Cardia. rehabilitation is still underused in Africa, despite its cost effectiveness widely demonstrated around the world. Aim: To evaluate the results of a cardiac rehabilitation program in the first Senegalese outpatient center in low resource context. Patients and Method: We carried out a prospective and interventional study. It compared on one hand a group of coronary patients at baseline and after 6 months of our rehabilitation program and on the other hand a control group of patients not enrolled in rehabilitation. Results: We included 70 patients (30 in the rehabilitation group and 40 in the control group). After rehabilitation, the functional capacity improved: 6.99 ± 2.9 Mets at M0 vs 8.8 ± 2.23 Mets at M6, p = 0.0001. Patients of intervention group significantly increased motivation to lifestyle changes and knowledge about their disease. We found better control at 6 months of hypertension (84.50% vs 33.70%, p = 0.003), diabetes (70.00% vs 26.70%, p = 0.0042), LDL cholesterol (33.00% vs 5.00%, p = 0.002) in the group “Rehabilitation”. Prevalence of psychosocial issues like anxiety and depression decreased in intervention group: 50.00% at M0 to 23.33% at M3 (p = 0.021), then 30.00% at M6 (p = 0.18). Return to work and resuming sexual activity were not significantly different. Determinants of the Use of Health Care and Therapeutic Routes of Populations in Rural Senegalese Areas, 2016

In Senegal, access to health care for rural populations and therapeutic choices remain problematic. These problems may be synonymous with insufficient financial resources, long waits, ineffective treatments, or drug shortage in health structures, leading patients to perform various therapeutic behaviours. The aim of this present study was to identify the therapeutic routes of the patients and the determinants of the different uses of health care in the populations of Ferlo. This descriptive and analytical study was carried out as part of the medical consultation days of the 2016 summer at the university in Widou Thiengoly. All patients who met the selection criteria were enrolled. In total, the 150 participants were mainly animal breeders (63.3%) and housewives (26%), also, most were women (90.7%). The analysis of the therapeutic routes showed that the health post was used as first-line and second-line respectively in 85.3% and 59.3% of the study populations. Traditional medicine and self-medication would be used in the third intention. Therapeutic choices were independent of age (p = 0.94), marital status (p = 0.84) and occupation (p = 0.58). On the other hand, social dimensions, such as tradition, appreciation of efficiency, distance, cost, and gender, also determine the use of health care. Women used health post more frequently than men (p = 0.03) (OR: 3.89, CI95% [1.16 - 12.98]) of the order 3.89. The main reasons for self-medication practice were the treatment of headache or fever (46%) and that of fatigue (26%). The prices were more expensive for health facilities (70.9%) than for traditional healers (70% “not expensive at all”) where the waiting time was considered “not long at all” (70%).

Introduction: The gold of this work was to study the clinical and therapeutic management aspects of renal oncocytoma in our settings. Our Observations: Case 1: there was a 44-year-old patient being followed up for a urinary tract infection due to Escherichia coli. The urological CT-scan showed a tumor-like process on a horseshoe kidney. Radical nephrectomy was performed and the histology report confirmed renal oncocytoma;Case 2: it involved a 62-year-old hypertensive patient. Clinical examination revealed a grade II cystocele and medical imaging showed a tumor-like mass at the lower pole of the right kidney. Radical nephrectomy was performed and histology was concluded in favor of renal oncocytoma;Case 3: there was a 64-year-old patient monitored for chronic renal failure and on dia.ysis for 6 months. Imaging showed a heterogeneous mass developing from the kidney. Histology and immunohistochemistry confirmed renal oncocytoma. Conclusion: Imaging could contribute greatly to preoperative dia.nosis. However, there is a need to think about renal oncocytoma when evaluating kidney tissue masses.

background: Antibiotic resistance is a threat to global health. Community pharmacists are among the most accessible health professionals. Therefore, their role in improving antibiotic use and subsequently in fighting resistance is crucial. The objective of this study was to evaluate community pharmacists’ knowledge, practices and perceptions on antibiotic use and resistance. Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional study in community pharmacies located in the departments of Guedia.aye and Pikine, Senegal. The study took place between November 2017 and February 2018. A total of 121 community pharmacies were located. In each of them, we planned to include one pharmacist. A self-administered questionnaire was used. The data were analyzed using Epi Info 7. The analysis was descriptive. Variables were expressed as number (n) and percentage (%). Results: The response rate was 75.2%. The majority mistakenly thought that antibiotics are always effective against sore throat (64.8%), bronchitis (51.6%), paronychia (72.5%) and dental caries (65.9%). Most respondents knew that self-medication (96.7%), poor treatment compliance (94.5%), inappropriate antibiotic dispensing (79.1%), inappropriate antibiotic prescribing (85.7%) were causes of resistance. Further, causes such as poor hand hygiene and lack of immunization were cited by 9.9% and 6.6% of participants. Moreover, 25.2% knew that third-generation cephalosporins, macrolides and quinolones are critically important antibiotics. In addition, 96.7% and 90.2% said to dispense antibiotics without a prescription and to contact prescribers in case of doubt about the reliability of an antibiotic prescription, respectively. The majority was of the opinion that some antibiotic prescriptions were inadequate (29.7%) and that the consumption of antibiotics was high (92.3%). Conclusion: This study showed a lack of knowledge among community pharmacists practicing in Guedia.aye and Pikine towards antibiotic use and resistance. Therefore, it

