High-dimensional and sparse(HiDS)matrices commonly arise in various industrial applications,e.g.,recommender systems(RSs),social networks,and wireless sensor networks.Since they contain rich information,how to accurately represent them is of great significance.A latent factor(LF)model is one of the most popular and successful ways to address this issue.Current LF models mostly adopt L2-norm-oriented Loss to represent an HiDS matrix,i.e.,they sum the errors between observed data and predicted ones with L2-norm.Yet L2-norm is sensitive to outlier data.Unfortunately,outlier data usually exist in such matrices.For example,an HiDS matrix from RSs commonly contains many outlier ratings due to some heedless/malicious users.To address this issue,this work proposes a smooth L1-norm-oriented latent factor(SL-LF)model.Its main idea is to adopt smooth L1-norm rather than L2-norm to form its Loss,making it have both strong robustness and high accuracy in predicting the missing data of an HiDS matrix.Experimental results on eight HiDS matrices generated by industrial applications verify that the proposed SL-LF model not only is robust to the outlier data but also has significantly higher prediction accuracy than state-of-the-art models when they are used to predict the missing data of HiDS matrices.

Host defense peptides(HDPs)are small molecules with broad-spectrum antimicrobial activities against infectious bacteria,viruses,and fungi.Increasing evidence suggests that HDPs can also indirectly protect hosts by modulating their immune responses.Due to these dual roles,HDPs have been considered one of the most promising antibiotic substitutes to improve growth performance,intestinal health,and immunity in farm animals.This review describes the antimicrobial and immunomodulatory roles of host defense peptides and their recent applications in animal production.

In this paper, we study the stability of shear flows of Prandtl type as(U(y/√ν), 0) for the steady Navier-Stokes equations under a natural spectral assumption on the linearized NS operator. The key ingredient is to solve the Orr-Sommerfeld equation. For this, we develop a direct energy method combined with the compactness method, which may be of independent interest.

This work focuses on the asynchronous controller design for two-dimensional Markov jump cyberphysical systems against denial-of-service attacks. Firstly, due to the openness of the network, it is vulnerable to cyber-attacks, resulting in the control input signal may not being sent to the designated location. Meanwhile, considering the influence of transmission delays and unavoidable packet dropout, a hidden Markov model can help to deal with the unavoidable asynchronous phenomenon between the plant mode and the controller mode. Then, by introducing the concepts of time instants and global states into two-dimensional systems, an asynchronous control scheme for two-dimensional Markov jump cyber-physical systems is successfully formulated. Subsequently, recurring to the multi-Lyapunov function method and iterative technology,sufficient conditions are achieved to make sure that the dynamic hidden two-dimensional Markov jump cyberphysical systems are asymptotically mean-square stable. To conclude, an application example related to the metal rolling process is provided to illustrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the presented asynchronous control scheme under aperiodic denial-of-service attacks.

In this paper, we prove the L^(∞)∩ L^(2) stability of Prandtl expansions of the shear flow type as(U(y/ν1/2), 0)for the initial perturbation in the Gevrey class, where U(y) is a monotone and concave function and ν is the viscosity coefficient. To this end, we develop the direct resolvent estimate method for the linearized Orr-Sommerfeld operator instead of the Rayleigh-Airy iteration method. Our method could be applied to the other relevant problems of hydrodynamic stability.

ZrO_(2)-YO_(1.5)-TaO_(2.5)(ZYTO)is a promising top-coat material for thermal barrier coatings(TBCs).The bulk properties of ZYTO have been reported by several studies,but its performances as TBCs are less-well understood.In this work,ZYTO TBCs were prepared by air plasma spraying(APS)and their thermal cycling performances were investigated at 1150℃.Despite of the good bulk properties,APS ZYTO TBCs present an extremely short thermal fatigue life.This is attributed to the non-equilibrium grain-boundary segregation of TaO_(2.5) induced by limited solubility and rapid quenching during APS process,resulting in a tetragonal(t)to cubic(c)and metastable-tetragonal(tm)phase transformation in ZYTO TBCs.The volume shrinkage(~0.74vol%)of phase transformation leads to many cracks at the c/tm phase boundaries after deposition.On the other hand,the formation of cubic phase with massive grain-boundary Ta segregation induces a large intergranular embrittlement and a weak bonding strength(~5.3 MPa),resulting in the premature failure of the ZYTO TBCs.
