Gastric mucin expression in Helicobacter pylori-related, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug-related and idiopathic ulcers

AIM: To determine the pattern of secreted mucin expression in Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori)-related, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID)-related and idiopathic gastric ulcers. METhoDS: We randomly selected 92 patients with H. pylori-associated (n = 30), NSAID-associated (n = 18), combined H. pylori and NSAID-associated gastric ulcers (n = 24), and patients with idiopathic gastric ulcers (n = 20). Immunohistochemistry for T-cell CD4/CD8, andfor mucin 5AC (MUC5AC) and mucin 6 (MUC6), was performed on sections of the mucosa from the ulcer margin. Inflammation score was assessed according to the Sydney system. RESULTS: MUC5AC was expressed on the surface epithelium (98.9%) and neck glands (98.9%) with minimal expression in the deep glands (6.5%). MUC6 was strongly expressed in the deep glands (97.8%), variable in the neck glands (19.6%) and absent in the surface epithelium (0%). The pattern of mucin expression in idiopathic ulcer margins was not different from the expression in ulcers associated with H. pylori, NSAIDs, or combined H. pylori and NSAIDs. CD4/CD8 ratio was higher in H. pylori-positive patients (P = 0.009). Idiopathic ulcers are associated with hospitalized patients and have higher bleeding and mortality rates. CONCLUSION: Idiopathic ulcers have a unique clinical profile. Gastric mucin expression in idiopathic gastric ulcers is unchanged compared with H. pylori and/or NSAID-associated ulcers.

To provide basic data for the reasonable mixing design of the alkali-activated (AA) foamed concrete as a thermal insulation material for a floor heating system, 9 concrete mixes with a targeted dry density less than 400 kg/m3 were tested. Ground granulated blast-furnace slag (GGBS) as a source material was activated by the following two types of alkali activators: 10% ca(OH)2 and 4% Mg(NO3)2, and 2.5% ca(OH)2 and 6.5% Na2SiO3. The main test parameters were water-to-binder (W/B) ratio and the substitution level (Rfa) of fly ash (fa) for GGBS. Test results revealed that the dry density of AA GGBS foamed concrete was independent of the W/B ratio an Rfa, whereas the compressive strength increased with the decrease in W/B ratio and with the increase in Rfa up to 15%, beyond which it decreased. With the increase in the W/B ratio, the amount of macro capillaries and artificial air pores increased, which resulted in the decrease of compressive strength. The magnitude of the environmental loads of the AA GGBS foamed concrete is independent of the W/B ratio and Rfa. The largest reduction percentage was found in the photochemical oxidation potential, being more than 99%. The reduction percentage was 87% - 93% for the global warming potential, 81% - 84% for abiotic depletion, 79% - 84% for acidification potential, 77% - 85% for eutrophication potential, and 73% - 83% for human toxicity potential. Ultimately, this study proved that the developed AA GGBS foamed concrete has a considerable promise as a sustainable construction material for nonstructural element.

Background： The tools of synthetic biology have enabled researchers to explore multiple scientific phenomena by directly engineering signaling pathways within living cells and artificial protoeells. Here, we explored the potential for engineered living cells themselves to assemble signafing pathways for non-living protocells. This analysis serves as a preliminary investigation into a potential origin of processes that may be utilized by complex living systems. Specifically, we suggest that if living cells can be engineered to direct the assembly of genetic signaling pathways from genetic biomaterials in their environment, then insight can be gained into how naturally occurring living systems might behave similarly. Methods： To this end, we have modeled and simulated a system consisting of engineered cells that control the assembly of DNA monomers on microparticle scaffolds. These DNA monomers encode genetic circuits, and therefore, these microparticles can then be encapsulated with minimal transcription and translation systems to direct protocell phenotype. The modeled system relies on multiple previously established synthetic systems and then links these together to demonstrate system feasibility. Results： In this specific model, engineered cells are induced to synthesize biotin, which competes with biotinylated, circuit-encoding DNA monomers for an avidinized-microparticle scaffold. We demonstrate that multiple synthetic motifs can be controlled in this way and can be tuned by manipulating parameters such as inducer and DNA concentrations. Conclusions： We expect that this system will provide insight into the origin of living systems as well as serve as a tool for engineering living cells that assemble complex biomaterials in their environment.

