Synergistic effect of erosion and hydrogen on properties of passive film on 2205 duplex stainless steel

Stainless steels have shown great potential in the application of offshore oil and gas industry.However,the internal surface of stainless steel pipeline may simultaneously suffer erosion from the fluid media inside the pipeline and the damage of hydrogen that is generated from the external activities such as cathodic protection.The synergistic effect of erosion and hydrogen on the properties of passive film on 2205 duplex stainless steel was studied for the first time in a loop system coupled with a hydrogen-charging cell.The components,protective performance and semiconductive structure as well as properties of the passive film under different conditions were investigated using in-situ electrochemical techniques,surface characterization and computational fluid dynamics simulation.The results show that the combination of erosion and hydrogen could greatly thin the passive film,furthermore,the Fe^(3+)/Fe^(2+)ratio and O_(2)^(-)/OH^(-)ratio in the passive film also decrease dramatically under such a condition.Therefore,the hydration degree of the passive film greatly increases,resulting in an increase in active sites and a decrease in the stability of the passive film.Erosion could destroy the passive film through the impact of sand particles and accelerate the mass transfer process of electrochemical reaction.While hydrogen can not only enhance the charge transfer process,but also make the passive film highly defective.Under the combination of erosion and hydrogen condition,erosion could enhance the hydrogen damage and simultaneously hydrogen could also enhance erosion.Therefore,the synergistic effect of erosion and hydrogen could dramatically change the passive film component,decrease the protective performance,and increase the susceptibility of pitting corrosion of 2205 stainless steel in Cl-containing environment.

Metal–organic gel(MOG)derived composites are promising multi-functional materials due to their alterable composition,identifiable chemical homogeneity,tunable shape,and porous structure.Herein,stable metal–organic hydrogels are prepared by regulating the complexation effect,solution polarity and curing speed.Meanwhile,collagen peptide is used to facilitate the fabrication of a porous aerogel with excellent physical properties as well as the homogeneous dispersion of magnetic particles during calcination.Subsequently,two kinds of heterometallic magnetic coupling systems are obtained through the application of Kirkendall effect.FeCo/nitrogen-doped carbon(NC)aerogel demonstrates an ultra-strong microwave absorption of−85 dB at an ultra-low loading of 5%.After reducing the time taken by atom shifting,a FeCo/Fe3O4/NC aerogel containing virus-shaped particles is obtained,which achieves an ultra-broad absorption of 7.44 GHz at an ultra-thin thickness of 1.59 mm due to the coupling effect offered by dual-soft-magnetic particles.Furthermore,both aerogels show excellent thermal insulation property,and their outstanding radar stealth performances in J-20 aircraft are confirmed by computer simulation technology.The formation mechanism of MOG is also discussed along with the thermal insulation and electromagnetic wave absorption mechanism of the aerogels,which will enable the development and application of novel and lightweight stealth coatings.

The local deformation behavior and dynamic recrystallization of a shock compressed Mg-1Zn alloy was investigated through EBSD and TEM.Since dislocation slipping and twinning were locally suppressed during high strain-rate deformation,a more flexible kinking deformation was activated to adjusted local orientation and facilitate slipping and twinning within the kinks.Meanwhile,due to the slow heat dissipation that resulted in a local temperature elevating,the kink bands were evolved into deformation bands with recrystallized nano-grains.Such a finding provides a new perspective for kinking-facilitated nanocrystallization in Mg alloys and other anisotropic metallic materials.

Background:West syndrome is a devastating disorder characterized by a triad of epileptic spasms,abnormal electroencephalography(EEG),and developmental arrest or psychomotor delay.In addition to early diagnosis,knowing the etiology of the condition is also important for its treatment.Among various etiologies,the genetic factors,especially mutations of ion channel genes,are very common and strongly linked to West syndrome.Case presentation:A boy who had epileptic spasms from the age of 4 months was diagnosed with West syndrome based on the clinical manifestation and EEG results in Shenzhen Children's Hospital in June 2019.Trios whole-exome sequencing(WES)test and protein structural model prediction were performed.We also reviewed the clinical and genetic features of this syndrome and the mechanisms of action of topiramate(TPM)by literature search in databases of Online Mendelian Inheritance in Man,Clinical Genome Resource,PubMed,Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure and Wanfang database using keywords"KCNA2""West syndrome"and"Topiramate"by December 2020.The relationship between the effect of TPM and the pathogenesis of the KCNA2 variant was also assessed.The WES test revealed c.244C>T/p.Arg82Cys varaint of KCNA2(NM_004974.3)in this patient,and Sanger sequencing identified this was a de novo mutation.As far as we know,this is the first report of the C.244C>T/p.Arg82Cys variant in KCNA2,which was likely a pathogenic mutation.The seizures were successfully controlled for 10 months by TPM after failure of sodium valproate,large doses of vitamin B6,and adrenocorticotropic hormone.We speculate that the therapeutic effect of TPM in this patient is partially due to the inhibition of carbonic anhydrase.Conclusions:Mutations in the KCNA2 gene should be considered for patients with West syndrome.The TPM treatment is probably effective for KCNA2-associated disorders.

