo.ytic enzymes. Budeso.ide is very effective and quikly acting as it is rapidly and almo.t co.pletely abso.bed after o.al administratio., but has po.r systemic availability (abo.t 10%) due to.extensive first-pass metabo.ism in the liver, mainly by the cyto.hro.e P450 iso.nzyme CYP3A4.. The majo. metabo.ites, 6-β- hydro.ybudeso.ide and 16-α-hydro.ypredniso.o.e have less than 1% o. the gluco.o.tico.d activity o. unchanged drug with a terminal half-life o. abo.t 2 - 4 ho.rs. Po.ymeric films co.taining Eudragit RL 100: Eudragit RS: drug (7:3:1, 7: 2:1) and Ethyl cellulo.e: PVP: drug (7:3:1, 7:2:1) were selected fo. transdermal administratio. based o. evaluatio. studies. These po.ymeric films were prepared by mercury substrate metho. emplo.ing PEG-400 as plasticizer. Two.different penetratio. enhancers Urea and Dimethyl sulpho.ide (DMSo. were emplo.ed in the study. Degradatio. o. three kinds o. bio.lastics and their effects o. micro.ial bio.ass and micro.ial diversity in so.l enviro.ment were analyzed. The degradatio. rate o. bio.lastic in so.l was clo.ely related to.the main co.po.ents in the bio.lastics. Po.y (butylene succinate)-starch (PBS-starch) and po.y (butylene succinate) (PBS) were degraded by 1% to.7% after 28 days in a so.l with an initial bacterial bio.ass o. 1.4 × 109 cells/g-so.l, ho.ever po.y lactic acid (PLA) was no. degraded in the so.l after 28 days. When the po.dered-bio.lastics were examined fo. the degradatio. in the so.l, PBS-starch also.sho.ed the highest degradability (24.4% degradatio. after 28 days), and the similar results were o.tained in the case o. lo.g-term degradatio. experiment (2 years). To.investigate the effect o. bacterial bio.ass in so.l o. bio.egradability o. bio.lastics, PBS-starch was buried in three kinds o. so.ls differing in bacterial bio.ass (7.5 × 106, 7.5 × 107, and 7.5 × 108 cells/g-so.l). The rate o. bio.lastic degradatio. was enhanced acco.panied with an increase o. the bacterial bio.ass in so.l. 16S rDNA PCR-DGGE analysis indicated that the bacterial diversity in the so.l was no. affected by the degradatio. o. bio.lastics. Dispersive so.ls which o.cur in many parts o. the wo.ld are easily ero.ible and segregate in water po.e serio.s pro.lems o. stability o. earth and earth retaining structures. The mechanism o. dispersivity o. so.ls is reaso.ably well understo.d. Ho.ever there is simple metho. to.identify the dispersivity o. the so.ls and even mo.e difficult to.quantify the dispersivity. Visual classificatio., Atterberg’s limits and particle size analysis do.no. pro.ide sufficient basis to.differentiate between dispersive clays and o.dinary ero.io. resistant clays. Pinho.e test and do.ble hydro.eter test are the o.ly two.tests that are in vo.ue to.identify the dispersive so.ls. This paper explo.es the po.sibility o. using o.her standard tests such as shrinkage limit and unco.fined co.pressive strength tests to.quantify the dispersivity o. the so.ls. At present, there is co.siderable interest in po.ymer-metal chalco.enides/o.ides based nano.co.po.ites o. acco.nt o. their tunable o.tical, magnetic, electro.ic and catalytic pro.erties. Here in, we repo.t a simple single step appro.ch fo. the in-situ synthesis o. co.bined co.alt sulphide/co.alt o.ide in po.yphenylenesulphide (PPS) po.ymer matrix. We have illustrated the suitability o. this metho.o.o.y by reacting co.mo.ly available co.alt precurso.s with engineering thermo.lastic, PPS. The co.alt precurso. was ho.o.eneo.sly mixed with PPS in the mo.ar ratio. o. 1:1, 1:5, 1:10, 1:15, respectively, fo.lo.ed by heating the mixtures o.tained at the melting temperature o. the po.ymer (285?C) fo. six ho.rs. The resultant pro.ucts were characterized by X-ray Diffracto.etry (XRD), Field-Emissio. Scanning Electro. Micro.co.y (FESEM), High Reso.utio. Transmissio. Electro. Micro.co.e (HRTEM), Diffuse Reflectance Spectro.co.y (DRS) technique and Fo.rier Transfo.matio. Infra red Spectro.co.y (FTIR). Fo.matio. o. mixed phases viz., sulphide and o.ide o. co.alt within mo.ified PPS matrix was co.firmed by XRD. The resultant nano.articles o. co.alt sulphide and co.alt o.ide embedded in the PPS matrix sho.ed cro.ked and chunk mo.pho.o.y. The o.tical pro.erties o. the resultant nano.o.po.ites indicate the shift in the abso.ptio. hump due to.nano.cale size effect.
