Purpose: Rapid eye movement sleep behavior disorder (RBD) and impulse control disorders (ICDs) are common in subjects with Parkinson’s disease. The association between these two conditions has been contradictory. The aim of this study is to analyze the association between these two non-motor symptoms. Methods: Consecutive subjects with Parkinson’s disease attending the Movement Disorders Outpatient Clinic were included. The presence of ICDs was assessed using the Questionnaire for Impulse Control Disorders Rating Scale. RBD was diagnosed by an overnight, single night polysomnography. Results: Fifty-five consecutive subjects with Parkinson’s disease were included. The prevalence of ICDs and related behaviors was 23.6% (ICD in 14.5% and related behaviors in 9.1%). RBD was diagnosed in 47.2% of the patients. No differences were found in the frequency of ICDs and related behaviors when comparing subjects with and without RBD (23% versus 24.1%, p = 0.926, respectively). Conclusion: No association between the presence of RBD and the frequency of ICDs in subjects with Parkinson’s disease was found.

Microstructure and Thermal Conductivity of Al–Graphene Composites Fabricated by Powder Metallurgy and Hot Rolling Techniques

The objective of this research is to improve the thermal conductivity and mechanical properties of Al/GNPs（graphene nanoplatelets） nanocomposites produced by classical powder metallurgy and hot rolling techniques. The microstructural evaluation confirmed the uniform dispersion of GNPs at low content and agglomeration at higher contents of GNPs. The structure of graphene was studied before and after the mixing and the Raman spectrum proofs that the wet mixing has a great potential to be used as a dispersion method. There was no significant peak corresponding to the Al_4C_3 formation in both the differential scanning calorimetry curves and X-ray diffraction patterns. The microstructural observation in both fabrication techniques showed grain refinement as a function of the GNPs content. Moreover, the introduction of the GNPs not only improved the Vickers hardness of the composites but also decreased their density. The thermal conductivity investigations showed that in both the press-sintered and hot-rolled samples, although the thermal conductivity of composites was improved at low GNPs contents, it was negatively affected at high GNPs contents.

Classical powder metallurgy followed by either hot isostatic pressing（HIPing） or repressing–annealing process was used to produce Cu–graphene nanoplatelets（GNPs） nanocomposites in this work. A wet mixing method was used to disperse the graphene within the matrix. The results show that a uniform dispersion of GNPs at low graphene contents could be achieved, whereas agglomeration of graphene was revealed at higher graphene contents. Density evaluations showed that the relative density of pure copper and copper composites increased by using the post-processing ***, it should be noticed that the efficiency of HIPing was remarkably higher than repressing–annealing process, and through the HIPing, fully dense samples were achieved. The Vickers hardness results showed that the reconsolidation steps can improve the mechanical strength of the specimens up to 50% owing to the progressive porosity elimination after reconsolidation. The thermal conductivity results of pure copper and composites at high temperatures showed that the postprocessing techniques could enhance the conductivity of materials significantly.

Electron beam melting(EBM) process is an additive manufacturing process largely used to produce complex metallic components made of high-performance materials for aerospace and medical ***,lattice structures made by Ti-6A1-4V have represented a hot topic for the industrial sectors because of having a great potential to combine lower weights and higher performances that can also be tailored by subsequent heat ***,the little knowledge about the mechanical behaviour of the lattice structures is limiting their *** present work aims to provide a comprehensive review of the studies on the mechanical behaviour of the lattice structures made of *** main steps to produce an EBM part were considered as guidelines to review the literature on the lattice performance:(1) design,(2) process and(3) post-heat ***,the correlation between the geometrical features of the lattice structure and their mechanical behaviour is *** addition,the correlation among the mechanical performance of the lattice structures and the process precision,surface roughness and working temperature are also *** investigation on the studies about the properties of heat-treated lattice structure is also conducted.

Aluminum and copper matrix nanocomposites reinforced by graphene nanoplatelets （GNPs） were successfully fabricated by a wet mixing method followed by conventional powder metallurgy. The uniform dispersion of GNPs within the metal matrices showed that the wet mixing method has a great potential to be used as a mixing technique. However, by increasing the GNPs content, GNPs agglomeration was more visible. DSC and XRD of AI/GNPs nanocomposites showed that no new phase formed below the melting point of AI. Microstructural observations in both nanocomposites reveal the evident grain refinement effect as a consequence of GNPs addition. The interfacial bonding evaluation shows a poor interfacial bonding between GNPs and AI, while the interfacial bonding between Cu and GNPs is strong enough to improve the properties of the Cu/GNPs nanocomposites. In both composites, the coefficient of thermal expansion decreases as a function of GNPs while, their hardness is improved by increasing the GNPs content as well as their elastic modulus.

