Impact of Tropospheric Ozone on Summer Climate in China

The spatial distribution, radiative forcing, and climatic effects of tropospheric ozone in China during summer were investigated by using the regional climate model Reg CM4. The results revealed that the tropospheric ozone column concentration was high in East China, Central China, North China, and the Sichuan basin during summer. The increase in tropospheric ozone levels since the industrialization era produced clear-sky shortwave and clear-sky longwave radiative forcing of 0.18 and 0.71 W m^（–2）, respectively, which increased the average surface air temperature by 0.06 K and the average precipitation by 0.22 mm day^（–1） over eastern China during summer. In addition, tropospheric ozone increased the land–sea thermal contrast, leading to an enhancement of East Asian summer monsoon circulation over southern China and a weakening over northern China. The notable increase in surface air temperature in northwestern China, East China, and North China could be attributed to the absorption of longwave radiation by ozone, negative cloud amount anomaly, and corresponding positive shortwave radiation anomaly. There was a substantial increase in precipitation in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River. It was related to the enhanced upward motion and the increased water vapor brought by strengthened southerly winds in the lower troposphere.

Thermal degradation characteristics and products obtained after pyrolysis of specific polymers found in Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment

Modem societies strongly support the recycling practices over simple waste accumulation due to environmental harm caused. In the framework of sustainable recycling of plastics from WEEE, pyrolysis is proposed here as a means of obtaining secondary value-added products. The aim of this study was to investigate the thermal degradation and the products obtained after pyrolysis of specific polymers found in the plastic part of WEEE, using thermogravimetric analysis and a pyrolizer equipped with a GC/MS. polymers studied include ABS, HIpS, pC and a blend having a composition similar to that appearing in WEEE. It was found that, pC shows greater heat endurance compared to the other polymers, whereas ABS depolymerizes in three-steps. The existence of several polymers in the blend results in synergistic effects which decrease the onset and final temperature of degradation. Moreover, the fragmentation occurred in the pyrolyzer, at certain temperatures, resulted in a great variety of compounds, depending on the polymer type, such as monomers, aromatic products, pnenoJlc compounds and hydrocarbons. The main conclusion from this investigation is that pyrolysis could be an effective method for the sustainable recycling of the plastic part of WEEE resulting in a mixture of chemicals with varying composition but being excellent to be used as fuel retrieved from secondary recycling sources.

Inflation, Monetary policy and Reserve Requirement Ratio Adjustments in China

This study examines the relationship between inflation rate and reserve requirement ratio in China. Our findings show that there is a long-term relationship between reserve requirement ratio and inflation rate. In the short-run, the central bank adjusts the reserve requirement ratio upwards faster than they adjust them downwards. The asymmetric adjustment reflects the fact the Chinese economy was overheating over the past few years as a result of the stimulus package implemented after the onset of the global financial crisis and inflation was threatening the stability of the society.

Considering temporally evolving processes,the search for optimal input selection in Machine Learning(ML)algorithms is extended here beyond(i)the readily available independent variables defining the process and(ii)the dependent variables suggested by feature extraction methods,by considering the time scale that characterizes the *** analysis is based on the process of homogeneous autoignition,which is fully determined by the initial temperature T(0)and pressure p(0)of the mixture and the equivalence ratio𝜙that specifies the initial mixture *** aim is to seek the optimal input for the prediction of the time at which the mixture *** Multilayer perceptron(MLp)and principal Component Analysis(pCA)algorithms are employed for prediction and feature extraction,*** is demonstrated that the time scale that characterizes the initiation of the process𝜐𝑓(0),provides much better accuracy as input to MLp than any pair of the three independent parameters T(0),p(0)and𝜙or their two principal ***,it is shown that using𝜐𝑓(0)as input results in a coefficient of determination R 2 in the range of 0.953 to 0.982,while the maximum value of R 2 when using the independent parameters or principal components is *** physical grounds,on which the success of𝜐𝑓(0)is based,are *** results suggest the need for further research in order to develop selection methodologies of optimal inputs among those that characterize the process.

A striking confluence between theory and observations of high-mass X-ray binary pulsars

We analyze the most powerful X-ray outbursts from neutron stars in eleven Magellanic high-mass X-ray binaries and three pulsating ultraluminous X-ray sources. Most of the outbursts rise to Lmax which is about the level of the Eddington luminosity, while the remaining more powerful outbursts also appear to recognize that limit when their emissions are assumed to be anisotropic and beamed toward our direction. We use the measurements of pulsar spin periods ps and their derivatives ps to calculate the X-ray luminosities Lp in their faintest accreting （＂propeller-line＂） states. In five cases with unknown ps, we use the lowest observed X-ray luminosities, which only adds to the heterogeneity of the sample. Then we calculate the ratios Lp/Lmax and we obtain an outstanding confluence of theory and observations from which we conclude that work done on both fronts is accurate and the results are trustworthy： sources known to reside on the lowest Magellanic propeller line are all located on/near that line, whereas other sources jump higher and reach higher-lying propeller lines. These jumps can be interpreted in only one way, higher-lying pulsars have stronger surface magnetic fields in agreement with previous empirical results in which ps and Lp values were not used.

