Touch deoxyribonucleic acid(DNA)refers to the DNA that is left behind from skin cells when a person touches or comes into contact with an *** crimes where the identification of suspects becomes a challenge,touch DNA has been a proven investigative *** present study aims to provide a systematic review of the role of touch DNAin criminal cases which discusses the nature and importance of touch DNA evidence at crime scenes;various phenomena including the transfer and persistence of touched samples;different factors affecting the touch sample deposition and DNA shedding;the best recovery methods and collection of samples from different substrates;and the interpretation of profiles through advanced techniques that identify the *** present study also aims to optimize standard protocols in the laboratories for touched samples appropriate to the substrates that improve the success rate of profiles from touched items.

Multicellular layers(MCLs) have previously been used to determine the pharmacokinetics of a variety of different cancer drugs including paclitaxel, doxorubicin, methotrexate, and 5-fluorouracil across a number of cell lines. It is not known how nanoparticles(Nps) navigate through the tumor microenvironment once they leave the tumor blood *** this study, we used the MCL model to study the uptake and penetration dynamics of Nps. Gold nanoparticles(GNps)were used as a model system to map the Np distribution within tissue-like structures. Our results show that Np uptake and transport are dependent on the tumor cell type. MDA-MB-231 tissue showed deeper penetration of GNps as compared to MCF-7 one. Intracellular and extracellular distributions of Nps were mapped using Cyto Viva imaging. The ability of MCLs to mimic tumor tissue characteristics makes them a useful tool in assessing the efficacy of particle distribution in solid tumors.

Background Ni-kshay poshan Yojana(NpY)is a direct benefit transfer scheme of the Government of India introduced in 2018 to support the additional nutritional requirements of persons with TB(pwTB).Our recent nationwide evaluation of implementation and utilization of NpY using programmatic data of pwTB from nine randomly selected Indian states,reported a 70%coverage and high median delay in benefit *** undertook a qualitative study between January and July 2023,to understand the detailed implementation process of NpY and explore the enablers and barriers to effective implementation and utilization of the NpY *** We followed a grounded theory approach to inductively develop theoretical explanations for social phenomena through data generated from multiple *** conducted 36 in-depth interviews of national,district and field-level staff of the National Tuberculosis Elimination programme(NTEp)and NpY beneficiaries from 30 districts across nine states of India,selected using theoretical *** analytical framework developed through inductive coding of a set of six interviews,guided the coding of the subsequent *** and themes emerged through constant comparison and the data collection continued until theoretical *** Stakeholders perceived NpY as a beneficial *** political commitment from the state administration,mainstreaming of NTEp work with the district public healthcare delivery system,availability of good geographic and internet connectivity and state-specific grievance redressal mechanisms and innovations were identified as enablers of ***,the complex,multi-level benefit approval process,difficulties in accessing banking services,perceived inadequacy of benefits and overworked human resources in the NTEp were identified as barriers to implementation and *** The optimal utilization of NpY is enabled by strong political commitment and challenged by its length

Objective:To identify worms obtained from patients with eye lesions and to describe the demographic factors of patients with ocular ***:A retrospective descriptive study was conducted in 31 worm samples from 30 patients referred by consultant ophthalmologists between 2006 and February *** on age,sex and site of the lesion were ascertained from the details given in the referral *** identification of the worm was based on the maximum width,length and appearance of the *** sex of the worm was determined by the width,length and presence or absence of vulva *** was performed using Dirofilaria repens specific primers to confirm the species of worms which could not be identified ***:Most of the patients belonged to the age group of 40-49 years(mean age = 42 years).Majority of them were females(70%).Subconjunctival lesions were the most frequent presentation,while the rest(n = 4) were found on *** worms were extracted from 18 cases,and 11 had male *** individual had both male and female worms in a single *** were the most commonly *** pattern was different from the previous studies in Sri Lanka where the most common age group affected was younger than 9 years ***:The present study showed a considerably high incidence of ocular dirofilariasis,stressing the importance of implementing preventive measures to reduce the transmission of this zoonotic filarial disease.

Size-Dependent Gold Nanoparticle Interaction at Nano–Micro Interface Using Both Monolayer and Multilayer(Tissue-Like) Cell Models

Gold nanoparticles(GNps) are emerging as a novel tool to improve existing cancer therapeutics. GNps are being used as radiation dose enhancers in radiation therapy as well as anticancer drugs carriers in chemotherapy. However,the success of GNp-based therapeutics depends on their ability to penetrate tumor tissue. GNps of 20 and 50 nm diameters were used to elucidate the effects of size on the GNp interaction with tumor cells at monolayer and multilayer level. At monolayer cell level, smaller Nps had a lower uptake compared to larger Nps at monolayer cell level. However, the order was reversed at tissue-like multilayer level. The smaller Nps penetrated better compared to larger Nps in tissue-like *** on our study using tissue-like materials, we can predict that the smaller Nps are better for future therapeutics due to their greater penetration in tumor tissue once leaving the leaky blood vessels. In this study, tissue-like multilayer cellular structures(MLCs) were grown to model the post-vascular tumor environment. The MLCs exhibited a much more extensive extracellular matrix than monolayer cell cultures. The MLC model can be used to optimize the nano–micro interface at tissue level before moving into animal models. This would accelerate the use of Nps in future cancer therapeutics.

protein kinases play an important role in the incidence of neurodegenerative *** their incidence in non-human primates is found to be very *** differences among the genomes might influence the disease *** present study deals with finding the genetic differences of protein kinases in humans and their three closest evolutionary partners chimpanzee,gorilla and orangutan for three neurodegenerative diseases namely,Alzheimer’s,parkinson’s and Huntington’s *** total 47 human protein kinases associated with three neurodegenerative diseases and their orthologs from other three nonhuman primates were identified and analyzed for any possible susceptibility factors in *** sequence alignment and pairwise sequence alignment revealed that,18 human protein kinases including DYRK1A,RpS6KB1,and GRK6 contained significant indels and *** phosphorylation site analysis revealed that eight kinases including MARK2 and LTK contained sites of phosphorylation exclusive to human genomes which could be particular candidates in determining disease susceptibility between human and non-human *** pathway analysis of these eight kinases and their targets revealed that these kinases could have long range consequences in important signaling pathways which are associated with neurodegenerative diseases.

The novel coronavirus 2019(COVID-19)was reported by the World Health Organization in December 2019,and since then it has progressed into a worldwide pandemic,causing significant morbidity and *** symptoms of COVID-19 and elevated liver chemistries are seen in up to 50%of infected *** reports have suggested a high mortality rate for COVID-19 in patients with pre-existing liver disease,having an associated mortality of 39.8%.Alcoholic liver disease is a significant cause of morbidity and mortality in New Mexico(USA),and we report here the clinical course and characteristics of three cases of patients with alcoholic cir-rhosis who were admitted to our hospital with COVID-19.
