A plasma column excited by a surface wave can act as a plasma antenna. Experiments are carried out to study the current and conductivity distributions, field, power patterns, directivity and efficiency of such a plasma antenna. In addition, an equivalent metallic copper antenna is built up and its antenna parameters are compared with that of the plasma antenna. Our findings indicate that the power content in the harmonics of the plasma antenna is more prominent as compared to the copper antenna （which only generates a fundamental frequency）. However, the power patterns for both antennae are quite similar. To provide a more qualitative understanding regarding the generation of harmonics in the field of the plasma antenna, a bi-spectral analysis is performed to study the nonlinear interactions in the current fluctuations. Some specific features of the plasma antenna are investigated in our study, which may enhance the application prospect of the plasma antenna with respect to the conventional metallic antenna.

Reoperation for early postoperative complications after gastric cancer surgery in a Chinese hospital

AIM:To investigate the occurrence of postoperative complications of gastric cancer surgery,and analyze the potential causes of reoperation for early postoperative complications. METHODS:A total of 1639 patients who underwent radical or palliative gastrectomies for gastric cancer were included in the *** study endpoint was the analysis of postoperative complications in inpatients. RESULTS:About 31%of patients had early postoperative complications,and complications of infection occurred most ***-abdominal hemorrhage and anastomotic leak were the main causes of reoperation,which accounted for about 2.2%.Mortality was 11.1%in the reoperation group,but was only 0.8%in other *** duration of postoperative stay in hospital was significantly longer and the total expenditure was markedly higher in the patients who underwent reoperation(P<0.001).There was no significant association of any available factors in this study with the high rate of ***:Reoperation significantly increases the mortality rate and raises the burden of the surgical *** prospective studies are required to explore the potential risk factors.

AIM:To investigate the role of sex hormones in the early postoperative complications of gastrointestinal diseases. METHODS:A total of 65 patients who underwent operations for gastric and colorectal diseases(mainly malignant diseases)were included in the study. Peripheral venous blood samples were collected at different times for analysis of estradiol,testosterone and *** only study endpoint was analysis of postoperative complications. RESULTS:Patients of both sexes were uniform but postoperative complication rate was significantly higher in female patients(P=0.027).There was no significant association of estradiol and progesterone with postoperative *** levels in complicated patients were significantly lower than in uncomplicated patients(P<0.05).Area under the receiver operating characteristic curve showed that a lower value of testosterone was a predictor for higher complication rate(P<0.05),and a lower value oftestosterone at later times after surgery was a better predictor of complications. CONCLUSION:Patients with low testosterone level were prone to higher postoperative complications,which was evident in both ***,further studies are necessary to support this result.

Nainital City of Kumaun Lesser Himalaya is prone to mass wasting processes during monsoon season,which mischievously triggers the hill slope instability in this region. Slate, dolomitic limestone, silty sandstone and rhythmite of the Krol Formation are the main rock types. The present study focuses on the investigation of slope stability in the region in terms of potential seismicity and landslide. Geological and geotechnical mapping indicates that the major portion of the area is characterized by slope wash materials and buildings. The combination of 3-4 joint sets with one random joint is the main structure at *** major geological structures of this area are Nainital lake fault passing from the center of the lake, Main Boundary Thrust at SW, and Khuriya Fault passing from the SE direction of Nainital City. This work finds that different types of discontinuities(e.g. joints and faults), overburden due to unplanned civil structures,and neotectonic activity in the vicinity of this ara affect the stability of the city. The slate forms the base of the city, dipping slightly towards the lake side along the NW direction, thus accelerating the instability of this area. Rock mass rating(RMR), slope mass rating, factor of safety(FOS) and graphical analysis of the discontinuity for slope kinematics indicate that the study area is a landslide-prone zone. This study can facilitate reducing the risk of human life, and contribute to the ongoing construction works in the area.

Karakoram Himalaya(KH) has continental climatic conditions and possesses largest concentration of glaciers outside the polar regions. The melt water from these glaciers is a major contributor to the Indus river. In this study, various methods have been used to estimate the ice volume in the Karakoram Range of glaciers such as Coregistration of Optically Sensed Images and Correlation(COSI-Corr) method and Area-Volume relations. Landsat 8 satellite data has been used to generate the ice displacement, velocity and thickness map. Our study for 558 Karakoram glaciers revealed that the average ice thickness in Karakoram is 90 m. Ground Penetrating Radar(GPR) survey has been conducted in one of the KH glacier i.e. Saser La glacier and the collected GPR data is used for the validation of satellite derived thickness map. GPR measured glacier thickness values are found comparable with satellite estimated values with RMSE of 4.3 m. The total ice volume of the Karakoram glaciers is estimated to be 1607±19 km3(1473±17 Gt), which is equivalent to 1473±17 km3 of water equivalent. Present study also covers the analysis of glacier surface displacement, velocity and ice thickness values with reference to glacier mean slope.

