The establishment of a postoperative pancreatic fistula(pOpF)is considered the most common and,concomitantly,the most serious complication associated with pancreaticoduodenectomy(pD).The search for either technical modifications of the operative technique or pharmaceutical interventions that could possibly aid in decreasing the incidence of this often-devastating complication appears *** stenting of the pancreatic duct,with the use of either internal or external stents,has been evaluated in this *** theory,it is an approach that could eliminate many pathophysiological factors responsible for the occurrence of a *** purpose of the present study was to review the current data regarding the role of pancreatic duct stenting on the incidence of pOpF,after pD,by using pubMed and Reference Citation *** general,previous studies seem to highlight the superiority of external stents over their internal counterparts in regard to the incidence of pOpF;this is at the cost,however,of increased morbidity associated mainly with the stent ***,the use of an internal stent is a less invasive approach with acceptable results and is definitely deprived of the drawbacks arising through the complete diversion of pancreatic juice from the gastrointestinal *** in mind the scarcity of high-quality data on the subject,an approach of reserving stent placement for the high-risk for pOpF patients and individualizing the selection between the use of an internal or an external stent according to the distinct characteristics of each individual case scenario appears appropriate.

perovskite solar cells(pSCs)have made great advances in terms of power conversion efficiency(pCE),yet their subpar stability continues to hinder their *** interface between the perovskite layer and the charge-carrier transporting layers plays a crucial role in undermining the stability of *** this work,we propose a strategy to stabilize high-performance pSCs with pCE over 23%by introducing a cesium-doped graphene oxide(GO-Cs)as an interlayer between the perovskite and hole-transporting *** GO-Cs treated pSCs exhibit excellent operational stability with a projected T80(the time where the device pCE reduces to 80%of its initial value)of 2143 h of operation at the maximum powering point under one sun illumination.

The present study aims to assess the externalities of a ski resort,that is planned to be built at Tzoumerka mountains,in *** research relies on the Contingent Valuation method,which indirectly estimates the economic value of environmental and other nonmarket assets,based on the expressed preferences of members of a social *** investigation was based on primary *** core idea of questionnaire’s design,is subject to the use of a double WTp(willingness to pay)question,aiming at the monetary assessment of the attitude of the residents,regarding the upcoming infrastructure project,taking into account both its positive and its negative *** on the attitude of the survey respondents,they were asked to decide if they wish to offer an amount of money either to promote or to prevent the construction of the ski *** and non-parametric models were then applied in order to calculate in economic terms the expressed opinion of the *** primary question to be answered is whether the willingness to build the ski resort holds a higher economic value than the desire to prevent *** to the results of the survey,the vast majority of residents(92.4%)supported the idea of building the ski resort,projecting their apparent desire for the tourist and economic development of the *** reinforcement of the construction idea of the project was estimated on average at €378,*** very low proportion of the participants who disagreed with the project(5%),did not allow the economic assessment of its prevention,leaving room for further research into the application of Contingent Valuation method and its contribution in cost-benefit analysis and decision making,regarding upcoming projects.

In every emergency medical situation,access to emergency medical services is an inalienable right of any *** average acceptable time to provide first aid assistance is 60 *** this paper,the possibility of using helicopters for air travel in mountainous areas was examined for the first time for all of Greece and especially for a mountainous and isolated area such as the Municipality of ***,the time distance-virtual distance,from the hospitals was calculated at the national level of Greece,with an acceptable first contact time of 60 minutes(golden hour),i.e.,less than two hours from the nearest hospital to the incident and back to the hospital and the relevant conclusions are ***,the case study of Municipality of Agrafa,one of the most mountainous areas in Greece,was *** time distance of the settlements from the nearest primary health point,namely the primary Health Centre(pHC)of West Fragkista,was calculated and the transportation by ground means was compared with the corresponding time by flying means,to investigate the contribution of air transportation or not,of the timely arrival of the patients in the appropriate health ***,possible helicopter landing locations were identified,using a geographic information system to facilitate the process of air medical transportation in the Municipality of Agrafa.

AIM: To develop a multiplex reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-pCR) method detecting cir-culating tumor cells in the peripheral blood of colorectal cancer (CRC) patients. METHODS: peripheral blood samples were collected from 88 CRC patients and 40 healthy individuals from the blood donors' clinic and subsequently analyzed by multiplex RT-RCR for the expression of carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), cytokeratin 20 (CK20) and epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mRNA. The analysis involved determining the detection rates of CEA, CK20 and EGFR transcripts vs disease stage and overall survival. Median follow-up period was 19 mo (range 8-28 mo). RESULTS: Rates of CEA, CK20 and EGFR detection in CRC patients were 95.5%, 78.4% and 19.3%, respectively. CEA transcripts were detected in 3 healthy volunteer samples (7.5%), whereas all control samples were tested negative for CK20 and EGFR transcripts. The increasing number of positive detections for CEA, CK20 and EGFR transcripts in each blood sample was positively correlated with Astler-Coller disease stage (ppreoperative serum levels of CEA (p=0.029) in CRC patients. Data analysis using Kaplan-Meier estimator documented signif icant differences in the overall survival of the different CRC patient groups as formed according to the increasing number of positivity for CEA, CK20 and EGFR transcripts. CONCLUSION: These data suggest that multiplex RTpCR assay can provide useful information concerning disease stage and overall survival of CRC patients.

Human pressure on mountain resources poses certain threats to their natural and man-made environment. Although there are many parameters involved, one of the driving forces behind this situation is the emphasis given so far only to the market value of mountain goods and services, ignoring the true social and environmental costs of using mountain resources. Towards this direction, the use of non-market valuation techniques could prove to be beneficial. Bearing in mind the above remarks, the paper presents an application of the Contingent Valuation Method, which aims at estimating the monetary value of a mountain settlement’s vernacular architecture, namely Metsovo. For this purpose, the survey focuses on Metsovo visitors’ willingness to pay a single annual voluntary contribution to an institution that would be founded in order to undertake all necessary actions required to preserve the town’s traditional character. The results are very promising and indicate that vernacular architecture holds a significant economic value that could justify the implementation of appropriate policies towards the protection of vernacular settlements in mountain areas.
