Liquid vaporization under thermodynamic phase non-equilibrium condition at the gas-liquid interface

Liquid vaporization under thermodynamic phase non-equilibrium condition at the gas-liquid interface is investigated over a wide range of fluid state typical of many liquid-fueled energy conversion systems. The validity of the phase-equilibrium assumption commonly used in the existing study of liquid vaporization is examined using molecular dynamics theories. The interfacial mass flow rates on both sides of the liquid surface are compared to the net vaporization rate through an order-of-magnitude *** indicated that the phase-equilibrium assumption holds valid at relatively high pressures and low temperatures,and for droplets with relatively large initial diameters(for example,larger than 10 μm for vaporizing oxygen droplets in gaseous hydrogen in the pressure range from 10 atm to the oxygen critical state). Droplet vaporization under superheated conditions is also explored using classical binary homogeneous nucleation theory,in conjunction with a real-fluid equation of state. It is found that the bubble nucleation rate is very sensitive to changes in saturation ratio and pressure;it increases by several orders of magnitude when either the saturation ratio or the pressure is slightly increased. The kinetic limit of saturation ratio decreases with increasing pressure,leading to reduced difference between saturation and superheat conditions. As a result,the influence of nonequilibrium conditions on droplet vaporization is lower at a higher pressure.

In the recent years, a plethora of computerized expert systems has been developed for various sectors of agriculture in India. The availability of low-cost computers, agricultural knowledge and information technology professionals are the principal reasons for the development of so many agricultural expert systems. among all agricultural expert systems, the expert systems for crop protection need special mention. These expert systems are meant to be used by farmers and other persons without much experience of using computers. Hence, special care must be taken while developing them. The current paper develops a taxonomy for the expert systems for crop pro- tection and briefly discusses four such expert systems for crop protection being used in India.

Physicochemical variations in products are known to occur depending on storage *** study examined the effects of storage time on the physicochemical,sensory,rheological,and microbiological properties of fortified low-fat *** spreads containing potassium sorbate(PS;0.05%and 0.1%)or MicroGard 100(MG;0.5%and 1%)as preservatives and a control spread(cS)were packed in presterilized airtight polyethylene jars and their shelf lives were investigated by storage at(5±1)℃for 91 *** on the physicochemical properties,the addition of preservatives inhibited the formation of free fatty acids and thiobarbituric acid and influenced the pH and *** emulsion stability of the preserved samples was greater than that of the cS after 14 *** storage progressed,the sensory and rheological properties of the cS deteriorated continuously,whereas significantly smaller changes were observed for the samples containing 0.1%PS and 1%*** surface growth of yeasts and molds was the main cause of spoilage,particularly in the *** all the samples,the standard plate counts and the yeast and mold counts increased during *** contrast,the coliform counts were zero,indicating that the samples were manufactured and stored under hygienic *** samples containing lower levels of preservatives(0.05%PS and 0.5%MG)were acceptable for 70 d and 77 d as compared to 49 d for the ***,the addition of 0.1%PS and 1%MG extended the shelf life to 91 d.

Objective:To study the prevalence and cure rate of tuberculosis(TB) and the people affected by TB in selected areas,considering different factors like age,sex,percentage of people affected,dosage forms,role of hospitals, and patient ***:A detailed survey was carried out in and around Perinthalmanna and Wayanad(Urban and Rural) to understand the burden and overall trend of TB in our locality and how effective our TB control *** than 250 treatment cards were collected from the Government hospitals and TB ***:In the study,at Perinthalmanna and Wayanad,out of 250 TB patients it was found that males is more susceptible than females,rural area accounting for the greater proportion of TB patients. Greater proportion were affected with pulmonary than extra pulmonary *** incidence of tuberculosis in different age groups varied according to the *** proportion in both rural and urban areas were belonging to categoryⅡfollowed by categoryⅢ.conclusion:The nature and magnitude of TB is more in rural area than urban area mainly because of the lack of awareness of the severity of disease and improper follow up of preventive *** study suggests that the combined and committed efforts of government,non government organizations,medical and paramedical professional and society is required at large,to reach all patients and ensure that they receive high quality care.

An all-optical adder/subtractor （A/S） unit with the （TOAD） is proposed. The all-optical A/S unit with help of terahertz optical asymmetric demultiplexer a set of all-optical full-adders and optical exclusive- ORs （XORs）, can be used to perform a fast central processor unit using optical hardware components. We try to exploit the advantages of TOAD-based optical switch to design an integrated all-optical circuit which can perform binary addition and subtraction. With computer simulation results confirming the described methods, conclusions are given.

Under small and marginal farm conditions,allocation of land exclusively for forages is not ***,integration of forages in existing crop geometry can ensure production of grain and fodder,simultaneously under rainfed *** experiment was conducted to study the effect of different nutrient management practices on rice and fodder intercropping systems under rainfed conditions during *** intercropping system comprised(i)sole rice(R),(ii)rice and cowpea(5:2)(cP)and(iii)rice and ricebean(5:2)(RB)whereas the different nutrient management practices comprised(i)application of farm yard manure(FYM)at 5t ha^(-1)(farmers'practice)(N_(1)),(ii)application of inorganic fertilizer(recommended dose of fertilizer(RDF)of rice,60:30:30 kg ha^(-1) of N:P_(2)O_(5):k_(2)O)(N_(2))and(iii)application of both FYM at 5t ha^(-1) and 50%of RDF inorganic fertilizer(N3).The results of the experiment revealed that the growth attribute such as leaf area was influenced significantly when fodder crops were taken as intercrops because rice plant was getting more nitrogen from soil due to nitrogen fixation of leguminous fodder *** the nutrient management practices,significant differences in leaf area were found beween N2 and and between N_(3)and N_(1)***,regarding total number of effective tillers,significant differences were found neither between nutrient management practices nor between cropping *** rice equivalent yield(REY)based on price(REY_(P))was found to be significantly lower in cP(2615 kg ha^(-1);-6.4%)and RB intercropping systems(2571 kg ha^(-1);-8.0%)than in R monocropping system(2794 kg ha^(-1)).However,the REY based on energy(REY_(E))of cP(2999 kg ha^(-1);+7.3%)and RB(2960 kg ha^(-1);+5.9%)were found to be significantly higher than that of R(2794 kg ha^(-1))irrespective of nutrient management *** different nutrient management practices,the N3 treatment recorded the highest REY_(P)and REY_(E)which was at par with

AIM:To establish the prognosis and feasibility of en-bloc vascular resection of stage pancreatic adenocarcinoma of the head and uncinate ***:We retrospectively analyzed 87 patients with stage pancreatic adenocarcinoma,who were subjected to pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD) and pylo-rus-preserving PD (PPPD) between 1996 and 2006 in chang Gung Memorial Hospital,Taiwan. Twelve and 75 patients underwent PD/PPPD with and without resection of portal vein/superior mesenteric vein (PV/SMV),***:The overall 1-and 3-year survival rates of patients undergoing PD/PPPD with and without vas-cular resection were 50.0% and 16.7%,and 44.4% and 12.2%,respectively. Morbidity and mortality rates in the PV/SMV resection vs non-resection group were 50.0% and 0.0%,and 40.0% and 2.7%,respectively. In multivariate analysis,serum bilirubin,histological differentiation and adjuvant chemotherapy were independent prognostic factors that influenced ***:In stage adenocarcinoma of the pancreatic head and uncinate process,serum bilirubin,histological differentiation and adjuvant chemotherapy were independent prognostic factors,and en-bloc vascular resection is a feasible option in carefully selected patients.
