Color and Gloss Changes of a Lignin-Based Polyurethane Coating under Accelerated Weathering

The purpose of this research study was to investigate the properties of polyurethane coatings based on lignin *** this purpose,the prepared coatings were applied to pine wood surfaces and weathered ***,color and gloss of the coatings were measured before and after the weathering *** emission scanning electron microscopy(FE-SEM)micrographs prepared from the coatings showed that the average size of nano-particles in the polyurethane substrate was approximately 500 *** magnetic resonance(13C-NMR)spectroscopy showed that strong urethane bonds were formed in the nano-lignin-based *** calorimetric analysis(DSC)test revealed that the glass-transition temperature(Tg)of lignin nanoparticles modified with diethylenetriamine(DETA)was 112.8℃ and Tg of lignin nano-particles modified with ethylenediamine(EDA)was 102.5℃,which is lower than the Tg of un-modified lignin(114.6℃)and lignin modified with DETA(126.8℃)and lignin modified with EDA(131.3℃).The coatings modified with lignin nano-particles had a greater change in *** lignin nano-particles in the modified coating are trapping hydroxyl radicals which reduces photoactivity and yellowing of the polyurethane by about 3 times compared to unmodified polyurethane *** weathering test,the nano-lignin-based coating had a rougher surface with a lower contact angle(0.78°)compared to the unmodified polyurethane coating(0.85°).

Use of flue gas desulfurization gypsum to reduce dissolved phosphorus in runoff and leachate from two agricultural soils

Controlling dissolved phosphorus(DP)loss from high P soil to avoid water eutrophication is a worldwide high priority.A greenhouse study was conducted in which flue gas desulfurization gypsum(FGDG)was applied by using different application methods and rates to two agricultural *** fertilizer was incorporated into the soils at 2.95 g kg^(-1)to simulate soil with high P *** FGDG was then applied at amounts of 0,1.5,and 15 g kg^(-1)soil on either the soil surface or mixed throughout the soil samples to simulate no-tillage and tillage,*** was planted after treatment *** study showed that FGDG reduced runoff DP loss by 33%and leachate DP loss 38%in silt loam soil,and runoff DP loss 46%and leachate DP loss 14%in clay loam soil,at the treatment of 15 g kg^(-1)*** applied method(tillage)provided strong interaction with higher *** overall effect,the mixing-applied method performed better in controlling DP loss from silt loam soil,while surface-applied(no tillage)showed its advantage in controlling DP loss from clay loam *** practice it is necessary to optimize FGDG concentrations,application methods,and DP sources(runoff or leachate)to get maximized benefits of FGDG *** FGDG application had no negative effects on the soil and ryegrass.

Effects of diabetes type 2 and metformin treatment in Swedish patients with colorectal cancer

The association between type 2 diabetes mellitus(DM)and colorectal cancer(CRC)has been thoroughly investigated and reports have demonstrated that the risk of CRC is increased in DM *** association between DM and the survival of patients with CRC is *** suggests that metformin with its anti-inflammatory effects is a protective factor against the development of CRC among DM patients and that metformin therapy is associated with a better prognosis in patients with *** our cohort,we did not find any associations between the presence of DM or metformin and cancer specific survival or any relation to plasma levels of a panel of 40 inflammatory factors and *** the other hand,we identified that the insulin-like growth factor binding protein 7 single nucleotide polymorphism rs2041437 was associated with DM in CRC *** dominance of the T bearing genotypes in patients with DM was statistically significant(P=0.038),with an odds ratio of 1.66(95%confidence interval:1.03-2.69).

Spatially-Structured Sharing Technique for Multimodal Problems

Spatially-structured populations are one approach to increasing genetic diversity in an evolutionary algorithm （EA）. However, they are susceptible to convergence to a single peak in a multimodal fitness landscape. Niching methods, such as fitness sharing, allow an EA to maintain multiple solutions in a single population, however they have rarely been used in conjunction with spatially-structured populations. This paper introduces local sharing, a method that applies sharing to the overlapping demes of a spatially-structured population. The combination of these two methods succeeds in maintaining multiple solutions in problems that have previously proved difficult for sharing alone （and vice-versa）.

Retinal degeneration is a debilitating ocular complication characterized by the progressive loss of photoreceptors and other retinal neurons,which are caused by a group of retinal diseases affecting various age groups,and increasingly prevalent in the ***-related macular degeneration,diabetic retinopathy and glaucoma are among the most common complex degenerative retinal disorders,posing significant public health problems worldwide largely due to the aging society and the lack of effective *** pathoetiologies vary,if left untreated,loss of retinal neurons can result in an acquired degeneration and ultimately severe visual *** of underlined etiology,loss of neurons and supporting cells including retinal pigment epithelium,microvascular endothelium,and glia,converges as the common endpoint of retinal degeneration and therefore discovery or repurposing of therapies to protect retinal neurons directly or indirectly are under intensive *** review overviews recent developments of potential neuroprotectants including neuropeptides,exosomes,mitochondrial-derived peptides,complement inhibitors,senolytics,autophagy enhancers and antioxidants either still experimentally or in clinical *** treatments that possess direct or indirect neuroprotective properties would significantly lift the burden of visual handicap.

