Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)is considered the causative pathogen of coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)and has become an international danger to human *** respiratory transmission and symptoms are still the essential manifestations of COVID-19,the digestive system could be an unconventional or supplementary route for COVID-19 to be transmitted and manifested,most likely due to the presence of angiotensin-converting enzyme 2(ACE2)in the gastrointestinal *** addition,SARS-CoV-2 can trigger hepatic injury via direct binding to the ACE2 receptor in cholangiocytes,antibodydependent enhancement of infection,systemic inflammatory response syndrome,inflammatory cytokine storms,ischemia/reperfusion injury,and adverse events of treatment *** symptoms,including anorexia,nausea,vomiting,and diarrhea,which are unusual in patients with COVID-19,and some digestive signs may occur without other respiratory ***,SARS-CoV-2 can be found in infected patients’stool,demonstrating the likelihood of transmission through the fecal-oral *** addition,liver function should be monitored during COVID-19,particularly in more severe *** review summarizes the evidence for extra-pulmonary manifestations,mechanisms,and management of COVID-19,particularly those related to the gastrointestinal tract and liver.

The Egyptian Nubian Shield(ENS)represents the northwestern part of the Arabian-Nubian Shield and the northern extension of the East African *** ENS is regarded as being formed due to northward-directed escape *** is characterized by mild accretion and suture zones dominated by major strike-slip zones with a commonly sinistral sense of movement;some shear zones display a dextral sense of *** is dominated by gneisses and migmatites in the south,arc volcaniclastic metasediments and highly dismembered ophiolites in the central parts,whereas its northern part is dominated by late-to post-tectonic *** southern Sinai,the Neoproterozoic rocks are grouped into four complexes,namely Feiran–Solaf,Sa’al–Zaghra,Kid and *** ENS ophiolites were formed between 730–750 Ma,mainly in a supra-subduction zone *** ENS has undergone a Neoproterozoic deformation history involving three successive phases:(1)Early N–S shortening phase(D1),(2)Syn-accretionary phase(D2)and(3)Post-accretionary phase(D3).The initial island-arc stage(780–730 Ma)is a N–S shortening phase initiated by collision between the Eastern Desert tectonic terrane to the north with both the Gebeit and Gabgaba terranes to the south(830–720 Ma).During the arc-splitting and back-arc spreading stage(730–620),voluminous syn-tectonic granitoids intruded into the ENS(750–610 Ma).The E–W-directed compressional/transpressional phase(620–450 Ma)led to the overall uplift of the central part of the ENS and consequently the development and exhumation of the core complexes in oblique convergent *** E–W intense shortening deformation resulted also in the formation of NW-and NE-striking sinistral and dextral strike-slip shear zones,*** latest periods of the E–W-directed compressional/transpressional regime were characterized by deposition of the molasse-type Hammamat Sediments unconformably over the Dokhan Volcanics,or interbedded with *** combined thrusting,folding and sin

Pam3CSK4 enhances adaptive immune responses to recombinant Mycobacterium bovis bacille Calmette-Guérin expressing Plasmodium falciparum C-terminus merozoite surface protein-1

Objective: To determine the effects of toll-like receptor 2(TLR-2) agonist, Pam3 CSK4, on cellular and humoral immune response against recombinant Mycobacterium bovis bacille Calmette-Guérin(rBCG) expressing the C-terminus of merozoite surface protein-1 of Plasmodium ***: Six groups of mice(n=6 per group) received intraperitoneal phosphate buffered saline T80(PBS-T80), BCG or rBCG in the presence or absence of Pam3 CSK4. Enzymelinked immunosorbent assay was carried out to measure serum total IgG, IgG1, IgG2 a, and Ig G2 b production. Spleens were also harvested and splenocytes were co-cultured with rBCG antigen for in vitro determination of IL-4 and IFN-γ via enzyme-linked immunosorbent ***: The production of total IgG and the isotype IgG1, IgG2 a and IgG2 b was significantly higher in rBCG-immunised mice than in the BCG and PBS-T80-immunised mice, and Pam3 CSK4 further enhanced their productions. A similar pattern was also observed in IFN-γ production. Moreover, there was no significant difference in IL-4 production in all groups either in the presence or absence of Pam3 ***: We present evidence of the adjuvant effects of TLR-2 agonist in enhancing the production of total IgG, IgG1, IgG2 a, IgG2 b, as well as IFN-γ in response to rBCG. However, the presence or absence of Pam3 CSK4 had no effect on IL-4 production.

