Effects of methyl palmitate and lutein on LPs-induced acute lung injury in rats

AIM: To investigate the effects of methyl palmitate and lutein on lipopolysaccharide(LPs)-induced acute lung injury(ALI) in rats and explore the possible mechanisms. METHODs: Male sprague-Dawley rats were divided into 4 groups:(1) control;(2) LPs;(3) Methyl palmitate; and(4) Lutein groups. Methyl palmitate(300 mg/kg, ip) was administered 3 times per week on alternating days while lutein(100 mg/kg, oral) was given once daily. After 1 wk of vehicle/methyl palmitate/lutein treatment, ALI was induced by a single dose of LPs(7.5 mg/kg, iv). After 24 h of LPs injection, animals were sacrificed then biochemical parameters and histopathology were assessed. REsULTs: Treatment with methyl palmitate attenuated ALI, as it significantly decreased the lung wet/dry weight(W/D) ratio, the accumulation of the inflammatory cells in the bronchoalveolar lavage fluid(BALF) andhistopathological damage. However, methyl palmitate failed to decrease lactate dehydrogenase(LDH) activity in BALF. On the other hand, lutein treatment produced significant anti-inflammatory effects as revealed by significant decrease in accumulation of inflammatory cells in lung, LDH level in BALF and histopathological damage. Methyl palmitate and lutein significantly increased superoxide dismutase(sOD) and reduced glutathione(GsH) activities with significant decrease in the lung malondialdehyde(MDA) content. Importantly, methyl palmitate and lutein decreased the level of the inflammatory cytokine tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α) in the lung. Lutein also reduced LPs-mediated overproduction of pulmonary nitrite/nitrate(NO-2/NO-3), which was not affected by methyl palmitate pretreatment. CONCLUsION: These results demonstrate the potent protective effects of both methyl palmitate and lutein against LPs-induced ALI in rats. These effects can be attributed to potent antioxidant activities of these agents, which suppress inflammatory cell infiltration and regulated cytokine effects.

BACKGROUND Childhood bronchial asthma(BA)is a chronic inflammatory respiratory *** conditions,including zinc deficiency,can affect such allergic *** To outline the difference in serum zinc levels between asthmatic children and healthy *** A cross-sectional study was carried out at Children’s Hospital,Cairo University,investigating serum zinc levels in children with BA(n=40)and healthy children(n=21).Other markers included serum ferritin,iron,hemoglobin(Hb),and immunoglobulin E(IgE)*** t-tests and Mann-Whinny tests were used for *** Kruskal-Wallis test was applied to compare serum ferritin and IgE levels with regard to asthma ***'s rank correlation was performed to explore the relationship between serum ferritin levels and both iron and Hb levels in asthmatic *** Children with BA had higher levels of zinc,yet the difference was not significant(P=0.115).serum ferritin and IgE levels were significantly higher in asthmatic children(P=0.006 and 0.001,respectively),yet their levels did not differ significantly by severity(P=0.623 and 0.126,respectively).There was a nonsignificant weak correlation between serum ferritin levels and both serum iron and Hb *** serum zinc levels do not seem to differ between asthmatic children and healthy *** ferritin levels may be a marker of asthma *** IgE levels are not markers of asthma severity.

Recent methodological advances in quantitative wood anatomy have provided new insights into the climatic responses of radial growth at the scale of cell structure of tree rings. This study considered long-term chronologies of tracheid measurements, indexed by a novel approach to separate their specific climatic responses from signal recorded in cell production(closely reflected in tree-ring width). To fill gaps in understanding the impact of climate on conifer xylem structure, scots pine(Pinus sylvestris L.)trees > 200 years old were selected within the forest-steppe zone in southern siberia. such habitats undergo mild moisture deficits and the resulting climatic regulation of growth processes. Mean and maximum values of cell radial diameter and cell wall thickness were recorded for each tree *** a low level of climatogenic stress, components of cell chronologies independent of cambial activity were separated to obtain significant climatic signals revealing the timing of the specific stages of tracheid differentiation. Cell expansion lasted from mid-April to July and was impacted similarly to tree-ring width(stimulated by precipitation and stressed by heat), maximum cell size formed late June. A switch in the climatic responses of mean anatomical traits indicated transition to latewood in mid-July. secondary wall deposition lasted until mid-september, suppressed by end of season temperatures. Generally, anatomical climatic responses were modulated by a less dry May and september compared with summer months.

A Comparative Analysis of Contemporary Methods of Final Disposition

This article illustrates the procedural specificities of the following eight contemporary methods of final disposition: (1) Natural Organic Reduction, (2) Alkaline Hydrolysis, (3) Plastination, (4) Body Farm, (5) Cryonics, (6) Memorial Reefs, (7) Organic Burial Pods, and (8) space Funeral. After comparing the differences in the duration of body-processing time of all eight methods, Alkaline Hydrolysis was determined to take the shortest length of time to complete (6 - 8 hours), while Plastination was deemed to take the longest length of time to complete (1 year). Additionally, with regard to comparing the differences in cost to the consumer, Plastination and Body Farm were both deemed to be of the lowest cost ($0/body donation only), while Cryonics was deemed to be the most expensive ($200,000+ due to ongoing subfreezing storage and maintenance fees). Finally, after comparing the differences in each state’s set of sanctioned methods of final disposition, it was established that the seventeen states that restrict their residents’ options the most, permitting only two out of the eight contemporary options, include Alaska, Arkansas, Delaware, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, south Dakota, and Wisconsin, and that the two states that restrict their residents the least, permitting six out of the eight contemporary options include California and Florida.

