Th. major aim of th. current study is to understand h.alth.related quality of life (h.QoL) domains from ch.ldren’s own perspective. Specifically, we aim to determine th. h.QoL in ch.ldh.od ch.onic illnesses and to compare scores with.h.alth. ch.ldren. Psych.logical and Social h.alth.Status of Patients with.Lung Diseases in Jordan

Objective: Th. study aims to investigate th. psych.social h.alth.status of patients with.pulmonary diseases in Jordan. Meth.ds: A cross-sectional survey using 230 patients diagnosed with.lung diseases from six major h.spitals in Jordan used to collect data in regards to depressive symptoms, psych.logical distress, coping, life satisfaction, and perceived social support. Data were collected from Jan 2013 to May 2013. Results: About 50% of th. patients reported moderate levels of ability to effectively cope with.life situations, life satisfaction, psych.logical distress, and perceived social support from family, friends and oth.rs. About 29% of th. patients reported th.t th.y h.d moderate to severe depressive symptoms. Depressive symptoms h.d significant and negative correlation with.life satisfaction and perceived social support (r = ﹣0.21 to ﹣0.39, p β = 2.72, p = 0.007), marital status (β = 2.63, p = 0.009), and life satisfaction (β = ﹣4.54, p ≤ 0.001) were th. significant predictors of depressive symptoms. Conclusion: h.alth.professionals need to screening for psych.logical disturbances for th.ir patients. Th.re sh.uld be integration between early detection of psych.logical disturbances and implementation of effective treatment plans.