Predictors and Effects of Persistent Hypertension after Successful Treatment of Coarctation of the Aorta

Background:Coarctation of the aorta is a congenital heart disease that sometimes remains clinically silent until adulthood,usually presenting with arterial *** is well known that after coarctation treatment,many patients remain hypertensive despite successful *** this study we approached the predictors and effects of residual hypertension after successful coarctation ***:It was a cross sectional observational study involving 50 patients who underwent Coarctation repair/angioplasty in Ain Shams university *** divided the patients into two groups(hypertensive and normotensive)and we studied their demographic data(e.g.,age,gender,age at first repair,follow up period,etc.)to conclude the possible predictors of persistent hypertension in such *** also performed full echocardiographic assessment including 3D speckle tracking echocardiography to detect subtle changes in left ventricular systolic ***:Hypertensive patients had significantly higher BMI(29.1 kg/m^(2))as compared to normotensives(24 kg/m^(2)),pdinal strain).The incidence of bicuspid aortic valve was significantly higher in the hypertensive group,yet it was not an independent predictor of persistent ***:The predictors for residual hypertension post successful CoA repair were late intervention and higher *** aortic valve was more common in the hypertensive *** the effects of such disease domain,treated CoA patients with persistent hypertension tended to have higher LV mass index and lower values of LV deformation.

The oil industries are an important part of a country’s *** crude oil’s price is influenced by a wide range of ***,how accurately can countries predict its behavior and what predictors to employ are two main *** this view,we propose utilizing deep learning and ensemble learning techniques to boost crude oil’s price forecasting *** suggested method is based on a deep learning snapshot ensemble method of the Transformer *** examine the superiority of the proposed model,this paper compares the proposed deep learning ensemble model against different machine learning and statistical models for daily Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries(OPEC)oil price *** results demonstrated the outperformance of the proposed method over statistical and machine learning *** precisely,the proposed snapshot ensemble of Transformer method achieved relative improvement in the forecasting performance compared to autoregressive integrated moving average ARIMA(1,1,1),ARIMA(0,1,1),autoregressive moving average(ARMA)(0,1),vector autoregression(VAR),random walk(RW),support vector machine(SVM),and random forests(RF)models by 99.94%,99.62%,99.87%,99.65%,7.55%,98.38%,and 99.35%,respectively,according to mean square error metric.

Induction of sub-G0 arrest and apoptosis by seed extract of Moringa peregrina（Forssk.） Fiori in cervical and prostate cancer cell lines

Objective: This study investigated cytotoxicity and induction of apoptosis in human cervical cancer cells(HELA) and prostate cancer cells(PC-3) using the most active fraction of Moringa peregrina seed ***: Dried and powdered seeds were extracted using 95% ethanol. The total ethanolic extract was further dissolved in distilled water and separated into petroleum ether, chloroform, ethyl acetate and aqueous extracts. Based on the results of in vitro anticancer studies of all extracts, the most highly active extract was selected for evaluation of apoptosis induction and cell cycle analysis on HELA and PC-3 cells at its half maximal inhibitory concentration using flow cytometry;DNA fragmentation by agarose gel electrophoresis and the expression of protein were measured by Western ***: The chloroform fraction from the ethanolic extract of M. peregrina(CFEE) was the most active antitumor fraction. The selectivity index, determined using the normal Vero cell line, indicated that CFEE had a high degree of selectivity against HELA and PC-3 cells. CFEE induced apoptosis, confirmed by cell cycle arrest at sub-G0 phase and DNA fragmentation. CFEE induced an increase in mRNA expression of caspase-3, a decrease in Bcl-2 mRNA expression, and decreased ATP levels. CFEE increased protein expression of caspase-3 and decreased protein expression of poly-ADP-ribose polymerase-1(PARP-1).Flow cytometric analysis showed an appreciable increase in the number of cells in the early apoptotic stage in CFEE-treated HELA and PC-3 cells. CFEE treatment significantly increased lipid peroxidation(malondialdehyde level) in HELA and PC-3 ***: Seed extract of M. peregrina displayed a significant antitumor effect through apoptosis induction in HELA and PC-3 cells.

Foraging ecology and occurrence of 7 sympatric babbler species （Timaliidae） in the lowland rainforest of Borneo and peninsular Malaysia

Understanding foraging strategies of birds is essential to understanding mechanisms of their community assembly. To provide such information on a key Southeast Asian rainforest family, the babblers （Timaliidae）, we evaluated foraging behavior and abundance in 7 morphologically and behaviorally similar sympatric species （Cyanoderma erythropterum, C. rufifrons, Stachyris maculata, S. nigricollis, S. poliocephala, Macronus ptilosus, and Mixornis gularis） in 5 habitats defined by structural complexity：（1） continuous native rainforest, （2） logged native rainforest fragments, （3） mature industrial tree plantation, （4） young industrial plantation, and （5） oil palm plantation. Enough data were obtained to compare abundance in all 7 species and foraging behavior in 5. All species were common in forest fragments and mature industrial tree plantations and less so in continuous rainforest and young industrial plantations; only M. gularis occurred in oil palm. In terms of foraging, M. gularis was the greatest generalist; C. rufifrons foraged mainly on live leaves in the forest midstory; and S. maculata, C. eryth- ropterum, and M. ptilosus foraged mainly on dead leaves suspended in understory vegetation at sig- nificantly different heights. The dead-leaf substrate depends on a rich supply of falling leaves and ex- tensive understory structure, conditions most common in native forest and old industrial plantations, and less so in mature forest, young plantations, and oil palm. Because of the importance of foraging data to understanding and managing biodiversity, we encourage the development of foraging fields in eBird （***）, so that birdwatchers may help collect these relatively rare data.

