To date,the clinical use of functional near-infrared spectroscopy(nIRS)to detect cerebral ischemia has been largely limited to surgical settings,where motion artifacts are *** this study,we present novel techniques to address the challenges of using nIRS to monitor ambu-latory patients with kidney disease during approximately eight hours of hemodialysis(HD)*** with end-stage kidney disease who require HD are at higher risk for cognitive impairment and dementia than age-matched *** studies have suggested that HD-related declines in cerebral blood flow might explain some of the adverse outcomes of HD ***,there are currently no established paradigms for monitoring cerebral per-fusion in real-time during HD *** this study,we used nIRS to assess cerebral hemo-dynamic responses among 95 prevalent HD patients during two consecutive HD *** observed substantial signal attenuation in our predominantly Black patient cohort that required probe *** also observed consistent motion artifacts that we addressed by devel-oping a novel nIRS methodology,called the HD cerebral oxygen demand algorithm(HD-CODA),to identify episodes when cerebral oxygen demand might be outpacing supply during HD *** then examined the association between a summary measure of time spent in cerebral deoxygenation,derived using the HD-CODA,and hemodynamic and treatment-related *** found that this summary measure was associated with intradialytic mean arterial pressure,heart rate,and volume *** studies should use the HD-CODA to implement studies of real-time nIRS monitoring for incident dialysis patients,over longer time frames,and in other dialysis modalities.

The fermentation of natural(nC)and pulped coffee(PC)was performed with a conventional method(platform)and under self-induced anaerobic fermentation(SIAF).Of the 12 samples analyzed during the fermentation process,the highest temperature was obtained by the SIAF method(30.5℃ for nC and 29.67℃ for PC)with 87 h of *** compounds(36 samples)were evaluated by high-performance liquid *** in the SIAF method contributed to the maximum amount of citric acid(2.534 mg/g)in pulped coffee and acetic acid(6.04 mg/g)and lactic acid(2.533 mg/g)in *** was the primary chemical class detected,followed by ketones and *** coffees(12 samples)were evaluated five times and classified as specialty coffees(>80 points)following Specialty Coffee Association(SCA)*** pulped coffee processed by the SIAF method showed a 2.83-point increase in the sensory score compared to the conventional ***,the SIAF method is accessible to producers,contributes to coffees with differentiated sensory profiles,and increases beverage quality.

Reconstituted wood panels have several advantages in terms of ease of manufacturing,but their shorter life span results in a huge amount of reconstituted wood panels being discarded in sorting centers ***,the most common approach for dealing with this waste is *** this study,reconstituted wood panels were converted into activated biochar through a two-step thermochemical process:(i)biochar production using pilot scale fast pyrolysis at 250 kg/h and 450℃;and(ii)a physical activation at three temperatures(750℃,850℃ and 950℃)using an in-house activation furnace(1 kg/h).Results showed that the first stage removed about 66% of the nitrogen from the wood panels in the form of nO,nH3,and trimethylamine,which were detected in small amounts compared to emitted CO_(2).Compared to other types of thermochemical conversion methods(e.g.,slow pyrolysis),isocyanic acid and hydrogen cyanide were not detected in this *** second stage produced activated biochar with a specific surface area of up to 865 m^(2)/g at 950℃.The volatile gases generated during activation were predominantly composed of toluene and *** two-step process resulted in nitrogen-rich carbon in the form of pyrrolic and pyridinic *** biochars were then evaluated for their SO_(2) retention performance and showed an excellent adsorption capacity of up to 2140 mg/g compared to 65 mg/g for a commercial activated carbon(889 m^(2)/g).End-of-life reconstituted wood panels and SO_(2) gas are problematic issues in Canada where the economy largely revolves around forestry and mining industries.

