Giant cell hepatitis(GCH)is characterized by large and multinucleated(syncytial)hepatocytes in the context of liver *** GCH is typically associated with autoimmune hemolytic anemia in the absence of any other systemic or organ-specific autoimmune *** etiology is unknown;concomitant viral infections(as potential trigger factors)have been identified in a few *** pathogenesis reportedly relies upon immune-mediated/autoimmune *** condition should be considered in any infant developing Coombs-positive anemia;indeed,anemia usually precedes the development of *** clinical course is usually aggressive without the appropriate immunosuppressive therapy,which may include steroids,conventional immunosuppressors(e.g.,azathioprine and cyclophosphamide as first-line treatments),intravenous immunoglobulin,and biologics(rituximab).Improvements in medical management(including the availability of rituximab)have significantly reduced the mortality of this condition in the last decade.

Pyroclastic Flow from Soufrière Hills Volcano, Montserrat: Solid Block Model

The solid block model is applied to describe the motion of the pyroclastic flow under the joint action of gravity and Coulomb friction. Special attention is paid to characteristics of the pyroclastic flow generated by Montserrat volcano in likely directions. The critical friction angle of the flow propagation is evaluated empirically. Characteristic parameters of the pyroclastic flow (travel time and impact velocity) are well approximated by linear regressions. Proposed estimations of the parameters of pyroclastic flow are useful for the rough and express evaluation of its characteristics.

A correction on two dimensional KdV equation with topography

The correction on the 2D KdV equation derived by Djordjevic and Redekopp is presented. A lapsus calami in the 2D KdV equation is removed by means of the conservation principle of the energy flux in a wave ray tube. The results show that the coefficient of the third term in the inhomogeneous term of 2D KdV equation in the paper of Djordjevic and Redekopp is 2, instead of 3.
