The value of testicular ＇mapping＇ in men with non-obstructive azoospermia

As the field of assisted reproduction has advanced, many previously untreatable men are now biological fathers. Although finding sperm in men with obstructive azoospermia is not difficult, locating and retrieving spermatozoa in men with non-obstructive azoospermia remains a clinical challenge, largely because sperm production in these men can be patchy or focal in nature. In response to this challenge, strategies such as fine-needle aspiration （FNA） mapping have been developed to find spermatozoa. This review discusses the history, evolution and current clinical utility and findings with FNA mapping for male infertility）. Review of the current literature in the English language on FNA （diagnostic or therapeutic） with a keyword focuses on sperm detection, retrieval, safety and complications. FNA was described in human medicine over 100 years ago. Testis FNA was described 45 years ago and FNA ＇mapping＇ of spermatozoa was described in 1997. This comparative review of the literature on sperm detection and complication rates with FNA and open testis biopsy or microdissection procedures suggests that FNA is highly informative, minimally invasive and is associated with fewer complications than other commonly used approaches to sperm detection in non-obstructive azoospermic patients. FNA mapping has gained considerable traction as an informative, ＇testis sparing＇ technique for sperm detection in non-obstructive azoospermia. With knowledge of sperm presence and location prior to sperm retrieval, FNA maps can help clinicians tailor sperm retrieval to optimize time, effort and extent of procedures needed to procure spermatozoa in these difficult cases.

Nonabelian Dualization of Plane Wave Backgrounds

We investigate plane-parallel wave metrics from the point of view of their (Poisson-Lie) T-dualizability. For that purpose we reconstruct the metrics as backgrounds of nonlinear sigma models on Lie groups. For construction of dual backgrounds we use Drinfel’d doubles obtained from the isometry groups of the metrics. We find dilaton fields that enable to satisfy the vanishing beta equations for the duals of the homogenous plane-parallel wave metric. Torsion potentials or B-fields, invariant w.r.t. the isometry group of Lobachevski plane waves are obtained by the Drinfel’d double construction. We show that a certain kind of plurality, different from the (atomic) Poisson-Lie T-plurality, may exist in case that metrics admit several isometry subgroups having the dimension of the Riemannian manifold. An example of that are two different backgrounds dual to the homogenous plane-parallel wave metric.

Global mapping of volumetric water retention at 100,330 and 15000 cm suction using the WoSIS database

Present global maps of soil water retention(SWR)are mostly derived from pedotransfer functions(PTFs)applied to maps of other basic soil *** an alternative,'point-based'mapping of soil water content can improve global soil data availability and *** developed point-based global maps with estimated uncertainty of the volumetric SWR at 100,330 and 15000 cm suction using measured SWR data extracted from the WoSIS Soil Profile Database together with data estimated by a random forest PTF(PTF-RF).The point data was combined with around 200 environmental covariates describing vegetation,terrain morphology,climate,geology,and hydrology using *** total,we used 7292,33192 and 42016 SWR point observations at 100,330 and 15000 cm,respectively,and complemented the dataset with 436108 estimated values at each *** cross-validation yielded a Root Mean Square Error(RMSE)of6380,7.112 and 6.48510^(-2)cm^(3)cm^(-3),and a Model Efficiency Coefficient(MEC)of0.430,0386,and 0.471,respectively,for 100,330 and 15000 *** results were also compared to three published global maps of SWR to evaluate differences between point-based and map-based mapping ***-based mapping performed better than the three map-based mapping approaches for 330 and 15000 cm,while for 100 cm results were similar,possibly due to the limited number of SWR observa-tions for 100 *** sources or uncertainty identified included the geographical clustering of the data and the limitation of the covariates to represent the naturally high variation of SWR.

Direct integration of high-mobility III-V compound semiconductors with existing Si-based complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor （CMOS） processing platforms presents the main challenge to increasing the CMOS performance and the scaling trend. Silicon hetero-nanowires with integrated III-V segments are one of the most promising candidates for advanced nano-optoelectronics, as first demonstrated using molecular beam epitaxy techniques. Here we demonstrate a novel route for InAs/Si hybrid nanowire fabrication via millisecond range liquid-phase epitaxy regrowth using sequential ion beam implantation and flash-lamp annealing. We show that such highly mismatched systems can be monolithically integrated within a single nanowire. Optical and microstructural investigations confirm the high quality hetero-nanowire fabrication coupled with the formation of atomically sharp interfaces between Si and InAs segments. Such hybrid systems open new routes for future high-speed and multifunctional nanoelectronic devices on a single chip.

Nisin Use to Control L. innocua in Experimentally Contaminated Gombasek Sausage

Meat is a rich nutrient matrix that provides a suitable environment for proliferation of meat spoilage microbiota and common food-bom pathogens, therefore adequate preservation has to be applied in order to preserve its safety and qualib：. Lantibiotic nisin is not conunonly used in the meat industry, in spite of its beneficial effect in e.g. dairy industry. Theretbre, here, the effect of nisin was searched in traditional fermented sausage Gombasek experimentally contaminated with Listeria innocua Lil strata Ihe antimicrobial effect of nisin was demonstrated by the Lil strain decrease at day 2 （after contamination） with the difference 1.79 logarithmic （log） cycles comparing with the control sausage （CLi）. At week l, the difference 4.14 log cycles was noted in the experimental sausages comparing with CLi sausages with prolonging inhibitory effect up to week 2; although the difference was diminished （1.82 log cycles）; but higher than at day 2, The pH values as well as lactic acid values were not influenced by the nisin treatment （pH value in the reference sausage was 5.0, in CLi 5.7 and in the experimental sausage E, 5.1; amount of lactic acid in t： was 0.099 mmol L^-1： and in CLi 0.107 mmol L^-1）.

Generation of high-energy neutrons with the 300-ps-laser system PALS

The laser system PALS,as a driver of a broad-beam ion source,delivered deuterons which generated neutrons with energies higher than 14 Me V through the 7Li(d,n)8 Be *** with sub-Me V energy were accelerated from the front surface of a massive CD2 target in the backward direction with respect to the laser beam ***,neutrons were emitted from the primary CD2 target and a secondary Li F *** total maximum measured neutron yield from 2D(d,n)3He,7Li(d,n)8Be,12C(d,n)13N reactions was ～3.5(±0.5) × 108 neutrons/shot.
