Efficacy of peritoneal drainage in very-low-birth-weight neonates with Bell’s stage II necrotizing enterocolitis:A single-center retrospective study

BACKGROUND Currently,pediatric surgeons are challenged by a lack of consensus on the optimal management strategy(conservative or surgical)for children with Bell’s stage II necrotizing enterocolitis(NEC).AIM To evaluate the clinical efficacy of peritoneal drainage in very-low-birth-weight(VLBW)neonates with modified Bell’s stage II NEC.METHODS This was a retrospective analysis of 102 NEC(modified Bell’s stage II)neonates born with VLBW who were treated at the Fujian Children’s Hospital(Fujian Branch of Shanghai Children’s Medical Center)between January 2017 and January 2020;these included 24 cases in the peritoneal drainage group,36 cases in the exploratory laparotomy group,and 42 cases in the conservative treatment group.RESULTS The general characteristics were comparable in the three groups(P>0.05).Compared with conservative treatment,peritoneal drainage was associated with significantly shorter fasting time,abdominal distension relief time,fecal occult blood(OB)negative conversion time,and reduced hospital length of stay(HLOS)(P0.05).Compared to exploratory laparotomy,the fecal OB negative conversion time was significantly shorter in the peritoneal drainage group(P0.05).CONCLUSION Peritoneal drainage,an easy-to-operate procedure,can improve the clinical symptoms of VLBW neonates with Bell’s stage II NEC and help reduce the HLOS.

BACKGROUND The prevention and treatment of Hirschsprung-associated enterocolitis(HAEC)is a serious challenge in pediatric surgery.Exploring the mechanism of HAEC is conducive to the prevention of this disease.AIM To explore the possible mechanism of glycyrrhizic acid(GA)and its therapeutic effect on HAEC.METHODS We developed a model of enteritis induced by trinitrobenzenesulfonic acid(TNBS)in zebrafish,and treated it with different concentrations of GA.We analyzed the effect of GA on the phenotype and inflammation of zebrafish.RESULTS After treatment with TNBS,the area of the intestinal lumen in zebrafish was significantly increased,but the number of goblet cells in the intestinal lumen was significantly reduced,but these did not increase the mortality of zebrafish,indicating that the zebrafish enteritis model was successfully developed.Different concentrations of GA protected zebrafish with enteritis.In particular,high concentrations of GA were important for the prevention and control of HAEC because it significantly reduced the intestinal luminal area,increased the number of goblet cells in the intestinal lumen,and reduced the levels of interleukin(IL)-1βand IL-8.CONCLUSION GA significantly reduced the intestinal luminal area,increased the number of intestinal goblet cells,and decreased IL-1βand IL-8 in zebrafish,and is important for prevention and control of HAEC.

Brain Cognition Mechanism-Inspired Hierarchical Navigation Method for Mobile Robots

Autonomous navigation is a fundamental problem in robotics.Traditional methods generally build point cloud map or dense feature map in perceptual space;due to lack of cognition and memory formation mechanism,traditional methods exist poor robustness and low cognitive ability.As a new navigation technology that draws inspiration from mammal’s navigation,bionic navigation method can map perceptual information into cognitive space,and have strong autonomy and environment adaptability.To improve the robot’s autonomous navigation ability,this paper proposes a cognitive map-based hierarchical navigation method.First,the mammals’navigation-related grid cells and head direction cells are modeled to provide the robots with location cognition.And then a global path planning strategy based on cognitive map is proposed,which can anticipate one preferred global path to the target with high efficiency and short distance.Moreover,a hierarchical motion controlling method is proposed,with which the target navigation can be divided into several sub-target navigation,and the mobile robot can reach to these sub-targets with high confidence level.Finally,some experiments are implemented,the results show that the proposed path planning method can avoid passing through obstacles and obtain one preferred global path to the target with high efficiency,and the time cost does not increase extremely with the increase of experience nodes number.The motion controlling results show that the mobile robot can arrive at the target successfully only depending on its self-motion information,which is an effective attempt and reflects strong bionic properties.

Postpartum depression and partner support during the period of lactation:Correlation research and its influencing factors

BACKGROUND Postpartum depression(PPD)not only affects the psychological and physiological aspects of maternal health but can also affect neonatal growth and development.Partners who are in close contact with parturient women play a key role in communication and emotional support.This study explores the PPD support relationship with partners and its influencing factors,which is believed to establish psychological well-being and improve maternal partner support.AIM To explore the correlation between PPD and partner support during breastfeeding and its influencing factors.METHODS Convenience sampling was used to select lactating women(200 women)who underwent postpartum examinations at the Huzhou Maternity and Child Health Care Hospital from July 2022 to December 2022.A cross-sectional survey was conducted on the basic information(general information questionnaire),depression level[edinburgh postnatal depression scale(EPDS)],and partner support score[dyadic coping inventory(DCI)]of the selected subjects.Pearson’s correlation analysis was used to analyze the correlation between PPD and DCI in lactating women.Factors affecting PPD levels during lactation were analyzed using multiple linear regression.RESULTS The total average score of EPDS in 200 lactating women was(9.52±1.53),and the total average score of DCI was(115.78±14.90).Dividing the EPDS,the dimension scores were:emotional loss(1.91±0.52),anxiety(3.84±1.05),and depression(3.76±0.96).Each dimension of the DCI was subdivided into:Pressure communication(26.79±6.71),mutual support(39.76±9.63),negative support(24.97±6.68),agent support(6.87±1.92),and joint support(17.39±4.19).Pearson’s correlation analysis demonstrated that the total mean score and individual dimension scores of EPDS during breastfeeding were inversely correlated with the total score of partner support,stress communication,mutual support,and cosupport(P<0.05).The total mean score of the EPDS and its dimensions were positively correlated with negative support(P<0.05).Multiple linear regression analy

We establish tighter uncertainty relations for arbitrary finite observables via(α,β,γ)weighted Wigner–Yanase–Dyson((α,β,γ)WWYD)skew information.The results are also applicable to the(α,γ)weighted Wigner–Yanase–Dyson((α,γ)WWYD)skew information and the weighted Wigner–Yanase–Dyson(WWYD)skew information.We also present tighter lower bounds for quantum channels and unitary channels via(α,β,γ)modified weighted Wigner–Yanase–Dyson((α,β,γ)MWWYD)skew information.Detailed examples are provided to illustrate the tightness of our uncertainty relations.