Sustained casing pressure （SCP） in gas wells brings a serious threat to worker safety and environmental protection. According to geological conditions, wellbore structure and cement data of gas wells in the Sichuan-Chongqing region, China, the position, time, environmental condition and the value of SCP have been analyzed. On this basis, the shape of the pressure bleed-down plot and pressure buildup plot were diagnosed and the mechanism of SCP has been clarified. Based on generalized annular Darcy percolation theory and gas-liquid two-phase fluid dynamics theory, a coupled mathematical model of gas migration in a cemented annulus with a mud column above the cement has been developed. The volume of gas migrated in the annulus and the value of SCP changing with time in a gas well in Sichuan have been calculated by this model. Calculation results coincided well with the actual field data, which provide some reference for the following security evaluation and solution measures of SCP.

Variation and degradation of P-110 casing steel mechanical properties, due to sulfide stress cracking （SSC） in sour environments, was investigated using tensile and impact tests. These tests were carried out on specimens, which were pretreated under the following conditions for 168 hours： temperature, 60 ℃; pressure, 10 MPa; H2S partial pressure, 1 MPa and CO2 partial pressure, 1 MPa; preload stress, 80% of the yield strength （os）; medium, simulated formation water. The reduction in tensile and impact strengths for P-110 casing specimens in corrosive environments were 28% and 54%, respectively. The surface morphology analysis indicated that surface damage and uniform plastic deformation occurred as a result of strain aging. Impact toughness of the casing decreased significantly and intergranular cracking occurred when specimens were maintained at a high stress level of 85% %.

A case report of microcephaly and refractory West syndrome associated with WDR62 mutation

The autosomal recessive form of primary microcephaly(MCPH)is a rare disorder characterized by microcephaly with variable degree of intellectual disability.WDR62 has been reported as the second causative gene of MCPH2.West syndrome is a severe epilepsy syndrome composed of the triad of spasms,hypsarrhythmia,and mental retardation.There are limited clinical reports regarding WDR62 mutation and West syndrome.Here we report a boy who was identified with WDR62 mutation and was followed up from age 3 months to 5 months and 14 days.He had the first seizure as the classic epileptic spasm at the age of 3 months.Psychomotor retardation was noted before the seizure occurred.The head circumference was 38.5 cm(SD 2.6)when he was 4 months old,no dysmorphic facial features were observed.He couldn’t support his head steadily or turn over.He was able to laugh when tricked by the parents,but couldn’t track the sound and light.At the early stage,the electroencephalogram showed multifocal discharges,which evolved into hypsarrhythmia one month later,and brain MRI showed developmental malformation of cerebral gyrus.Two heterozygous mutations were identified in WDR62 by whole exome sequencing c.1535G>A,p.R512Q and c.2618dupT,p.K874Qfs40.The patient was administrated with oral sodium valproate,nitrazepam,intramuscular adrenocorticotropic hormone for 2 weeks,and followed by prednisone,levetiracetam,topiramate and vigabatrin.However,there was no significant improvement on the seizure control after these treatments.According to the genetic report and clinical manifestation,we speculated that the WDR62 compound heterozygous mutation is responsible for the serious clinical phenotype.

Numerical simulation for erosion effects of three-phase flow containing sulfur particles on elbows in high sour gas fields

Sulfur particles carried by high-speed flow impact pipelines,which may cause equipment malfunctions and even failure.This paper investigates the scouring effect of mist gas containing sulfur particles on elbows in highly sour gas fields.The multiphase-flow hydrodynamic model of the 90elbow was established by using the computational fluid dynamics(CFD)method.The scouring effects of the gasliquid mist fluid with the water-liquid fraction of 20%and particles with the diameter of 0.01 e0.05mm on elbows were explored within the flow velocity range of 0e20 m/s.In addition,the influences of secondary collision,mean curvature radius to diameter(R/D)ratio,inertial force,drag force,and Stokes number on trajectories of sulfur particles were studied.Moreover,the influences of hydrodynamic parameters of multiphase flow on corrosion inhibitor film were analyzed with the wall shear stress as the reference value.Serious erosion mainly occurred in the extrados of elbow as well as the junction between downstream pipeline and the intrados of elbow,the maximum erosion area occurs at 61.9.When the incident position of the particle was far away from the top of the inlet plane,the probability of secondary collision became smaller.Furthermore,the erosion rate decreased with the rise in the R/D radio.The maximum erosion rate of elbow increased with the increase in the Stoke number.The maximum erosion rate reached 0.428 mm/a at 0.05mm particle diameter and 20 m/s fluid velocity.The wall shear stress increased with the increase in fluid velocity and mass flow rate of particle,the fitting function of the wall shear stress curve was the Fourier type.The results indicated that highvelocity particles had a serious erosion effect on elbows and affected the stability of the corrosion inhibitor film.The erosion effect could be retarded by controlling the velocity and diameter of particles.The results provided technical supports for the safe production in highly sour gas fields.
