Herbal extraction residues(HERs)cause serious environmental pollution and resource waste.In this study,a novel green route was designed for the comprehensive reutilization of all components in HERs,taking Magnolia officinalis residues(MOR)as an example.The reluctant structure of MOR was first destroyed by alkali pretreatment to release the functional ingredients(magnolol and honokiol)originally remaining in MOR and to make MOR more accessible for hydrolysis.A metal–organic frame material MIL-101(Cr)with a maximum absorption capacity of 255.64 mg g^(-1)was synthesized to absorb the released honokiol and magnolol from the pretreated MOR solutions,and 40 g L^(-1)reducing sugars were obtained with 81.8%enzymatic hydrolysis rate at 10%MOR solid loading.Finally,382 mg L-1β-amyrin was produced from MOR hydrolysates by an engineered yeast strain.In total,1 kg honokiol,8 kg magnolol,and 7.64 kg β-amyrin could produce from 1 ton MOR by this cleaner process with a total economic output of 170,700 RMB.

The taste presentation and receptor perception mechanism of the salty peptide of Stropharia rugosoannulata were predicted and verified using peptide omics and molecular interaction techniques.The combination of aspartic acid(D)and glutamic acid(E),or peptide fragments composed of arginine(R),constitute the characteristic taste structural basis of salty peptides of S.rugosoannulata.The taste intensity of the salty peptide positively correlates with its concentration within a specific concentration range(0.25–1.0 mg/mL).The receptor more easily recognizes the first amino acid residue at the N-terminal of salty peptides and the aspartic acid residue in the peptides.GLU513,ASP707,and VAL508 are the critical amino acid residues for the receptor to recognize salty peptides.TRPV1 is specifically the receptor for recognizing salty peptides.Hydrogen bonds and electrostatic interactions are the main driving forces for the interactions between salty peptides and TRPV1 receptors.KSWDDFFTR has the most potent binding capacity with the receptor and has tremendous potential for application in sodium salt substitution.This study confirmed the taste receptor that specifically recognizes salty peptides,analyzed the receptor-peptide binding interaction,and provided a new idea for understanding the taste receptor perception of salty peptides.

The accelerated arriving of 5G era has brought a new round of intelligent transformation which will completely emancipate smart terminal devices.While the subsequent deleterious effect of electromagnetic wave on electronic devices is increasingly serious,driving the growth of next-generation electromagnetic wave absorbents.As a tactful combination of components and structures,three-dimensional(3D)macroscopic absorbents with fascinating synergy afford exceptional electromagnetic wave absorption,and tremendous efforts have been devoted to this investigation.However,in terms of macroscopic absorbents and their synergistic effect,few reviews are proposed to comb the latest achievements and detailed synergy.This review article focuses on the synergistic effect of macro-architectured absorbents mainly including structure-induced synergy,structure-components synergy,and multiple-components induced synergy.And then the potential construction principles and strategies of macroscopic absorbents are combed.Significantly,the key information for structures and components manipulation including nano-micro design and components regulation is further dissected by critically selected cutting-edge 3D macroscopic absorbents.Moreover,a brief summary of multifunctional electromagnetic wave absorbents(EWAs)-based macroscopic structures is presented.Finally,the development prospects and challenges of these materials are discussed.

Objective:Sex-specific differences are observed in various liver diseases,but the influence of sex on the outcomes of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)after liver transplantation(LT)remains to be determined.This study is the first Chinese nationwide investigation of the role of sex in post-LT outcomes in patients with HCC.Methods:Data for recipients with HCC registered in the China Liver Transplant Registry between January 2015 and December 2020 were analyzed.The associations between donor,recipient,or donor-recipient transplant patterns by sex and the post-LT outcomes were studied with propensity score matching(PSM).The survival associated with different sex-based donor-recipient transplant patterns was further studied.Results:Among 3,769 patients enrolled in this study,the 1-,3-,and 5-year overall survival(OS)rates of patients with HCC after LT were 96.1%,86.4%,and 78.5%,respectively,in female recipients,and 95.8%,79.0%,and 70.7%,respectively,in male recipients after PSM(P=0.009).However,the OS was comparable between recipients with female donors and male donors.Multivariate analysis indicated that male recipient sex was a risk factor for post-LT survival(HR=1.381,P=0.046).Among the donor-recipient transplant patterns,the male-male donor-recipient transplant pattern was associated with the poorest post-LT survival(Pdings highlighted that the post-LT outcomes of female recipients were significantly superior to those of male recipients,and the male-male donor-recipient transplant pattern was associated with the poorest post-LT survival.Livers from male donors may provide the most benefit to female recipients.Our results indicate that sex should be considered as a critical factor in organ allocation.