Delayed gastric emptying is associated with pylorus-preserving but not classical Whipple pancreaticoduodenectomy:A review of the literature and critical reappraisal of the implicated pathomechanism

pylorus-preserving pancreaticoduodenectomy （pppD） is nowadays considered the treatment of choice for periampullary tumors, namely carcinoma of the head, neck, or uncinate process of the pancreas, the ampulla of Vater, distal common bile duct or carcinoma of the peri-Vaterian duodenum. Delayed gastric emptying （DGE） comprises one of the most troublesome complications of this procedure. A search of the literature using pubmed/IVledline was performed to identify clinical trials examining the incidence rate of DGE following standard Whipple pancreaticoduodenectomy （pD） vs pppD. Additionally we performed a thorough in-depth analysis of the implicated pathomechanism underlying the occurrence of DGE after pppD. In contrast to early studies, the majority of recently performed clinical trials demonstrated no significant association between the occurrence of DGE with either pD or pppD. pD and pppD procedures are equally effective operations regarding the postoperative occurrence of DGE. Further randomized trials are required to investigate the efficacy of a recently reported （but not yet tested in largescale studies） modification, that is, pppD with antecolic duodenojejunostomy.

Heterotopic pancreas in the stomach:A case report and literature review

Ectopic pancreas is defined as pancreatic tissue found outside the usual anatomic location of the pancreas. It is often an incidental finding and can be found at different sites in the gastrointestinal tract. It may become clinically evident when complicated by pathologic changes such as inflammation, bleeding, obstruction, and malignant transformation. In this report, a 40 years old woman with epigastric pain due to ectopic pancreatic tissue in the stomach is described. The difficulty of making an ac- curate diagnosis is highlighted. The patient has remained free of symptoms since she underwent wedge resection of the lesion three years ago. Frozen sections may help in deciding the extent of resection intraoperatively. Al- though ectopic pancreas is rare, it should be considered in the differential diagnosis of a submucosal gastric tumour.

AIM:To compare diverse endoscopic interventions in the management of occluded uncovered self-expanding metal stents(SEMSs) that had been placed for palliative treatment of unresectable malignant biliary ***:A retrospective review was undertaken in 4 tertiary endoscopic centers to determine optimal management of different types of occluded *** technical success of performed treatment in occluded SEMSs,the patency of the stent,the need for re-intervention and the financial costs of each treatment were ***:Fifty four patients were included in the analysis;21 received Hanaro,19 Wallstent and 14 *** the relief of obstruction,a plastic stent was inserted in 24 patients,a second SEMS in 25 and mechanical cleaning was performed in 5 *** overall median second patency rates between second SEMSs and plastic stents did not differ(133 d for SEMSs vs 106 d for plastic stents;p = 0.856).Similarly,no difference was found between the overall survival of SEMS and plastic stent groups,and no procedure-related complications *** cost analysis showed that successive plastic stenting was a cost-saving strategy at least in ***:Insertion of uncovered SEMSs or plastic stents is a safe and effective treatment for occluded uncovered SEMSs;insertion of plastic stents appears to be the most cost-effective strategy.

Meta-analysis of electron cyclotron resonance absorption features detected in high-mass X-ray binaries

Using recent compilations of detailed X-ray observations and spectral models of exceptional quality, we record the electron cyclotron resonance absorption(ECRA) features that have been detected in 45 pulsating high-mass X-ray binaries(HMXBs) and ultraluminous X-ray(ULX) sources harboring neutron stars, although seven of these detections are still questionable and another 21 are single and/or not independently confirmed. From the comprehensive catalogs of Jaisawal & Naik and Staubert et *** from several additional recent observations, we produce two lists of HMXB ECRA sources: a list of 17 sources in which multiple ECRA lines or single very low-energy lines are seen, in which we can reasonably assume that the lowest energy reveals the fundamental cyclotron level for each source;and a"contaminated" list of 38 sources including the 21 detections of single ECRA lines that may(not) be higherlevel harmonics. Both lists confirm a previous result that we have obtained independently by modeling the propeller lines of Magellanic HMXB pulsars: the surface dipolar magnetic fields B*of HMXB neutron stars are segregated around five distinct values with B*= 0.28 ± 0.08, 0.55 ± 0.11, 1.3 ± 0.37, 3.0 ± 0.68 and 7.9 ± 3.1, in units of TG. However, an explanation of this phenomenon is currently lacking. We have found no correlation between these B*values and the corresponding observed spin periods, spin period derivatives, orbital periods, maximum X-ray luminosities, neutron star masses or companion star masses.
