Burans is an evergreen tree that bears fowers with colors ranging from bright red to pink and are distributed throughout the *** fowers of Burans exhibit many therapeutic,nutritional,and aromatic properties along with diverse health *** characteristics of Burans can have a great impact on the quality of alcoholic wines and provide value addition to the Burans fowers as a fermented product,which is otherwise ***,in this study,Burans fowers were used for the preparation of a new favor of the wine to enhance the utility of this *** time(5,8 and 11 days),temperature(30,32 and 34℃),pH(3.5,4.0 and 4.50),and total soluble solids(TSS:22,24 and 26°Bx)were varied to identify the most suitable conditions for high-quality wine *** titratable acidity,reducing sugar,pH,and TSS of Burans wine were analyzed after fermentation which ranged from 0.36 to 0.78%,9.8 to 13.3%,3.43 to 4.13,and 6.9 to 16.8ºBx,*** study also provides a useful benchmark for the industrial production of Burans fower wine with a standard alcohol content of 14.1%.

AIM: To determine the role of subjective assessment using Mc Monnies dry eye questionnaire in diagnosing dry eye disease and its association with clinical ***: There were 500 patients screened for dry eye using Mc Monnies dry eye questionnaire between May to October 2013 at the outpatient Department of Ophthalmology of a medical college hospital. All 500 patients were subjected to clinical tests. Dry eye was defined as having one or more symptoms often or all the time. Positive signs were if one or both eyes revealed tear film breakup time(TBUT) of ≤10s, a Schirmer test score of ≤10 mm, a Rose Bengal staining score of ≥1, a Lissamine green staining score of ≥1 or existence of meibomian gland disease(≥grade 1). Statistical analysis was performed to describe the distribution of symptoms and signs, to assess the correlations between Mc Monnies score(MS) and variable clinical signs of dry eye, and to explore the association between dry eye symptoms and variable clinical signs. Analysis was performed using software package Epi info. A Probability(P) value using Chi-square test of 20), 75.86% had a low TBUT(<10s), 58.62% had a low Schirmer’s I test(≤10 mm),86.20% had Rose Bengal staining score of ≥1, 79.31%had Lissamine green staining score of ≥1. We found statistically significant associations between positive Schirmer test and arthritis(P <0.002), dryness elsewhere(P <0.001), contact lens use(P < 0.002), systemic medication(P <0.0001), sleeping with eyes partly open(P <0.002), history of dry eyes treatment(P <0.0001),environmental factors(P <0.001), swimming(P <0.001).· CONCLUSION: Subjective assessment plays an important role in diagnosing dry eye disease. Atrial fibrillation(AF) and heart failure(HF) are complex clinical entities that occur concomitantly in a significant population of patients, and their prevalence is rising in epidemic proportions. Traditionally, both rate and rhythm control strategies have been regarded as equivalent in the management of dysrhythmia in this AF-HF cohort with escalation of treatment largely guided by symptoms. Both disorders are involved in an elaborate pathophysiological interplay with shared cardiovascular risk factors that contribute to the development and sustenance of both AF and HF. Recent studies and continued development of evidence to support catheter ablation for AF has brought into question the traditional belief in equivalence between rate and rhythm control. Indeed, recent trials, in particular the CASTLE-AF(Catheter Ablation versus Standard Conventional Therapy in Patients with Left Ventricular Dysfunction and Atrial Fibrillation) study, suggest that catheter ablation for AF improves survival and rates of hospitalisation in patients with concomitant HF and AF, threatening a paradigm shift in the management of this patient cohort. The evident mortality benefit from clinical trials suggests that catheter ablation for AF should be considered as a therapeutic intervention in all suitable patients with the AF-HF syndrome as these patients may derive the greatest benefit from restoration of sinus rhythm. Further research is needed to refine the evidence base, especially to determine which subgroup of HF patients benefit most from catheter ablation and what is the optimal timing.

Inhibition of nitrification in soil by metal diethyldithiocarbamates

Nitrification acts as a key process in determining fertilizer use efficiency by crops as well as nitrogen losses from soils. Metal dithiocarbamates in addition to their pesticidal properties can also inhibit biological oxidation of ammonium(nitrification) in soil. Metal [M=V(Ⅲ), Cr(Ⅲ), Mn(Ⅱ), Fe(Ⅲ), Ni(Ⅱ), Cu(Ⅱ), Zn(Ⅱ) and Co(Ⅱ)] diethyldithiocarbamates (DEDTC) were synthesized by the reaction of sodium diethyldithiocarbamate with metal chloride in dichloromethane/water mixture. These metal diethyldithiocarbamates were screened for their ability to inhibit nitrification at different concentrations(10 μg/g soil, 50 μg/g soil and 100 μg/g soil). With increasing concentration of the complex, capacity to retard nitrification increased but the extent of increase varied for different metals. At 100 μg/g soil, different complexes showed nitrification inhibition from 22 36% to 46 45%. Among the diethyldithiocarbamates tested, Zn(DEDTC) 2 proved to be the most effective nitrification inhibitor at 100 μg/g soil. Manganese, iron and chromium diethyldithiocarbamates also proved to be effective nitrification inhibitors than the others at 100 μg/g soil. The order of percent nitrification inhibition in soil by metal diethyldithiocarbamates was: Zn(Ⅱ) > Mn(Ⅱ) > Fe(Ⅲ) > Cr(Ⅲ) >V(Ⅲ) > Co(Ⅱ) > Ni(Ⅱ) > Cu(Ⅱ).