Conformal cooling coils have been developed during the last decades through the use of additive manufacturing(AM)*** main goal of this study was to analyze how the presence of an internal channel that could act as a conformal cooling coil could affect compressive strength and quasi-elastic gradient of AlSi10Mg lattice structures produced by laser powder bed fusion(LPBF).Three different configurations of samples were tested in compression at 25℃ and 200℃.The reference structures were body centered cubic(BBC)in the core of the samples with vertical struts along Z(BCCZ)lattices in the outer perimeter,labelled as NC *** main novelty consisted in inserting a straight elliptical channel and a 45°elliptical channel inside the BCCZ lattice structures,labelled as SC and 45C samples *** the samples were then tested in as-built(AB)condition,and after two post process heat treatments,commonly used for AlSi10Mg LPBF industrial components,a stress relieving(SR)and a T6 *** lattice structures AB exhibited an overall fragile fracture and therefore the SC and 45C configuration samples were tested only after thermal *** test at 25℃ showed that all types of samples were characterized by negligible variations in their quasi-elastic gradients and yield *** the contrary,the general trend of stress-strain curves was influenced by the presence of the channel and its *** test at 200℃ showed that NC,SC and 45C samples after SR and T6 treatments exhibited a metal-foam like deformation.

The reactive spontaneous infiltration of Al-activated TiO2 (anatase) was investigated. Pure Al powder was blended with TiO2 for activation. They were compacted into the preform and then sealed within 6060 alloy mould. The activation and infiltration were carried out in 6060 alloy bath for 1 h and comparative sintering experiments were carried out in an argon protected environment under the same conditions of temperature and duration. X-ray diffraction analysis proved that the Al sealed environment was superior to the argon protection on activating the reaction between Al and TiO2. The blending ratio of TiO2 to Al and the temperature were found to play the most important role in infiltration by affecting infiltration and reaction kinetics. Three main types of microstructures were observed after infiltration: full infiltration, partial infiltration with the formation of cracks and no infiltration. The formation of these microstructures was explained on the basis of reaction kinetics and local volume changes due to the reactions. Ultimately, it is found that to obtain an overall good spontaneous infiltration, a TiO2 to Al blending ratio around 3:7 in volume and an infiltration temperature around 900 °C are the most suitable.

Concrete is multicomponent composite material, consisting of coarse aggregate, fine aggregate, cement and water. Natural aggregates, as well as aggregates obtained after the reprocessing of buildings＇ demolition waste, can be used as coarse and fine aggregates. Characteristics of the hardened concrete depend on the raw materials, used for the preparation of concrete mixture, and their characteristics. The objective of the research is to analyse the sources of demolition waste, to describe the reprocessing technology of concrete waste, to investigate the production of the aggregate from the concrete waste, to analyse the main properties of these aggregates -- particles＇ density, bulk density, granulometric composition, hollowness and other properties, as well as to compare the obtained results with the requirements applicable to the aggregates based on natural materials.

GrafTech公司的Apollo电极系统在2008年年初应用于安赛乐米塔尔公司卢森堡迪弗丹格厂直流电弧炉上,目的是为了降低其石墨电极的总成本。在稳定的电炉操作条件下,2008年上半年电极单耗出现了显著和稳定的改善。这个积极效果来自于两方面:真正地消除了电极残头损失以及持续降低电极折断率。通过提供增值技术服务和支撑,GrafTech公司也在减少电极折断和相关损失方面提供了帮助:首先,对废钢塌方和非导电的检测制度进行了微调,同时也对伺服器的信号低频过滤器进行了优化;其次,通过使用SMED(单分快速换模法)精益管理方法,电极操作的稳定性和效率也得到了改善;最后,GrafTech公司对于破损的零碎电极提供再加工服务,然后成功投入二次使用,这种服务也减少了电极的实际统计消耗,使得电极统计消耗接近于净损耗。此外,电极消耗也得益于电炉操作条件的改进(废钢预热)带来的电能消耗降低,不过这个改进因素需单独考虑其影响。以上措施,在过去的两年里促进电极单耗和相关的碳排放减少了35%。本文主要目的是想通过阐述使用Apollo石墨电极系统的方法,如使用Apollo石墨电极系统消除电极残头、改进电极使用制度减少折断、应用电极SMED方法提高生产力以及优化电炉操作条件等,来帮助其他电炉钢厂降低石墨电极的总成本。
