A pricing scheme for electric utility’s participation in day-ahead and real-time flexibility energy markets

Liberalized electricity markets,smart grids and high penetration of renewable energy sources(RESs)led to the development of novel markets,whose objective is the harmonization between production and demand,usually noted as real time of flexibility *** necessitates the development of novel pricing schemes able to allow energy service providers(ESPs)to maximize their aggregated profits from the traditional markets(trading between wholesale/day-ahead and retail markets)and the innovative flexibility *** the same time,ESPs have to offer their end users(consumers)competitive(low cost)energy *** this context,novel pricing schemes must act,among others,as automated demand side management(DSM)techniques that are able to trigger the desired behavioral changes according to the flexibility market prices in energy consumption curves(ECCs)of the *** pricing schemes proposed so far,*** pricing,interact in an efficient way with wholesale *** they do not provide consumers with strong enough financial incentives to modify their energy consumption habits towards energy cost ***,they do not interact efficiently with flexibility ***,we develop a flexibility real-time pricing(FRTP)scheme,which offers a dynamically adjustable level of financial incentives to participating users by fairly rewarding the ones that make desirable behavioral changes in their *** evaluation results demonstrate that the proposed FRTP is able to offer a 15%–30%more attractive trade-off between the stacked profits of ESPs,*** sum of the profits from retail and flexibility markets,and the satisfaction of consumers.

The development of sustainable and functional biocomposites remains a robust research and industrial ***,the efficiency of using eco-friendly biochar as reinforcement in Additive Manufacturing(AM)was *** AM technologies were applied,i.e.,vat photopolymerization(VPP)and material extrusion(MEX).A standard-grade resin in VPP and the also eco-friendly biodegradable Polylactic Acid(PLA)in the MEX process were selected as polymeric *** was prepared in the study from olive *** were developed for both 3D printing processes at different biochar *** were 3D-printed and mechanically tested after international test *** Analysis and Raman revealed the thermal and structural characteristics of the *** and fractographic features were derived,among others,with Scanning Electron Microscopy(SEM)and Atomic Force Microscopy(AFM).Biochar was proven to be sufficient reinforcement agent,especially in the filament MEX process,reaching more than 20%improvement at 4 wt.%loading in tensile strength compared to the pure PLA control *** the VPP process,results were not as satisfactory,still,a 5%improvement was achieved in the flexural strength with 0.5 wt.%biochar *** findings prove the strong potential of biochar-based composites in AM applications,too.

AIM:To investigate aberrant DNA methylation of CpG islands and subsequent low-or high-level DNA microsatellite instability(MSI)which is assumed to drive colon carcinogenesis. METHODS:DNA of healthy individuals,adenoma(tu-bular or villous/tubulovillous)patients,and colorectal carcinoma patients who underwent colonoscopy was used for assessing the prevalence of aberrant DNA methylation of human DNA mismatch repair gene mutator L homologue 1(hMLH1),Cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor 2A(CDKN2A/p16),and O-6-methylguanine DNA methyltransferase(MGMT),as well as their rela- tion to MSI. RESULTS:The frequency of promoter methylation for each locus increased in the sequence healthy tissue/adenoma/*** showed the highest frequency in each *** and CDKN2A/p16 presented a statistically significant increase in promoter methylation between the less and more tumorigenic forms of colorectal adenomas(tubular vs tubullovillous and villous adenomas).All patients with tubulovillous/villous adenomas,as well as all colorectal cancer patients,showed promoter methylation in at least one of the examined *** findings suggest a potentially crucial role for methylation in the polyp/adenoma to cancer progres- sion in colorectal *** and methylation seem to be interdependent,as simultaneous hMLH1, CDKN2A/p16,and MGMT promoter methylation was present in 8/9 colorectal cancer patients showing the MSI phenotype. CONCLUSION:Methylation analysis of hMLH1,CD- KN2A/p16,and MGMT revealed specific methylation profiles for tubular adenomas,tubulovillous/villous adenomas,and colorectal cancers,supporting the use of these alterations in assessment of colorectal tumorigenesis.

Epigenetic mechanisms,such as DNA methylation and histone modiﬁcations(e.g.,acetylation and deacetylation),are strongly implicated in the carcinogenesis of various *** transcription,the expression and functionality of coding gene products are altered following the histone acetylation and *** processes are regulated by histone acetyltransferases(HATs)and histone deacetylases(HDACs),*** inhibitors(HDACis)have been developed as promising therapeutic agents,to limit exposure to traditional and toxic chemotherapies and offer more alternatives for some speciﬁc malignant diseases with limited ***,these agents affect many intracellular pathways,including cell cycle arrest,apoptosis and differentiation,and their mechanism of action mainly depends on the type of ***,ﬁve HDACis have been approved for the treatment of several hematological malignancies(e.g.,T-cell lymphoma subtypes and multiple myeloma);while,many of them are tested for further therapeutic indications in solid tumors(e.g.,colorectal,thyroid,breast,lung and pancreatic cancer).Herein,we review the literature and gather all available evidence,from in vitro and in vivo data to clinical trial results,that recognizes the antitumor activity of HDACis on pheochromocytomas and paragangliomas;and supports their clinical implementation in the treatment of these rare neuroendocrine tumors at metastatic setting.

