The im.acts of hurricane disturbance and clim.te variability on carbon dynam.cs in a coastal forested wetland in South Carolina of USA were sim.lated using the Forest-DNDC m.del with a spatially explicit approach. The m.del was validated using the m.asured biom.ss before and after Hurricane Hugo and the biom.ss inventories in 2006 and 2007, showed that the Forest- DNDC m.del was applicable for estim.ting carbon dynam.cs with hurricane disturbance. The sim.lated results indicated that Hurricane Hugo in 1989 substantially influenced carbon storage im.ediately after the disturbance event. The sim.lated net ecosystem.exchange (NEE) for the 58-year period (1950-2007) indicated that the hurricane reduced CO2 sequestration due prim.rily to the increased decom.osition of a large am.unt of litter and woody debris, including fallen trees (over 80% of pre-hurricane trees), debris and branches, and dead roots. The inter-annual fluctuation of soil CO2 flux showed that the clim.te variability interfered substantially soil carbon dynam.cs in the forest. The results showed that there were substantial spatial and tem.oral differences in CO2 flux (3.2 - 4.8 m.·C·ha–1) and wood biom.ss due to the differences in physical and biogeochem.cal characteristics in the forest.

The SWAT m.del was used to predict total phosphorus (TP) loadings for a 1555-ha karst watershed—Chapel Branch Creek (CBC)—which drains to a lake via a reservoir-like em.aym.nt (R-E). The m.del was first tested for m.nthly stream.low predictions from.tributaries draining three potential source areas as well as the downstream.R-E, followed by TP loadings using data collected m.rch 2007-October 2009. Source areas included 1) a golf course that received applied wastewater, 2) urban areas, highway, and som. agricultural lands, and 3) a cave spring draining a second golf course along with agricultural and forested areas, including a substantial contribution of subsurface water via karst connectivity. SWAT predictions of m.an m.nthly TP loadings at the first two source outlets were deem.d reasonable. However, the predictions at the cave spring outlet were som.what poorer, likely due to diffuse variable groundwater flow from.an unknown drainage area larger than the actual surface watershed, for which m.nthly subsurface flow was represented as a point source during sim.lations. Further testing of the SWAT m.del to predict m.nthly TP loadings at the R-E, m.deled as a com.letely m.xed system. resulted in their over-predictions m.st of the m.nths, except when high lake water levels occurred. The m.an m.nthly and annual flows were calibrated to acceptable lim.ts with the exception of flow over-prediction when lake levels were low and surface water from.tributaries disappeared into karst connections. The discrepancy in TP load predictions was attributed prim.rily to the use of lim.ted m.nthly TP data collected during baseflow in the em.aym.nt. However, for the 22-m.nth period, over-prediction of m.an m.nthly TP load (34.6 kg/m.) by 13% com.ared to m.asured load (30.6 kg/m.) in the em.aym.nt was deem.d acceptable. Sim.lated results showed a 42% reduction in TP load due to settling in the em.aym.nt.

Paired watershed studies are used around the world to evaluate and quantify effects of forest and water m.nagem.nt practices on hydrology and water quality. The basic concept uses two neighboring watersheds (one as a control and another as a treatm.nt), which are concurrently m.nitored during calibration (pre-treatm.nt) and post-treatm.nt periods. A statistically significant relationship between the control and treatm.nt watersheds is established during calibration period such that any significant shift detected in the relationship during treatm.nt is attributed to the treatm.nt effects. The approach assum.s that there is a consistent, quantifiable, and predictable relationship between watershed response variables. This study tests the hypothesis that the hydrologic relationships between control and treatm.nt watersheds for daily water table elevation (WTE) and daily flow data were sim.lar without any statistically significant difference during two different calibration (1988-1989 and 2007-2008) and treatm.nt periods (1995-1996 and 2009), when the control and treatm.nt watersheds were interchanged. The watersheds are two artificially drained loblolly pine forests (D1: 24.7 haand D2: 23.6 ha) located in coastal North Carolina. Results depicted significantly sim.lar WTE regression relationships during the two calibration periods but significantly different WTE relationships during the two treatm.nt periods with reversed control and treatm.nt watersheds. Calibration and treatm.nt flow relationships, and the m.an treatm.nt effects on WTE and flow, before and after treatm.nt reversal were significantly different (α = 0.05). The study also discusses causes of differences in hydrologic relationships and treatm.nt effects for such reversal of treatm.nts during a 21-year span of the study on these two sim.lar and adjacent watersheds. Variation of nonlinear optical properties with surface roughness of ZnO thin film. deposited on com.ng glass substrates at different annealing tem.erature （TA） was reported. The film. were characterized by X-ray diffraction （XRD）, UV-Vis-NIR transm.ssion and single beam.z-scan technique using second harm.nics of Nd：YAG laser. Surface m.rphology of the sam.les was investigated by atom.c force m.croscopy （AFm.. Surface roughness was found m.nim.m.（8.4 nm. for ZnO sam.le annealed at 450℃. The nonlinear optical properties （NLO） were found to be dependent on surface roughness and the highest value of third order nonlinear susceptibility （X（3）=4.3x 10-7 esu） was obtained for ZnO at TA 450℃.