Increasing salinity of the groundwater is one of major challenges faced by agricultural sector in West Bank/Palestine. This study was carried out in the Lower Jordan Valley （LJV） under greenhouse field condition, where an area of 0.12 ha was irrigated with 3.5 dS/m magnetic treated water during the growing season 2012/2013. The results of this pilot project show that there are significant increases in the yield of red and yellow bell pepper of about 20% and 18% on fresh weight basis, respectively. Water use efficiency increased by 15% and an increase in shelf time of 7 d were also recorded. The chlorophyll content raised significantly in the leaves of treated plants compared to the controlled one by 2.5 mg/g. Bell pepper irrigated with magnetic water produces 37% more four champers than that of the controlled one. On the other hand, there were no clear significant effects on the height of the plant, number of fruits, distance between nods, size of fruits, number and thickness of walls and sugar contents. Applying visible/near infrared （VIS/n｜R） spectroscopy test shows that it is possible to distinguish between treated and controlled bell pepper fruits. Multivariate data analysis （MVDA） method was used to test the classification of chemical elements in the fruit and it was found that treated and controlled fruit samples are divided into two groups according to their water treatment. An increase in all nutrient concentrations was found in fruits irrigated with magnetic treated water compared with the controlled one. Further testing is needed especially by involving other variables such as decreasing the volume of irrigated water and fertilizers.

Childhood trauma and factors associated with depression among inpatients with cardiovascular disease

AIM To identify factors associated with depressive symptoms among inpatients with cardiovascular disease(CVD). METHODS This is a cross-sectional study performed in a subsample of a large cross-sectional research that investigated affective disorders and suicide behaviour among inpatients hospitalized in non-surgical wards of the University Hospital of the Federal University of Minas Gerais from november 2013 to October 2015. Sociodemographic and clinical data were obtained through a structured interview and medical record review. Depression was assessed by the depression subscale of the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale, with scores ≥ 8 considered as positive screening for depression. We used the Fagestr?m Test for nicotine Dependence to characterize nicotine dependence. For assessing resilience and early-life trauma, we used the raw scores of the Wagnild and Young Resilience Scale and Childhood Trauma Questionnaire, *** At endpoint, we included 137 subjects. Thirty-eight(27.7%) subjects presented depressive symptoms and nine(23.7%) of those were receiving antidepressant treatment during hospitalization. The female sex; a lower mean educational level; a greater prevalence of previous suicide attempts; a higher level of pain; a higher prevalence of family antecedents of mental disorders; a lower resilience score; and higher childhood trauma score were the factors significantly associated with screening positive for major depression(P nalysis demonstrated that the factors independently associated with the depressive symptoms were a higher childhood trauma severity(OR = 1.06; P = 0.004); moderate to severe nicotine dependence(OR = 8.58; P = 0.008); and the number of previous hospital admissions(OR = 1.11; P = 0.034). The obtained logistic model was considered valid, indicating that the three factors together distinguished between having or not depressive symptoms, and correctly classified 74.6% of individuals in the ***

Ascites is a rare manifestation of endometriosis. The case reported is that of a 26-year-old woman with recurrent massive hemorrhagic ascites. The analysis of biopsy specimens made at laparoscopy confirmed the dia.nosis. The report noted pelvic endometriosis associated but there was no umbilical or pleural involvement. The evolution was favorable under a long-term hormone treatment (by GnRH analogues) with relay through continuous estrogen-progestogen. The dia.nostic and therapeutic difficulties of this rare form of endometriosis are presented through a review of the literature.

Clay materials from Thicky in Thiès district (Senegal) are very abundant and could be used for the production of clay brick for the construction industry in Senegal and the surrounding countries. The geophysical, geotechnical, and thermal studies carried out did lead to a better comprehension of the potential of the area for clay production. It also allowed determining the physical and chemical characteristics of the clays for their use in order to make fired clay bricks. Different types of fired clay brick were produced with Thicky’s clays. The study of the physical, mechanical and thermal parameters of these raw materials and bricks has given very satisfactory results compared to the standards in use. It is noted a good ceramic behavior, and there is no deterioration observed after firing at 900°C until low residual moisture of about 3% (on a dry basis), a smooth texture with a beautiful appearance, a low loss on ignition, a low shrinkage value of less than 1% (dry), moderate water absorption and also good compressive strength. The study of thermal properties on a brick wall by the asymmetric lime plane method gives satisfactory effusivity and thermal conductivity values which are respectively equal to 746.48 J·n>K-1·n>m-2·s-1/2 and 0.42 W·n>m-1·n>k-1 with a thermal resistance of 0.0028 m2·n>K·n>W-1.