The undesirable dendrite growth induced by non-planar zinc(Zn)deposition and low Coulombic efficiency resulting from severe side reactions have been long-standing challenges for metallic Zn anodes and substantially impede the practical application of rechargeable aqueous Zn metal batteries(ZMBs).Herein,we present a strategy for achieving a high-rate and long-cycle-life Zn metal anode by patterning Zn foil surfaces and endowing a Zn-Indium(Zn-In)interface in the *** accumulation of electrons in the microchannel and the zincophilicity of the Zn-In interface promote preferential heteroepitaxial Zn deposition in the microchannel region and enhance the tolerance of the electrode at high current ***,electron aggregation accelerates the dissolution of non-(002)plane Zn atoms on the array surface,thereby directing the subsequent homoepitaxial Zn deposition on the array ***,the planar dendrite-free Zn deposition and long-term cycling stability are achieved(5,050 h at 10.0 mA cm^(−2) and 27,000 cycles at 20.0 mA cm^(−2)).Furthermore,a Zn/I_(2) full cell assembled by pairing with such an anode can maintain good stability for 3,500 cycles at 5.0 C,demonstrating the application potential of the as-prepared ZnIn anode for high-performance aqueous ZMBs.

Background severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2(sARs-CoV-2)is responsible for an important mortality rate *** aimed to evaluate the actual imputability of sARs-CoV-2 on the mortality rate associated with sARs-CoV-2-related illnesses in the pediatric intensive care unit(PICU).secondary objectives were to identify risk factors for *** This national multicenter comparative study comprised all patients under 18 years old with positive sARs-CoV-2 polymerase chain reactions(PCRs)[acute corona virus disease 2019(COVID-19)or incidental sARs-CoV-2 infection]and/or pediatric inflammatory multisystem syndrome(PIMs)recorded in the French PICU registry(PICURe)between september 1,2021,and August 31,*** patients were classified and compared according to their living status at the end of their PICU *** patients were evaluated by four experts in the field of pediatric infectiology and/or pediatric intensive *** imputability of sARs-CoV-2 as the cause of death was classified into four categories:certain,very probable,possible,or unlikely,and was defined by any of the first three *** There were 948 patients included of which 43 died(4.5%).From this,26 deaths(67%)could be attributed to sARs-CoV-2 infection,with an overall mortality rate of 2.8%.The imputability of death to sARs-CoV-2 was considered certain in only one case(O.1%).Deceased patients suffered more often from comorbidities,especially heart disease,neurological disorders,hematological disease,cancer,and *** of the deceased patients were admitted for pediatric inflam-matory multisystem syndrome(PIMs).Mortality risk factors were male gender,cardiac comorbidities,cancer,and acute respiratorydistress *** sARs-CoV-2 mortality in the French pediatric population was *** though the imputability of sARs-Cov-2 on mortality was considered in almost two-thirds of cases,this imputability was considered certain in only one case.

随着我国学校课程改革的深度推进,学科教育论课程的重构正在成为基础教育现代化发展的一个重要的研究议题。基于对历史的尊重和对未来的观照,探索主体教育视域下学科教育论课程建设及其教学实践范式的构建,是推进我国高品质教育实施的重要内容。从时代转型分析和把握学科教育论在推进国家教育现代化发展中承担的责任,可以重新解读改革开放以来我国学科教育论课程发展的历史演进逻辑,揭示中国学科教育论课程体系基于主体教育视域实现研究转型的生成发展过程。通过全面梳理我国基础教育教学改革实践经验,沉淀出学科教育论课程实践中有待进一步完善的要素结构及其运作范式,继而通过学科教育论课程的重构,彰显主体教育视野下学科教育论的中国特色和当代形态。

serotonin is one of the significant signaling molecules used by several neural systems in the gut and brain. This study aimed to develop a novel and potent tracer for targeting, detecting, and imaging serotonin receptors(5-HTRs), which is a promising tool in the determination of the receptor’s function and relationship with the diseases related to serotonin and its receptor dysfunction. serotonin was effectively labeled via a direct electrophilic substitutional reaction using an oxidizing agent such as iodogen with 125I in a neutral medium, and 125I-serotonin was achieved with a maximum labeling yield of 91 ± 0.63% with in vitro stability up to 24 h. Molecular modeling was conducted to signify 125I-serotonin structure and confirm that the radiolabeling process did not affect serotonin binding ability to its receptors. Biodistribution studies show that the maximum gastro intestinal tract uptake of 125I-serotonin was 17.8 ± 0.93% ID/organ after 30 min postinjection and the tracer’s ability to pass the blood–brain barrier. Thus, 125I-serotonin is a promising single photon emission computed tomography tracer in the detection of 5 HTRs.