Introduction: The frequency, severity, cost of treatment, morbidity and mortality of stroke make it a real public health problem. In industrialized countries, strokes are the leading cause of physical disability in adults, the second leading cause of dementia (after Alzheimer’s disease), and the third leading cause of death (after cancer and cardiovascular disease). It’s also a major cause of depression. The objective of our study was to describe the epidemiological, clinical and evolutionary aspects of stroke in the internal medicine department of Tivaouane Hospital. Material and Method: This is a retrospective study carried out from January 1, 2015 to December 31, 2018 on the files of patients hospitalized for stroke in the medical department of the EPS1 in Tivaouane. We took into account all the patients who had a brain CT (computed tomography) scan. We collected data related to socio-demographic characteristics, history, risk factors, reasons for admission, clinical signs, paraclinical examinations, as well as evolution. Results: Out of 1999 patients, 206 files of patients with stroke were collected, i.e. a proportion of 10.3%. Our study population had a mean age of 65.53 years [16 - 97 years]. We noted a clear predominance of women (50.5%). The majority of the population came from the outskirts of Tivaouane (56.7%). Risk factors for stroke were dominated by hypertension (90.3%), dyslipidemia (19.4%), previous stroke (18.9%), and dia.etes (16%). The clinical signs were dominated by a motor deficit (94.1%), speech disorders (67.4%) and consciousness disorders (47%). Ischemic strokes were predominant (65%) over hemorrhagic strokes (34.5%). The outcome was generally unfavorable with 14.6% total recovery, 58.7% recovery with sequelae and a case fatality of 26.7%. Conclusion: It emerges from this study that strokes still remain a real public health problem. Phosphorylation is one of the most important post-translational modifications(PTMs) of proteins, governing critical protein functions. Most human proteins have been shown to undergo phosphorylation,and phosphoproteomic studies have been widely applied due to recent advancements in highresolution mass spectrometry technology. Although the experimental workflow for phosphoproteomics has been well-established, it would be useful to optimize and summarize a detailed, feasible protocol that combines phosphoproteomics and data-independent acquisition(dia., along with follow-up data analysis procedures due to the recent instrumental and bioinformatic advances in measuring and understanding tens of thousands of site-specific phosphorylation events in a single experiment. Here,we describe an optimized Phos-dia.protocol, from sample preparation to bioinformatic analysis, along with practical considerations and experimental configurations for each step. The protocol is designed to be robust and applicable for both small-scale phosphoproteomic analysis and large-scale quantification of hundreds of samples for studies in systems biology and systems medicine.

Introduction-Objective: COVID-19 is a highly transmissible but often mild viral infection. However, some patients can present severe COVID-19 and subsequently die. The aim of the present study was to assess the risk factors for COVID-19 related death during the first three waves of the disease at the Epidemic Treatment Center (ETC) of Dakar Principal Hospital (DPH). Method: We conducted a descriptive and analytical perspective survival study from April 4, 2020 to September 25, 2021, including adult patients with COVID-19, hospitalized at the ETC of DPH. Log Rank test and multivariate Cox model were performed to identify risk factors for death. Results: We included 556 COVID-19 patients with mean age of 57 ± 17 years and a male-to-female ratio of 1.26. The number of deaths during one month of follow-up was 41, representing a cumulative risk of 7.4%. The log Rank test showed that being from the third wave (p = 0.0056), advanced age (p = 0.00098), presence of at least one comorbidity (p = 0.034), High blood pressure (p = 0.024), d-dimer level ≥ 1000 IU/L (p Conclusion: Our study showed that elderly and third-wave of COVID-19 patients were more at risk to die. Knowledge of risk factors for COVID-19 related death could improve the prognosis of these patients.

为了深入揭示水轮机调节系统的非线性本质,研究了非线性水轮机调节系统的建模及动力学问题.在引水系统为复杂管道情况下,考虑水轮机调节系统中传递系数随运行工况变化而呈现的非线性,引入水轮机非线性传递系数,建立了复杂引水管系时的水轮机调节系统非线性数学模型.使用直接代数判据进行理论分析,得到了系统Hopf分支临界点组成的曲线.理论分析表明:水轮机调节系统响应在曲线的一侧区域内是稳定的,在另一侧是不稳定的.通过数值模拟,分析了Hopf分叉点两侧水轮机调节系统稳定性的变化情况,验证了理论分析结果的正确性,得到了使水轮机调节系统处在稳定区域内的调速器PID参数的范围.通过分岔图、Poincare映射图、功率谱图、时域图、相轨迹图、频谱图等,综合分析了随水轮机调节系统参数变化时,系统非线性动力学行为特性.该分析方法与结果,可为水电站系统的安全稳定运行提供理论依据.