目的:本研究主要目的是评估不同骨性错(牙合)畸形上颌窦底与后牙牙根的邻近关系,因此,我们可以知道上颌后牙根在哪种骨型中更靠近上颌窦底,为正畸治疗计划提供参考。材料与方法:选择大连医科大学附属第二医院60名成人{20-35岁}中国正畸患者,根据AnB角度,将患者分为三组:骨性Ⅰ类错(牙合)(n=20),骨性II类错(牙合)(n=20),骨性Ⅲ类错(牙合)(n=20)。在CBCT扫描中从侧面和冠状视图分析每个上颌后牙根尖与上颌窦底之间的垂直关系。为了获得更准确的结果,使用两种不同的计算机软件(i CATVision,Invivo5)对牙根进行了两次检查。根据牙根与上颌窦底关系,对双侧上颌第一、第二前磨牙和磨牙进行评分(得分0-3):(0分)牙根远离窦皮质边缘,其间有松质骨区;(1分)牙根部横向投射远离窦的皮质边缘;(2分)牙根尖与上颌窦底皮质边界接触;(3)牙根尖位于上颌窦内。计算每位患者每颗牙齿的平均得分,分析性别,年龄,骨型,左右两侧和FMA角度对每位患者和牙齿平均得分的影响。结果:骨性Ⅲ类错(牙合)受试者的每位患者平均得分明显着高于骨性I类错(牙合)受试者(P=.025),骨性Ⅲ类错(牙合)受试者的平均得分明显着高于骨性II类错(牙合)受试者(P=.007),骨性I类错(牙合)受试者和骨性II类错(牙合)受试者之间无统计学差异(P=.603),表明骨性Ⅲ类错(牙合)受试者比骨性I类和II类错(牙合)受试者,其根尖更接近上颌窦底。不同骨性错(牙合)之间第一磨牙的牙齿评分平均值存在统计学差异,表明骨性Ⅲ类和I类错(牙合)以及骨性Ⅲ类和II类错(牙合)之间的平均差异具有统计学意义(分别为P=.008和.007)。骨性I类和II类错(牙合)之间无统计学差异(P值=.955)。骨性Ⅲ类错(牙合)与骨性Ⅱ类、骨性Ⅰ类患者相比,其上颌第一磨牙牙根进入上颌窦内者明显多于骨性I类和II类错(牙合)。患者评分平均值在性别,年龄,及FMA角之间P值分别为0.222、0.949、0.356,P值>0.05无统计学差异。结论:正畸医师在设计治疗计划时,通常会考虑患者骨上下颌骨矢状性关系和口颌功能情况。尤其在压低或整体移动上颌后牙通过上颌窦底时候会引起不同程度根尖吸收,因此必须更加注意上颌后牙根尖与上颌窦底之间的关系。因为上颌窦的特殊解剖特征,上颌后牙的牙根经常进入上颌窦,导致该区域牙齿移动困难。因而,研究上颌后牙牙根与上颌窦的关系,关于正畸诊断和治疗方案设计、与控制牙齿垂直向移动非常重要。结果显示,在成人(20-35岁)正常垂直骨面型中(均角FMA 22°8°)上颌后牙根与上颌窦底的临近关系与骨性错(牙合)有关。与I类和II类骨性错(牙合)相比,在骨性Ⅲ类错(牙合)中上颌后牙的牙根更接近上颌窦底。骨性Ⅲ类错(牙合)患者上颌第一磨牙牙根较骨性Ⅱ类和Ⅰ类错(牙合)患者更接近上颌窦底。性别对上颌后牙牙根与上颌窦底的距离没有影响。
