AIM:To determin. if the presen.e H pylori or its viru- len.e affect toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) an. TLR5 mRn. expression.levels. METHODS:For the in.vivo assays, gastric biopsies were obtain.d from 40 patien.s an. H pylori status was determin.d. For the in.vitro assays, human.gastric aden.carcin.ma mucosal cells (AGS) were cultured in.the presen.e or absen.e of twelve selected H pylori strain.. H pylori strain. isolated from culture-positive patien.s an. selected strain. were gen.typed for cagA an. vacA. The cDn. was obtain.d from mRn. extracted from biopsies an. from in.ected AGS cells. TLR4 an. TLR5 mRn. levels were examin.d by real-time PCR. RESULTS: The presen.e of H pylori did n.t affect the mRn. levels of TLR4 or TLR5 in.gastric biopsies. The mRn. levels of both receptors were n.t in.luen.ed by the vacA status (P > 0.05 for both receptors) an.there were n. differen.es in.TLR4 or TLR5 mRn. levels amon. the differen. clin.cal presen.ation./histological fi n.0}n.s (P > 0.05). In.the in.vitro assay, the mRn. levels of TLR4 or TLR5 in.AGS cells were n.t in.luen.ed by the vacAs1 status or the clin.cal con.0}tion.as-sociated with the strain. (P > 0.05 for both TLR4 an. TLR5). COn.LUSIOn. The results of this study show that the mRn. levels of TLR4 an. TLR5 in.gastric cells, both in.vivo an. in.vitro, are in.epen.en. of H pylori colon.zation.an. suggest that vacA may n.t be a sign.fican. player in.the first step of in.ate immun. recogn.tion.mediated by TLR4 or TLR5.

AIM： To determin. whether differen. in.ravitreal doses of quin.pristin.dalfopristin.lead to electroretin.graphic or histological chan.es in.the rabbit retin. over on. mon.h period after in.ection. METHODS： Eighteen.n.w Zealan. white rabbits were divided in.o three treatmen. groups （groups 1 to 3） an. differen. in.ravitreal doses of quin.pristin.dalfopristin.were tested in.each group. The right eye was in.ected with the drug an. the left eye received in.ravitreal in.ection.of 5% dextrose water an. served as con.rol eye. The doses delivered to each group were 0.1 mg/0.1 mL, 1 mg/0.1 mL an. 10 mg/0.1 mL. Simultan.ous, bilateral, dark-adapted electroretin.graphy an. clin.cal images of both eyes were obtain.d in.all groups before in.ection.（baselin.） an. after 7, 14, 21 an. 28d, followed by en.cleation.for histological examin.tion. RESULTS： Subjects in.the group 1 showed n. sign. of toxicity in.the electroretin.gram when.compared with groups 2 an. 3 （Kruskall-Wallis test, P=0.000）. By day 7, n. electrical respon.e to light stimuli was recorded in.the treated eyes in.groups 2 an. 3, con.isten. with severe damage due to retin.l toxicity. Light microscopy revealedn. sign.fican. histopathological chan.es in.the group 1, while rabbits in.groups 2 an. 3 had sign. of gran.lomatous in.lammation.in.most cases. COn.LUSIOn. Backgroun.: Pathological myopia can.be complicated by the presen.e of posterior staphyloma, macular atrophy, ruptures in.Bruch’s membran., pathologic choroidal n.ovascularization. an. differen. degrees of myopic traction.maculopathy. Purpose: To report the structural, fun.tion.l an. perfusion.l outcomes in.patien.s un.erwen. surgery for differen. stages of myopic traction.maculopathy (MTM). Methods: A retrospective, con.ecutive, comparative, in.erven.ion.l, on.-surgeon. case-con.rol study was con.ucted in.46 eyes of 34 in.0}viduals between.April 2015 an. May 2021. Participan.s in.luded n.rmal emmetropic eyes (Con.rol emmetropia, n.= 25), healthy myopic eyes (Con.rol high myopia, n.= 20), an. operated an. structurally fully resolved myopic eyes with differen. stages of MTM (Surgically treated group, n.= 46). Lon.-term postoperative fun.tion.l an. perfusion.l follow-up evaluation. were performed with spectral domain.optical coheren.e tomography (SD-OCT) an. OCT an.iography. The primary outcome measure in.luded lon.-term fun.tion.l, structural an. perfusion.macular status across groups. Results: Forty-six eyes in.34 patien.s were in.luded in.the study group, with both eyes affected in.12 (26.3%) patien.s. The mean.axial len.th was 29.89 ± 1.67 mm. The preoperative logMAR was 1.29 ± 0.54 an. the postoperative logMAR was 0.60 ± 0.52 (P Con.lusion. Compared to emmetropic an. healthy myopic eyes, surgically-resolved MTM eyes gen.rally have larger superficial foveal avascular zon. area, lower vessel den.ity, smaller choriocapillaris flow area, thin.er cen.ral subfoveal thickn.ss, an. more macular defects. Eyes with stage III or IV MTM had larger deviation.compared to eyes at earlier stages. Visual fun.tion.chan.e after surgery was associated with superficial foveal avascular zon. area. Better fun.tion.l, structural an. perfusion.in.ex outcomes were observed when.highly myopic eyes un.erwen. early surgery.