In current situation reliability is a rapidly growing concern in contemporary server hardware industry, both for server administrator as well as software developers. To improve reliability and dependability, system designers and programmers must consider having the functionality to enable the tracing log to detect any kind of server failure problem. To improve operating system dependability, systems designers and programmers must analyze and understand the failure data to find the real culprit. Recent trends on the software industry have shown that the number of software development projects and their increasing complexity will continue to increase the demand for skilled programmers. However, debugging technology and techniques have not kept pace and valuable programmer resources are being wasted in debugging cycles. Correcting this trend requires innovative approaches and ways to assisting programmers during the debugging cycle to make them more productive both time wise and with respect to how thoroughly the OS and software are debugged and troubleshoot.Microsoft also provides infrastructure to harvest and analyze error reports from Windows systems. This infrastructure makes it possible for System engineer to harvest and analyze their organization's problem with relatively modest investments.The main purpose of this dissertation is to research Windows internal architecture and analyze Windows dump for crash and hang problem to find out the culprit. This dissertation also introduces lots of useful tips and tricks for debugging Windows kernel memory. In this dissertation both Windows usermode and kernelmode components are discussed in detail to understand Windows internal data structure which is required to troubleshoot memory corruption and code overwrite problems. Purpose: To analyze the computed tomography(CT) findings and the reasons for misdiagnosis of female pelvic ***: The clinical and CT features of 32 cases of female pelvic tuberculosis identified over a five-year period(2010-2015) were retrospectively analyzed. The CT features were analyzed for nature, range and extent of the various pathological ***: Because of the non-specific clinical and CT features, 20 of 32 cases were misdiagnosed either as ovarian tumor, or chocolate cyst, or PID preoperatively and received surgery. The mean age of the patients was 29.97 years(age range 15-67 years). Elevated levels of serum CA125 were found in 29 patients(90.62%, 29/32). The CT findings were as follows: 1. Pelvic mass(87.5%, 28/32): unilateral adnexal mass was in 15 cases, bilateral in 13 cases, 8 masses were cystic, 10 were solid, 23 were mixed, 24 masses showed multilocular caseous necrotic enhancement;2. Ascites(40.62%, 13/32): 8 of 13 cases showed high density ascites(CT value >18 HU);3. Thickening and enhancement of peritoneum(37.5%, 12/32): nodulously thickened in 7 cases, smoothly in 5 cases;4. Adhesion in the abdominopelvic cavity(28.12%, 9/32);5. Lymphadenopathy(21.87%, 7/32): calcified in 4 cases, low attenuation necrotic lymph nodes with ring enhancement in 2 cases;6. Thickening and enhancement of bowel wall(15.62%, 5/32).Conclusions: Integrated with clinical history and laboratory tests, pelvic tuberculosis should be considered in young female patients with elevated CA125 and CT findings ofadnexal mixed(solid and cystic) mass with multilocular caseous necrotic enhancement, high density ascites, thickened and enhanced peritoneum. Grain size plays a significant role in rice,starting from affecting yield to consumer preference,which is the driving force for deep investigation and improvement of grain size *** inheritance makes these traits complex to breed on account of several alleles contributing to the complete trait *** employed genome-wide association study in an association panel of 88 rice genotypes using 142 new candidate gene based SSR(cgSSR)markers,derived from yield-related candidate genes,with the efficient mixed-model association coupled mixed linear model for dissecting complete genetic control of grain size traits.A total of 10 significant associations were identified for four grain size-related characters(grain weight,grain length,grain width,and length-width ratio).Among the identified associations,seven marker trait associations explain more than 10%of the phenotypic variation,indicating major putative QTLs for respective *** allelic variations at genes OsBC1L4,SHO1 and OsD2 showed association between 1000-grain weight and grain width,1000-grain weight and grain length,and grain width and length-width ratio,*** cgSSR markers,associated with corresponding traits,can be utilized for direct allelic selection,while other significantly associated cgSSRs may be utilized for allelic accumulation in the breeding programs or grain size *** new cgSSR markers associated with grain size related characters have a significant impact on practical plant breeding to increase the number of causative alleles for these traits through marker aided rice breeding programs.
