The Massive Sulfide Deposit of Siirt Madenkoy,South-Eastern Turkey--Geology,Geochemistry and Mineral Raw Material Potential

The Siirt Madenköy massive sulfide ore deposit has been in operation since 2005. With its approx. 39 Mt reserves (2.40% Cu), it represents the largest Cu deposit and the largest mining operation in the country (1.5 Mt ore/year). The thickness of the adjacent rocks is composed of olivine-pyroxenite basalts pillow lava, which is spilite, interchangeable ore lenses of chalcopyrite and pyrite is about 170 m and reaches a depth of 350 m. The mid-Eocene aged porphyritic, strongly altered spilites are locally interspersed with diabase and covered by conglomerates. The ores appear massive, stock work and disseminated. Main ore minerals are idiomorphic pyrite, cataclastic chalcopyrite and fine-grained magnetite. The geochemical composition of the Cu ores of the Siirt-Madenköy deposit shows in places high levels of Cu, Fe and S, as important trace elements, As, Ba, Co and Ti are listed. In relation to Clarke values, Se, Bi, Cu, Mo and Co are strongly enriched, while Na, K and Ca as well as their coherent trace elements Rb, Sr and Cd are depleted due to hydrothermal alteration. The elemental distribution is characterized by log-normal distribution, proportionality effect, high Cu/Ni ratio and significantly positive correlation between the element pairs MgO-Ni, Cr-Ni and Co/FeO-Co. The dependence of Cu and SO3 contents and Cu/FeO, SO3/FeO ratios are to be interpreted as an indication of the common origin of Cu, Fe and S. In general, Cu, Zn, Pb and S content decrease with depth, whereas those of Fe3O4 increase. The variograms of the ore distributions are characterized by hole effect, trend and zonal anisotropy, which reflect alternation of ores with host rocks and changes in elemental contents. The Siirt Madenköy deposit is attributable to Cu and Zn ratios of the Cu class of ophiolitic massive sulfide deposits. Interest Rate Volatility Regimes in Selected Asian Countries:A Univariate Markov Switching Analysis

Business cycle dynamics are determined by relatively large volatilities in output,consumption,and investment,which leads to cyclical fluctuations in interest *** the Markov switching model,we model the nominal interest rate movements to explain the volatility regime shifts in a set of selected emerging Asian *** estimated results provide significant evidence of regime-dependent means,variances,and probabilities in both stable and volatile regimes in selected countries,confirming the existence of two distinct regimes in nominal interest rate *** addition,the smoothed probability results of switching autoregressive model show that the model is capable of capturing the two regimes for the corresponding nominal interest rate ***,the results reveal that the stables regimes have higher durations than the volatile *** study also shows the advantage of Markov switching models over conventional regression models,allowing the identification of different regimes for the cyclical behavior of interest rates.

Relationship between LYVE-1, VEGFR-3 and CD44 gene expressions and lymphatic metastasis in gastric cancer

AIM: To investigate the expression levels of lymphatic vessel endothelial hyaluronan receptor-1 (LYVE-1), vascular endothelial growth factor receptor-3 (VEGFR-3) and CD44 genes and the relationship between their lev- els and clinicopathological parameters in gastric ***: Tissue samples were obtained from 33 patients (8 females) with gastric cancer. mRNA levels of LYVE-1, VEGFR-3 and CD44 in normal and tumor tissues were quantitatively measured using real time polymerase chain reaction. The results were correlated with lymph node metastasis, histological type and differentiation of the tumor, T-stage, and presence of vascular, perineural and lymphatic invasions. The distribution of molecules in the tissue was evaluated using immunohistochemistry. RESULTS: LYVE-1, CD44 and VEGFR-3 gene expression levels were significantly higher in gastric cancer than in normal tissue. While there was no correlation between gene expressions and clinicopathologic fea- tures such as histologic type, differentiation and stage, gene expression levels were found to be increased in conjunction with positive lymph node/total lymph node ratio and the presence of perineural invasion. A significant correlation was also found between LYVE-1 and CD44 over-expressions and perineural invasion and lymph node positivity in gastric cancers. When the dis- tribution of LYVE-1 antibody-stained lymphatic vessels in tissue was evaluated, lymphatic vessels were located intra-tumorally in 13% and peri-tumorally in 27% of the patients. Moreover, lymph node metastases were also positive in all patients with LYVE-1-staining. CONCLUSION: LYVE-1, VEGFR-3 and CD44 all play an important role in lymphangiogenesis, invasion and metastasis. LYVE-1 is a perfectly reliable lymphatic vessel marker and useful for immunohistochemistry.

Epiretinal membrane related vascular changes in diabetic eyes evaluated with optical coherence tomography angiography

AIM:To evaluate the retinochoroidal microvascular circulation and anatomical structure of diabetic and nondiabetic patients with epiretinal membrane(ERM)with the help of optical coherence tomography angiography(OCT-A)and compare them with healthy control ***:In this prospective,cross-sectional study,a total of 165 eyes were evaluated,including 50 eyes of patients with diabetic ERM,54 eyes of idiopathic ERM(iERM)patients,and 61 eyes of healthy *** and disc angiography was performed by *** vessel density(VD)ratio was evaluated by dividing the VD of the foveal region by the VD of the parafoveal *** calculations were evaluated at the 95%confidence ***:Macula superficial VD values of ERM cases were lower than that in the control group,while foveal VD was higher in ERM *** deep VD values of ERM cases were lower in all quadrants,except the *** width of the foveal avascular zone(FAZ)area was significantly lower in the ERM groups,and the FAZ width was lowest in iERM *** superficial VD ratio was significantly higher in the ERM groups,but there was no significant difference between ERM *** deep VD ratio was significantly higher in the iERM group than in the control ***:Diabetic and idiopathic ERMs differ in their mechanism of formation and clinical presentation,as well as their effect on retinal vascular *** the relationship of increase of retinal thickness with vascular integrity can be demonstrated with OCT-A,then,OCT-A can be used as a guide for ERM prognosis.

Background: Recurrent and painful ulcers of the oral mucosa and genital skin/mucosa are the most commonly observedmanifestations in patients with disease (BD). They affect patients’quality of life. Because of the effectiveness of granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) in wound healing, it may also be useful for the treatment of oral ulcers (OU) and genital ulcers (GU) of BD. Objective: We aimed to determine the efficacy of topically applied G-CSF in the treatment of OU and GU of BD. Methods: Seven patients with BD diagnosed according to the criteria of the International Study Group for Disease were involved in the study. The patients were observed for 3months before the study,and all occurrences were recorded during this period. Patients were given topical G-CSF for OU (4 ×120 μg/day, for 5 days) and/or GU (4 ×30 μg/day, for 5 days) and followed-up for 3 months after treatment. No concurrent disease-specific or immunosuppressive topical or systemic drugs were given during the study period. Results: G-CSF treatment decreased the healing time and pain of OU and GU in six of seven patients comparedwith the pretreatment period. However, the effectiveness of the G-CSF treatment on OU and GU healing time and pain severity did not continue during the post-treatment period. Conclusions: G-CSF has beneficial effects on the healing duration and pain severity of OU and GU of patients with BD. However, given the high cost, impractical preparation and inability to cure the disease, G-CSF treatment should be chosen only in selected patients.