Development of Machine Learning Regression Models for Predicting the Performance of Nanofibrous Scaffolds for Skin Tissue Engineering

Tissue engineering is a branch of regenerative medicine that harnesses biomaterials and stem cells to utilize the body’s natural healing responses to regenerate tissue and organs. Skin components can be rebuilt by safeguarding their structure and function with the help of advanced scaffold manufacturing techniques. It is important to combine medical concerns with the vast explosion of artificial intelligence concepts to preserve human life and improve health. Currently, machine learning can make reliable contributions to critical decision-making in a wide range of applications. Regression machine learning models rely on correlations, associations, and other relationships between a dependent variable and a group of features. The main objective of this research was to study the effects of applying machine learning techniques on the performance of nanoscaffolds. A regression tree, a random forest, AdaBoost, and a gradient boosting algorithm were applied to the dataset and clustering data. By comparing our proposed models with the relevant studies to verify each machine learning model’s optimal performance, the AdaBoost technique was shown to have the highest accuracy (98.58%, 99.6%, 98.51%, and 98.85%), with a mean absolute percentage error of 1.41% and anR2 value of 0.999, which indicates a strong correlation between the predicted and actual values for the whole dataset and all subgroups.

Is toxoplasmosis a potential risk factor for liver cirrhosis?

Objective:To document Toxoplasma gondii(***) antibody status in patients with liver disease,blood samples were taken from 180 hepatic patients and 180 healthy ***:Toxoplasma IgG antibody was detected using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and histopathological assessment of liver biopsy METAVIR score was ***:*** IgG antibodies were found in 32.8%of patients and in 22.2%of controls(P=0.02).Toxoplasma seropositivity was significantly associated with lymphadenopathy,history of blood transfusion and reflex impairment in *** hepatitis C virus(HCV)and chronic HCV-related cirrhosis groups compared to chronic HBV and chronic HBV-related cirrhosis groups expressed significantly higher prevalence of *** seropositivity(odds ratio(OR) =4;95%confidence interval(CI):1.3-12.6;P=0.013,OR=4.8;95%CI:1.5-14.9;P=0.006,respectively).Within the chronic HCV group,*** seropositivity significantly associated disease evolution as regards to METAVIR histopathological system for fibrosis and inflammation(OR=19.4;95%CI:2.3-165.2;P=0.0008,OR=0.29;95%CI:0.1-0.8;P=0.01,respectively).Albumin,international normalized ratio(INR) and platelets count were the laboratory parameters significantly altered in Toxoplasma-positrvc chronic HCV patients(P=0.00 l,0.03,0.04,respectively).Child-Pugh scoring for cirrhosis in chronic HCV group placed the majority of seropositive patient in class C with significant statistical difference compared to Child A reference group(OR= 0.08;95%67:0.01-0.5;P=0.003).Conclusions:Toxoplasma seropositivity was high in patients with cirrhosis and associated higher grades of inflammation and necrosis signifying disease evolution,suggesting that cirrhotic patients may thus form a risk group for toxoplasmosis.

Serum ferritin in neonatal cholestasis: A specific and active molecule or a non-specific bystander marker?

Background: Serum ferritin(SF) and consequently hepatic iron have long been considered important in liver fibrosis progression. They have been studied in different liver diseases with no previous reports in neonatal cholestasis(NC). This study aimed to measure SF in different etiologies of NC and investigate its relation to hepatic iron and fibrosis. Methods: SF was measured in 75 infants, including 50 with NC and 25 with sepsis. SF was compared between these two groups. Biochemical parameters, hepatic iron grades, and liver fibrosis and other histopathological characteristics and correlated with SF were assessed in NC group. Finally, a comparison between intrahepatic cholestasis and obstructive etiology was performed. Results: SF was elevated in NC(1598 ± 2405 ng/mL) with no significant difference from those with sepsis( P = 0.445). NC and sepsis constituted augmenting factors leading to more elevation of SF(2589 ± 3511 ng/mL). SF was significantly correlated with hepatic iron grades( r = 0.536, P < 0.0 0 01) and a cut-off value of 803.5 ng/mL can predict higher grades( ≥ grade 3) of iron deposition with sensitivity of 100%, specificity of 70% and accuracy of 85%. Moreover, SF was significantly higher( P < 0.0 0 01) in those with intrahepatic cholestasis(2602 ± 3154 ng/mL) and their prevalent pathological findings of giant cell transformation( P = 0.009) and hepatocyte swelling( P = 0.023) than those with obstructive etiology(672 ± 566 ng/mL) and their prevalent pathological findings of ductular proliferation( P = 0.003) and bile plugs( P = 0.002). SF was unrelated to the grade of liver fibrosis( P = 0.058). Conclusions: SF is non-specifically elevated in NC, with positive correlation to hepatic iron grades. SF ≥ 803.5 ng/mL can predict higher grades( ≥ grade 3) of hepatic iron. However, an active role of increased SF and hepatic iron in disease progression remains questionable.