Hybrid Network Model Based on Data Enhancement for Short-term Power Prediction of New PV Plants

This study proposes a hybrid network model based on data enhancement to address the problem of low accuracy in photovoltaic(PV)power prediction that arises due to insuffi cient data samples for new PV plants.First,a time-series gener ative adversarial network(TimeGAN)is used to learn the distri bution law of the original PV data samples and the temporal correlations between their features,and these are then used to generate new samples to enhance the training set.Subsequently,a hybrid network model that fuses bi-directional long-short term memory(BiLSTM)network with attention mechanism(AM)in the framework of deep&cross network(DCN)is con structed to effectively extract deep information from the origi nal features while enhancing the impact of important informa tion on the prediction results.Finally,the hyperparameters in the hybrid network model are optimized using the whale optimi zation algorithm(WOA),which prevents the network model from falling into a local optimum and gives the best prediction results.The simulation results show that after data enhance ment by TimeGAN,the hybrid prediction model proposed in this paper can effectively improve the accuracy of short-term PV power prediction and has wide applicability.

Gapless Genome Assembly of ZH8015 and Preliminary Multi-Omics Analysis to Investigate ZH8015's Responses Against Brown Planthopper Infestation

Accurate genomic information is essential for advancing genetic breeding research in specific rice varieties.This study presented a gapless genome assembly of the indica rice cultivar Zhonghui 8015(ZH8015)using Pac Bio HiFi,Hi-C,and ONT(Oxford Nanopore Technologies)ultra-long sequencing technologies,annotating 43037 gene structures.Subsequently,utilizing this genome along with transcriptomic and metabolomic techniques,we explored ZH8015's response to brown planthopper(BPH)infestation.Continuous transcriptomic sampling indicated significant changes in gene expression levels around 48 h after BPH feeding.Enrichment analysis revealed particularly significant alterations in genes related to reactive oxygen species scavenging and cell wall formation.Metabolomic results demonstrated marked increases in levels of several monosaccharides,which are components of the cell wall and dramatic changes in flavonoid contents.Omics association analysis identified differentially expressed genes associated with key metabolites,shedding light on ZH8015's response to BPH infestation.In summary,this study constructed a reliable genome sequence resource for ZH8015,and the preliminary multi-omics results will guide future insect-resistant breeding research.

Skin Microbiota and the Skin Barrier

The skin constitutes the primary barrier between the human body and the external environment. The skin microbiome plays an important role in the microecosystem on the skin surface and mediates multiple facets of the skin barrier function, including physical, chemical, microbial, and immune barriers. In this review, we discuss the host–microbiota interactions in barrier maintenance and disruption, implications for skin disorders such as atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, and rosacea, and the latest strategies for targeting the skin microbiota to improve the skin barrier.

Serum procalcitonin levels are associated with rhabdomyolysis following exertional heatstroke: an over 10-year intensive care survey

BACKGROUND:Heatstroke has become a common emergency event in hospitals.Procalcitonin(PCT)is used as a biomarker of infection in the emergency department(ED),but its role in rhabdomyolysis(RM)following exertional heatstroke(EHS)remains unclear.METHODS:A retrospective cohort study enrolled patients with EHS from the intensive care unit(ICU).We collected RM biomarkers,inflammation markers,critical disease scores at admission,24 h,48 h,and discharge,and 90-day mortality.Correlation analysis,linear regression and curve fi tting were used to identify the relationship between PCT and RM.RESULTS:A total of 162 patients were recruited and divided into RM(n=56)and non-RM(n=106)groups.PCT was positively correlated with myoglobin(Mb),acute hepatic injury,disseminated intravascular coagulation(DIC),Sequential Organ Failure Assessment(SOFA)score,and Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation II(APACHE II)score,with correlation coefficients of 0.214,0.237,0.285,0.454,and 0.368,respectively(all P<0.05).Interestingly,the results of curve fi tting revealed a nonlinear relationship between PCT and RM,and a two-piecewise linear regression model showed that PCT was related to RM with an odds ratio of 1.3 and a cut-off of<4.6 ng/mL.Survival analysis revealed that RM was associated with higher mortality compared to non-RM cases(P=0.0093).CONCLUSION:High serum PCT concentrations are associated with RM after EHS in critically ill patients.Elevated PCT concentrations should be interpreted cautiously in patients with EHS in the ED.

Thermodynamic geometry of the RN-Ad S black hole and non-local observables

This paper studies the thermodynamic geometry of the Reissner–Nordstr?m-anti-de Sitter(RN-AdS)black hole via detection of the non-local observables in the dual field theory,including the entanglement entropy and equal-time two-point correlation function.With the dimensional analysis,we construct the principle of corresponding states of black hole thermodynamics.As a result,our findings can be applied to black holes with different Ad S backgrounds.In this sense,the probe of the thermodynamic geometry of the RN-Ad S black hole though the non-local observables in dual field theory has been confirmed numerically.