Graphene nanostructures with complex geometries have been widely explored for plasmonic applications,as their plasmonic resonances exhibit high spatial confinement and gate ***,edge effects in graphene and the narrow range over which plasmonic resonances can be tuned have limited the use of graphene in optical and optoelectronic *** we present a novel approach to achieve mechanically reconfigurable and strongly resonant plasmonic structures based on crumpled *** calculations show that mechanical reconfiguration of crumpled graphene structures enables broad spectral tunability for plasmonic resonances from mid-to nearinfrared,acting as a new tuning knob combined with conventional electrostatic ***,a continuous sheet of crumpled graphene shows strong confinement of plasmons,with a high near-field intensity enhancement of~1×10^(4).Finally,decay rates for a dipole emitter are significantly enhanced in the proximity of finite-area biaxially crumpled graphene *** findings indicate that crumpled graphene provides a platform to engineer graphenebased plasmonics through broadband manipulation of strong plasmonic resonances.

采用小片段克隆法构建了澳洲鳗鲡(Anguilla australis)的部分基因组文库,并用地高辛标记的(ca)15作探针筛选阳性克隆,共获得76条微卫星序列,其中10次以下ca连续重复序列占83.67%,没有检测到30次以上的连续重复序列。根据微卫星序列两端足够长的侧翼序列,设计引物55对,选择合成引物26对,用澳洲鳗鲡3个个体的混合基因组进行引物筛选,其中的18对具有清晰的扩增条带。将筛选出的18对引物对澳洲鳗鲡1个群体的40个个体进行了遗传多样性分析,其中1对引物扩增产物为单态,17对扩增产物呈现多态;17对扩增多态的引物在40个个体中扩增出等位基因数目为5～14,平均为9个。该澳洲鳗鲡群体的PIC、ho、He的平均值分别为0.7157、0.6779、0.7374,所有位点均符合哈迪-温伯格平衡(P=0.05),结果证明这17个微卫星位点适于澳洲鳗鲡群体结构的研究分析。

滇西镇康芦子园是"三江"成矿带保山地块内迄今发现的唯一超大型Pb-Zn-Fe(Cu)多金属矿床,是区内系列同类层控热液铅锌矿床的典型代表。矿体呈似层状、脉状及透镜状产于寒武系碳酸盐岩建造的矽卡岩和大理岩层间破碎带,矿石构造以条带状、浸染状和脉状-网脉状为主要特征;围岩蚀变复杂、分带明显,由下至上依次为石榴子石-透辉石-透闪石-阳起石化带→绿泥石-绿帘石-阳起石-蔷薇辉石化带→碳酸盐-大理岩化带。矿床成矿流体从早期到晚期经历了多个矿化阶段。本文选取了该矿床早矽卡岩阶段、晚矽卡岩阶段、石英硫化物阶段和石英碳酸盐阶段的多种脉石矿物及闪锌矿进行了系统的流体包裹体研究。结果显示,早矽卡岩阶段发育微溶CO_2富液相和纯液相水溶液包裹体,并含大量K^+、Na^+、ca^(2+)、F^-和Cl^-和少量SO_4^(2-),气相成分主要为H_2O、CO_2及少量CH_4和N_2,包裹体均一温度为233.6~315.6℃,盐度为10.6%~17.6%NaCleqv;晚矽卡岩阶段发育含CO_2和子矿物三相包裹体,均一温度214.9~388.0℃,盐度5.9%~16.4%NaCleqv;石英硫化物阶段发育含CO_2的水溶液包裹体,气相成分为CH_4、H_2O和少量CO_2,均一温度150.0~285.0℃,盐度为2.5%~13.8%NaCleqv;石英碳酸盐阶段为单一成分的水溶液包裹体,均一温度为105.0~187.5℃,盐度为0.5%~12.3%NaCleqv。结合H-O同位素研究表明,成矿流体最初来源于具中高温、中高盐度、高K、Na,富CO_2、Cl、F等特征的深部岩浆热液,在石英硫化物阶段开始有大气降水混入,演化为中阶段中低温、低盐度、贫CO_2的热液流体,至成矿晚阶段转化为以大气降水占主导。该矿床成矿环境的改变、流体混合以及流体的沸腾作用可能是导致成矿物质富集沉淀的重要机制。综合矿床地质特征、成矿流体包裹体和ho同位素研究认为,该矿床为与陆陆碰撞造山和深部隐伏岩体有关的远程矽卡岩成矿系统。
