AIMTo compare and correlate optic nerve head parameters obtained by Heidelberg retina tomograph (HRT) with short-wavelength automatic perimetry (SWAP) indices in eyes with ocular hypertension (OHT).METHODSOne hundred and forty-six patients with OHT included in the present study. All subjects had reliable SWAP and HRT measurements performed within a 2wk period. The eyes were classified as normal/abnormal according to visual field criteria and Moorfields regression analysis (MRA). Correlations between visual field indices and HRT parameters were analyzed using Pearson correlation coefficient (r).RESULTSTwenty-nine eyes (19.9%) had SWAP defects. Twenty-nine eyes (19.9%) were classified as abnormal according to global MRA. Six eyes (4.1%) had abnormal global MRA and SWAP defects. The k statistic is 0.116 (P=0.12) indicating a very poor agreement between the methods. No statistical significant correlation between HRT and SWAP parameters was *** defects may coexist with abnormalities of optic disc detected by HRT in eyes with OHT. In most eyes, however, the two methods detect different glaucoma properties.

The arrival of both high-throughput and bench-top next-generation sequencing technologies and sequence enrichment methods has revolutionized our approach to dissecting the genetic basis of cancer. These technologies have been almost invariably employed in wholegenome sequencing (WGS) and whole-exome sequencing (WES) studies. Both WGS and WES approaches have been widely applied to interrogate the somatic mutational landscape of sporadic cancers and identify novel germline mutations underlying familial cancer syndromes. The clinical implications of cancer genome sequencing have become increasingly clear, for example in diagnostics. In this editorial, we present these advances in the context of research discovery and discuss both the clinical relevance of cancer genome sequencing and the challenges associated with the adoption of these genomic technologies in a clinical setting.

A rare case of multiple small bowel ruptures due to ischemic enteritis （ISE） is reported. The patient was admitted to the hospital with acute abdominal pain followed by bloody diarrhoeas. Preoperative colonoscopic findings were similar to those presented in Crohn＇s disease. Intraoperatively, ischemic lesions and multiple ruptures were localized at the jejunum and the proximal ileum. Histopathological examination of the resected bowel segment established the diagnosis of ISE. Although ISE is not common, concurred multiple ruptures of the small bowel is a rare but actual complication.

Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma(PDAC)is nowadays the fourth leading cause of cancer-related death worldwide,but according to recent estimations it will become the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the USA up to 2030,following lung *** implementation of neoadjuvant chemotherapy during recent years led to an increase of overall survival at 35 months in PDAC after R0 resection[1].However,pancreatic cancer has a particularity that makes it a real challenge for clinicians:only 20%of patients are diagnosed early enough to have a resectable pancreatic cancer,whereas 40%of patients present with locally advanced or non-resectable disease,while the rest present with distant metastases[2].Systemic chemotherapy plays the main role in metastatic PDAC treatment:polychemotherapy regimens such as FOLFIRINOX(folinic acid,5-fluorouracil,irinotecan and oxaliplatin)or combination of gemcitabine/nab-paclitaxel seemed to improve median overall survival from 6.8 to 11.1 months and 6.7 to 8.5 months,respectively[3].

Intussusception in adults is rare. The clinical picture of intussusception in adults is subtle and the diagnosis is,therefore,elusive. The presence of a structural abnor- mality in the great majority of the adult cases mandates high clinical suspicion. Gastrointestinal lipomas are rare benign tumors and intussusception due to a gastrointes- tinal lipoma constitutes an infrequent clinical entity. The present report describes a case of jejunojejunal intus- susception in an adult with a history of severe episodes of hematochezia and colicky upper abdominal pain. The diagnosis was suspected preoperatively but computed tomography scan could not rule out malignancy. Explor- atory laparotomy revealed jejunojejunal intussusception secondary to a lipoma which was successfully treated with segmental intestinal resection.

Pregnancies achieved by assisted reproduction technologies, particularly by intracytoplasmic sperm injection （ICSI） procedures, are susceptible to genetic risks inherent to the male population treated with ICSI and additional risks inherent to this innovative procedure. The documented, as well as the theoretical, risks are discussed in the present review study. These risks mainly represent thatconsequences of the genetic abnormalities underlying male subfertility （or infertility） and might become stimulators for the development of novel approaches and applications in the treatment of infertility. In addition, risks with a polygenic background appearing at birth as congenital anomalies and other theoretical or stochastic risks are discussed. Recent data suggest that assisted reproductive technology might also affect epigenetic characteristics of the male gamete, the female gamete, or might have an impact on early embryogenesis. It might be also associated with an increased risk for genomic imprinting abnormalities.
