Research on two-dimensional(2D) materials is one of the most active fields in materials science and nanotechnology. Among the members of the 2D family, layered hydroxides(LHs) represent an exceptional case of study due to their unparalleled chemical versatility which allows the modulation of their physicochemical properties at will. Nowadays, LHs based on earth-abundant metals are key materials in the areas of energy storage and conversion, hybrid materials or magnetism. α-Co hydroxides(Simonkolleite-like structures) are promising phases with tuneable electronic and magnetic properties by ligand modification. However, even in the simple case of α-Co^(Ⅱ) hydroxychlorides, the preparation of well-defined large 2D crystals is not straightforward, hindering the development of fundamental studies. Herein, we present the synthesis of 2D hexagonal crystals with outstanding sizethickness relationship(diameter > 5 μm and thickness of 20 ± 7 nm) by a simple homogeneous synthesis taking place at room temperature. In structural terms, no differences are observed between our layered materials and those obtained hydrothermally. However, dynamic susceptibility measurements alert about different arrangements of the magnetic sublattices, which have been rationalized with structural DFT calculations. This work provides an extremely easy bottom-up method to obtain high-quality 2D crystals based on α-CoIIhydroxides,paving the way for the development of fundamental studies and applications.

Three-Dimensional Fluid-Structure Interaction Case Study on Cubical Fluid Cavity with Flexible Bottom

In this paper, we report our study on a numerical fluid-structure interaction problem originally presented by Mok et al.(2001) in two dimensions and later studied in three dimensions by Valdés Vazquez(2007), Lombardi(2012), and Trimarchi(2012). We focus on a 3D test case in which we evaluated the sensitivity of several input parameters on the fluid and structural results. In particular, this analysis provides a starting point from which we can look deeper into specific aspects of these simulations and analyze more realistic cases, e.g., in sails design. In this study, using the commercial software ADINATM, we addressed a well-known unsteadiness problem comprising a square box representing the fluid domain with a flexible bottom modeled with structural shell elements. We compared data from previously published work whose authors used the same numerical approach, i.e., a partitioned approach coupling a finite volume solver(for the fluid domain) and a finite element solver(for the solid domain). Specifically, we established several benchmarks and made comparisons with respect to fluid and solid meshes, structural element types, and structural damping, as well as solution algorithms. Moreover, we compared our method with a monolithic finite element solution method. Our comparisons of new and old results provide an outline of best practices for such simulations.

Corneal functional optical zone under monocular and binocular assessment

Background:In this retrospective randomized case series,we compared bilateral symmetry between OD and OS eyes,intercorneal differences and Functional Optical Zone(FOZ)of the corneal ***:Sixty-seven normal subjects(with no ocular pathology)who never had any ocular surgery were bilaterally evaluated at Augenzentrum Recklinghausen(Germany).In all cases,standard examinations and corneal wavefront topography(OPTIKON Scout)were *** OD/OS bilateral symmetry was evaluated for corneal wavefront aberrations,and FOZ-values were evaluated from the Root-Mean-Square(RMS)of High-Order Wavefront-Aberration(HOWAb).Moreover,correlations of FOZ,spherical equivalent(SE),astigmatism power,and cardinal and oblique astigmatism for binocular ***,and binocular *** differences were ***:Mean FOZ was 6.56±1.13 mm monocularly,6.97±1.34 mm binocularly,and 7.64±1.30 mm intercorneal difference,with all strongly positively correlated,showing that the diameter of glare-free vision is larger in binocular than monocular *** SE was 0.78±1.30 D,and the mean astigmatism power(magnitude)was 0.46±0.52 D *** corresponding monocular values for these metrics were 0.78±1.30 D and 0.53±0.53 D ***,astigmatism magnitude,cardinal astigmatism component,and FOZ showed a strong correlation and even symmetry;and oblique astigmatism component showed odd symmetry indicating Enantiomorphism between the left and right ***:These results confirm OD-vs.-OS bilateral symmetry(which influences binocular summation)of HOWAb,FOZ,defocus,astigmatism power,and cardinal and oblique *** Functional Optical Zone calculated from corneal wavefront aberrations can be used to optimize refractive surgery design.

The technology of space plasma in-situ measurement on the China Seismo-Electromagnetic Satellite

The China Seismo-Electromagnetic satellite(CSES) was designed to study the ionospheric disturbances associated with earthquakes. Satellite payload includes nine instruments. Among them, we recall instruments for plasma analysis, electric,magnetic fields and high energy particle detectors. Langmuir probe(LP) and plasma analyzer package(PAP) are the in-situ payloads to measure space plasma. Its scientific objective is to research space plasma physics phenomena and the ionosphere changes caused by seismic. It is the first application of in-situ measurement technology in the field of space exploration in *** Langmuir probe and Plasma Analyzer Package have been tested and calibrated to verify the performance in ***, on-orbit testing is being performed with satellites.

MCRO-PUF:A Novel Modified Crossover RO-PUF with an Ultra-Expanded CRP Space

With the expanding use of the Internet of Things(IoT)devices and the connection of humans and devices to the Internet,the need to provide security in this field is constantly *** conventional cryptographic solutions need the IoT device to store secret keys in its non-volatile memory(NVM)leading the system to be vulnerable to physical *** addition,they are not appropriate for IoT applications due to their complex ***,physically unclonable functions(PUFs)have been introduced to simultaneously address these *** are lightweight and easy-toaccess hardware security primitives which employ the unique characteristics of integrated circuits(ICs)to generate secret *** all proposed PUFs,ring oscillator PUF(RO-PUF)has had amore suitable structure for hardware implementation because of its high reliability and easier providing of circuital ***,RO-PUF has not been so attractive for authentication purposes due to its limited supported challenge-response pairs(CRPs).A few efforts have been made in recent years that could successfully improve the RO-PUF CRP space,such as configurable RO-PUF(CRO-PUF).In this paper,by considerably improving the CRO-PUF structure and adding spare paths,we propose a novel strong RO-PUF structure that exponentially grows the CRP space and dramatically reduces the hardware *** implement our design on a simple and low-cost FPGA chip named XC6SLX9-2tqg144,stating that the proposed design can be used in IoT *** addition,to improve the CRP space,our design creates a suitable improvement in different security/performance terms of the generated responses,and dramatically outperforms the *** average reliability,uniqueness,and uniformity of the responses generated are 99.55%,48.49%,and 50.99%,respectively.

A Case Study of a Force-myography Controlled Bionic Hand Mitigating Limb Position Effect

Force Myography （FMG）, which monitors pressure or radial deformation of a limb, has recently been proposed as a po- tential alternative for naturally controlling bionic robotic prostheses. This paper presents an exploratory case study aimed at evaluating how FMG behaves when a person with amputation uses a hand prosthetic prototype. One volunteer （transradial amputation） participated in this study, which investigated two experimental cases： static and dynamic. The static case considered forearm muscle contractions in a fixed elbow and shoulder positions whereas the dynamic case included movements of the elbow and shoulder. When considering eleven different hand grips, static data showed an accuracy over 99%, and dynamic data over 86% （within-trial analysis）. The across-trial analysis, that takes into account multiple trials in the same data collection set, showed a meaningful accuracy respectively of 81% and 75% only for the reduced six grips setup. While further research is needed to increase these accuracies, the obtained results provided initial evidence that this technology could represent an in- teresting alternative that is worth exploring for controlling prosthesis.