Oceanic uptake and storage of anthropogenic CO_(2)(CANT)are regulated by ocean circulation and ventilation.To decipher the storage and redistribution of CANT in the western North Pacific,where a major CANT sink develops,we investigated the water column carbonate system,dissolved inorganic radiocarbon and ancillary parameters in May and August 2018,spanning the Kuroshio Extension(KE,35-39°N),Kuroshio Recirculation(KR,27-35°N)and subtropical(21-27°N)zones.Water column CANT inventories were estimated to be 40.5±1.1 mol m^(-2) in the KR zone and 37.2±0.9 mol m^(-2) in the subtropical zone.In comparison with historical data obtained in 2005,relatively high rates of increase of the CANT inventory of 1.05±0.20 and 1.03±0.12 mol m^(-2) yr^(-1) in the recent decade were obtained in the KR and subtropical zones,respectively.Our water-mass-based analyses suggest that formation and transport of subtropical mode water dominate the deep penetration,storage,and redistribution of CANT in those two regions.In the KE zone,however,both the water column CANT inventory and the decadal CANT accumulation rate were small and uncertain owing to the dynamic hydrology,where the naturally uplifting isopycnal surfaces make CANT penetration relatively shallow.The findings of this study improve the understanding of the spatiotemporal variations of CANT distribution,storage,and transport in the western North Pacific.

Auditory systems are the most efficient and direct strategy for communication between human beings and robots.In this domain,flexible acoustic sensors with magnetic,electric,mechanical,and optic foundations have attracted significant attention as key parts of future voice user interfaces(VUIs)for intuitive human–machine interaction.This study investigated a novel machine learning-based voice recognition platform using an MXene/MoS_(2) flexible vibration sensor(FVS)with high sensitivity for acoustic recognition.The performance of the MXene/MoS_(2) FVS was systematically investigated both theoretically and experimentally,and the MXene/MoS_(2) FVS exhibited high sensitivity(25.8 mV/dB).An MXene/MoS_(2) FVS with a broadband response of 40–3,000 Hz was developed by designing a periodically ordered architecture featuring systematic optimization.This study also investigated a machine learning-based speaker recognition process,for which a machine-learning-based artificial neural network was designed and trained.The developed neural network achieved high speaker recognition accuracy(99.1%).

Macroporous hydrogels are water-swollen polymer networks with porous structures beyond the mesh size.They provide high specific surface areas and hieratical mass transfer channels which are desired for emerging applications including cell culturing,bio-separation,and drug delivery.A variety of approaches have been developed to fabricate macroporous hydrogels,including gas foaming,porogen templating,phase separation,3D printing,etc.Alternatively,ice templating utilizes the crystallization of water as the porogenation mechanism which doesn't need the leaching of porogens.

This paper aims to improve the corrosion resistance of dispersive purging plugs.White fused corundum particles and fine powder,α-Al_(2)O_(3) micropowder,Cr_(2)O_(3) micropowder,Guangxi clay and zircon powder were used as the main raw materials.The mass ratio of white fused corundum particles and fine powder was fixed at 85:15,and 0,1%,2%,or 3%(by mass)of zircon fine powder was added to replace the same amount of white fused corundum fine powder.The corundum porous material was prepared by the particle stacking pore-forming method at 1650℃for 3 h.The effect of the zircon addition on the properties and microstructure of porous materials was investigated.The results show that:after adding zircon,the permeability of the porous material increases,the cold and hot strengths increase obviously,and the expansion rate after firing decreases.When the addition of zircon is 2%,the comprehensive performance of the specimen is optimal with the smallest linear change rate and the highest permeability.

Synthetic dimensions(SDs)opened the door for exploring previously inaccessible phenomena in high-dimensional space.However,construction of synthetic lattices with desired coupling properties is a challenging and unintuitive task.Here,we use deep learning artificial neural networks(ANNs)to construct lattices in real space with a predesigned spectrum of mode eigenvalues,and thus to validly design the dynamics in synthetic mode dimensions.By employing judiciously chosen perturbations(wiggling of waveguides at desired frequencies),we show resonant mode coupling and tailored dynamics in SDs.Two distinct examples are illustrated:one features uniform synthetic mode coupling,and the other showcases the edge defects that allow for tailored light transport and confinement.Furthermore,we demonstrate morphing of light into a topologically protected edge mode with modified Su-Schrieffer-Heeger photonic lattices.Such an ANN-assisted construction of SDs may advance toward“utopian networks,”opening new avenues for fundamental research beyond geometric limitations as well as for applications in mode lasing,optical switching,and communication technologies.