Treatment of central precocious puberty by GnRH analogs： long-term outcome in men

In boys, central precocious puberty （CPP） is the appearance of secondary sex characteristics driven by pituitary gonadotropin secretion before the age of 9 years. In the last years, relevant improvements in the treatment of CPP have been achieved. Because CPP is rare in boys, the majority of papers on this issue focus on girls and do not address specific features of male patients regarding end results and safety. In the present paper, recent advances of CPP management with GnRH analogs in men are summarized. End results in untreated and treated patients are also reviewed by an analysis of the recently published literature on treatment of CPP in men. The available data indicate that therapy with GnRH analogs can improve final height into the range of target height without significant adverse short-term and long-term effects, but longer follow-up of larger series of patients is still required to draw definitive conclusions.

Fetal growth restriction(FGR)describes a pathological condition in which the fetus fails to fulfill its growth *** is associated with higher perinatal mortality and morbidity rates as well as a variety of long-term adverse outcomes.1–4 Unfortunately,consensus is still lacking regarding the definition and diagnostic criteria of FGR,despite the recent publication of guidelines from the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists Committee,5 International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology,6 Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine,7 and the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics.8 Further well-designed and prospective clinical studies are needed to fill in knowledge gaps in the areas of screening,prevention,surveillance,diagnosis,and clinical management for FGR *** this issue,we introduce a Chinese expert consensus on FGR(Matern Fetal Med 2022;4(3):162-168)based on three-round Delphi procedures among multidisciplinary experts and organized by the Society of Chinese Perinatal Medicine,and five reviews related to several hot topics of FGR。

在大西洋洋中脊北纬14°97′附近贫岩浆型慢速扩张脊区段的洋底岩石调查中,拖网取样及洋底钻探均发现蛇纹石化地幔岩石中有脉状纯橄岩。纯橄岩中的铬铁矿粒度以毫米级为主,个别颗粒直径接近厘米级别,成分上显示中等程度的铬值与镁值(Cr#=52.2~56.1;Mg#=44.6~51.5)较高的TiO_(2)含量(0.60%~0.91%)。铬铁矿内部包裹体中大量出现韭闪石+金云母组合,并发现自形磷灰石包裹体。这些特征与“俯冲带型铬铁矿”的成分特征及矿物包裹体组合非常类似。本文的样品观察说明在洋中脊下方的熔体通道内,高度演化的熔体可以形成小体积的富水岩浆并参与铬铁矿的形成。拖网调查与钻探研究证实,研究区的纯橄岩、异剥橄榄岩、富橄榄石橄长岩、辉石岩、辉长岩及橄榄辉长岩等均以脉体形式产于难熔的大洋岩石圈橄榄岩质地幔中。这些脉状岩石共同记录了洋中脊玄武质熔体向上迁移过程中与围岩方辉橄榄岩间的熔-岩反应,属于“交代橄榄岩”的范畴,揭示了慢速扩张洋脊之下熔体迁移诱发的复杂熔-岩相互作用。

Remediation of saline–sodic soil with flue gas desulfurization gypsum in a reclaimed tidal flat of southeast China

salinization and sodicity are obstacles for vegetation reconstruction of coastal tidal flat soils. A study was conducted with flue gas desulfurization（FGD）-gypsum applied at rates of 0, 15, 30, 45 and 60 Mg/ha to remediate tidal flat soils of the Yangtze River *** sodium percentage（ESP）, exchangeable sodium（ExNa）, p H, soluble salt concentration, and composition of soluble salts were measured in 10 cm increments from the surface to 30 cm depth after 6 and 18 months. The results indicated that the effect of FGD-gypsum is greatest in the 0–10 cm mixing soil layer and 60 Mg/ha was the optimal rate that can reduce the ESP to below 6% and decrease soil p H to neutral（7.0）. The improvement effect was reached after 6 months, and remained after 18 months. The composition of soluble salts was transformed from sodic salt ions mainly containing Na~＋, HCO_3^-＋ CO_3^（2-）and Cl-to neutral salt ions mainly containing Ca^（2＋）and SO_4^（2-）. Non-halophyte plants were survived at 90%. The study demonstrates that the use of FGD-gypsum for remediating tidal flat soils is promising.
