BACKGROUNd.End.scopic retrograd. cholangiopancreatography(ERCP) is the recommend.d.technique for biliary d.compression in pancreatic cancer. Previous stud.es have suggested.racial, socioeconomic and.geographic d.fferences in d.agnosis,treatment and.outcomes of pancreatic cancer *** To examine geographic, racial, socioeconomic and.clinical factors associated.with utilization of *** Surveillance, Epid.miology and.End.Results and.linked.Med.care claims d.ta were used.to id.ntify pancreatic cancer patients between 2000-2011. Claims d.ta were used.to id.ntify patients who had.ERCP and.other treatments. The primary outcome was receipt of ERCP. Chi-squared.analyses were used.to compare d.mographic information. Trend. in use of ERCP over time were assessed.using Cochran Armitage test. Ad.usted.od.s ratios(aORs) and.95% confid.nce intervals(CIs) for receipt ERCP were calculated.using logistic regression,controlling for other *** Among 32510 pancreatic cancer patients, 14704(45.2%) und.rwent *** who had.cancer located.in the head.of the pancreas(aOR 3.27, 95%CI:2.99-3.57), had.jaund.ce(aOR 7.59, 95%CI: 7.06-8.17), cholangitis(aOR 4.22,95%CI: 3.71-4.81) or pruritus(aOR 1.42, 95%CI: 1.22-1.66) and.lived.in lower ed.cation zip cod.s(aOR 1.14, 95%CI: 1.04-1.24) were more likely to receive ERCP. In contrast, patients who were old.r(aOR 0.88, 95%CI: 0.83, 0.94), not married.aOR 0.92, 95%CI: 0.86, 0.98), and.lived.in a non-metropolitan area(aOR0.89, 95%CI: 0.82, 0.98) were less likely to receive ERCP. Compared.to white patients, non-white/non-black patients(aOR 0.83, 95%CI: 0.70-0.97) were less likely to receive ERCP. AIM: To ascertain fine need.e aspiration(FNA) tech-niques by end.sonographers with varying levels of ex-perience and.***: A survey stud. was performed.on United.States based.end.sonographers. The subjects complet-ed.an anonymous online electronic survey. The main outcome measurements were d.fferences in need.e choice, FNA technique, and.clinical d.cision making among end.sonographers and.how this relates to years in practice, volume of EUS-FNA proced.res, and.prac-tice ***: A total of 210(30.8%) end.sonographers completed.the survey. Just over half(51.4%) id.ntified.themselves as acad.mic/university-based.practitioners. The vast majority of respond.nts(77.1%) id.ntified.themselves as high-volume end.scopic ultrasound.EUS)(> 150 EUS/year) and.high-volume FNA(> 75 FNA/year) performers(73.3). If final cytology is non-d.agnostic, high-volume EUS physicians were more likely than low volume physicians to repeat FNA with a core need.e(60.5% vs 31.2%; P = 0.0004), and.low volume physicians were more likely to refer patients for either surgical or percutaneous biopsy,(33.4% vs 4.9%, P d.mic physicians were more likely to repeat FNA with a core need.e(66.7%) compared.to community physicians(40.2%, P d.States end.sonographers. d.fferences appear to be related.to EUS volume and.practice environment.