The ambitious global targets on decarbonization present the need for massive integration of renewable generation in power systems,resulting in a significant decrease in the system *** addition to the reduction in system inertia,the transmission system in Great Britain(GB)faces some unique challenges owing to its relatively small capacity,while being decoupled from other transmission systems and with the renewable resources largely non-uniformly distributed across the *** paper presents opinions and insights on the challenges associated with frequency control in a low-inertia system and the potential solutions from a GB *** this paper,we focus on three main techniques that act over different time scales:synchronous condensers,inertia emulation,and fast frequency *** evaluate their relative advantages and limitations with learnings from recent research and development projects in GB,along with the opinions on their roles in addressing the frequency control challenges in future low-inertia systems.

Time‐varying matrix inversion is an important field of matrix research,and lots of research achievements have been *** the process of solving time‐varying matrix inversion,disturbances inevitably exist,thus,a model that can suppress disturbance while solving the problem is *** this paper,an advanced continuous‐time recurrent neural network(RNN)model based on a double integral RNN design formula is pro-posed for solving continuous time‐varying matrix inversion,which has incomparable disturbance‐suppression *** digital hardware applications,the corresponding advanced discrete‐time RNN model is proposed based on the discretisation *** a result of theoretical analysis,it is demonstrated that the advanced continuous‐time RNN model and the corresponding advanced discrete‐time RNN model have global and exponential convergence performance,and they are excellent for suppressing different ***,inspiring experiments,including two numerical experiments and a practical experiment,are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness and superiority of the advanced discrete‐time RNN model for solving discrete time‐varying matrix inversion with disturbance‐suppression.

This letter focuses on a recently published article that provided an exceptional description of the effect of epigenetic modifications on gene expression patterns related to skeletal system ***,it discusses a novel modality of epigenetic regulation,the long noncoding RNAs(lncRNAs),and provides evidence of their involvement in mesenchymal stromal/stem cells osteo-/adipogenic differentiation *** focus on lncRNAs,there is an emerging cross talk between lncRNAs and miRNAs interaction as a novel mechanism in the regulation of the function of the musculoskeletal system,by controlling bone homeostasis and bone regeneration,as well as the osteogenic differentiation of stem ***,we touched on some examples to demonstrate this *** addition,we believe there is still much to discover from the effects of lncRNAs on progenitor and non-progenitor cell *** incorporated data from other published articles to review lncRNAs in normal progenitor cell osteogenic differentiation,determined lncRNAs involved in osteoarthritis pathogenesis in progenitor cells,and provided a review of lncRNAs in non-progenitor cells that are differentially regulated in *** conclusion,we really enjoyed reading this article and with this information we hope to further our understanding of lncRNAs and mesenchymal stromal/stem cells regulation.

Diffusion-weighted MR imaging of normal and abnorma scrotum： preliminary results

Magnetic resonance （MR） imaging of the scrotum represents an important supplemental diagnostic tool in the evaluation of scrotal diseases. Diffusion-weighted （DW） MR imaging is a developing technique, proved to improve tissue characterization. We evaluated the feasibility and diagnostic performance of DW MR imaging in the detection and characterization of scrotal lesions. We retrospectively evaluated 31 scrotal lesions （23 intratesticular and 8 extratesticular） in 26 men. All MR examinations were performed on a 1.5-T unit, using a pelvic-phased array coil. DW sequences were obtained using a single shot, multislice spin echo planar diffusion pulse sequence and a b factor of 0 and 900 s mm-2. The DW MR characteristics and the apparent diffusion coefficient （ADC） values of normal scrotal contents and scrotal diseases were evaluated. Comparison between the ADC values of normal scrotum, benign lesions and scrotal malignancies was performed. The accuracy of conventional sequences, DW images alone and DW imaging combined with conventional images in differentiating benign from malignant scmtal lesions was calculated. The ADC values of testicular malignancies were different from those of normal testis and benign intratesticular lesions, and the ADC values of benign extratesticular lesions from those of normal epididymis （P〈0.05）. The overall accuracy of conventional imaging, DW imaging alone and DW MR combined with conventional sequences in the characterization of intratesticular lesions was 91%, 87% and 100%, respectively. Our findings suggest that DW MR imaging and ADC values may provide valuable information in the diagnosis and characterization of scrotal diseases.