This paper presents analytical frequency dom.in m.thod for harm.nic m.deling and evaluation of Space Vector Pulse Width m.dulation (SVPWm. based static synchronous series converter (SSSC). SVPWm.is the best am.ng all the PWm.techniques. It gives a degree of freedom.of space vector placem.nt in a switching cycle. Dynam.c m.deling technique is used for space vector m.dulation (SVm. based voltage source converter that is adapted as a static synchronous series converter (SSSC) for harm.nic analysis using dynam.c harm.nic dom.in. Perform.nce of the SSSC is evaluated in dynam.c harm.nic dom.in sim.lation studies in m.TLAB environm.nt. The switching function spectra are necessary for harm.nic transfer m.trix which is calculated using Fourier series. This paper presents the analysis of harm.nics for space vector based SSSC during steady state and dynam.c condition.

AIm. Intestinal ischem.a (Ii) is an abdom.nal em.rgency due to blockade of the superior m.senteric artery resulting in 60-100% m.rtality if diagnosed late. Changes in several biochem.cal param.ters such as D (-)-lactate, Creatinine kinase isoenzym.s and lactate dehydrogenase suggested for early diagnosis, lack specificity and sensitivity. Therefore a biochem.cal param.ter with greater sensitivity needs to be identified. m.THODS: Wistar m.le rats were random.y assigned into two groups; control sham.operated (n = 24) and ischem.c test (n = 24) group. Superior m.senteric arterial occlusion was perform.d in the ischem.c test group for 1 h. Alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH) was estim.ted in blood from.portal vein, right ventricle of heart, dorsal aorta (DA) and inferior vena cava (IVC). The Serum.glutam.c acid pyruvate transam.nase (SGPT) was also estim.ted in blood from.portal vein and right ventricle of heart. RESULTS: A significant increase (Pm.ared to the control group (46.39±21.69 EU and 65.389±30.55 EU, respectively) were observed. Sim.larly, increased levels of ADH were observed in blood sam.les withdrawn from.DA and IVC in test anim.ls (319.52±80.14 EU and 363.90±120.68 EU, respectively) as com.ared to the control group (67.68±63.22 EU and 72.50±58.45 EU, respectively). However, in test anim.ls there was significant increase in SGPT in portal blood (P= 0.054) without m.ch increase in heart blood. CONCLUSION: Significant increase in the levels of ADH in portal and heart blood within 1 h of Sm. occlusion without increase in SGPT in heart blood, suggests that the origin of ADH is from.ischem.c intestine and not from.liver. Sim.larly, raised ADH levels were found in DA and IVC as well. IVC blood does represent peripheral blood sam.le. A raised level of ADH in test anim.ls confirm. it to be a potential m.rker in the early diagno

A large num.er of reported road collisions are caused by driver inattention,and inappropriate driving *** study investigated the effectiveness and acceptance of Advanced Driving Assistance System.(ADAS)for driver age groups,gender,occupation(professional/non-professional),and road type(expressway,urban roads,and sem.-urban road)based on the Field Operational Test(FOT).The ADAS is provided with assistance features,such as Lane Departure Warning(LDW),Forward Collision Warning(FCW),and Traffic Speed Recognition Warning(TSRW).In total,the FOT involved 30 participants who drove the test vehicle twice(once in the stealth phase and once in the active phase).The FOT included three sections:expressway(20.60 km.,urban road(7.2 km.,and sem.-urban road(13.35 km..A questionnaire was used to determ.ne user acceptance of the ADAS *** addition,param.tric and non-param.tric statistical tests were carried out to determ.ne ADAS's significant *** FOT results showed statistically significant differences in the LDW’s acceptance and effectiveness for gender,age group,occupation,and road type before and after exposure to *** participants showed significant lateral behavior im.rovem.nt com.ared to fem.le ***-aged drivers scored the highest acceptance score for the technology com.ared to m.ddle and young-aged *** subjective ratings ranked the assistance features in descending order as TSRW,LDW,and *** study’s findings can support policy developm.nt and induce trust in the public for the technology adoption to im.rove road traffic safety.

In this paper, we have considered the generalized bi-axially sym.etric Schr?dinger equation ?;φ/?x;+?;φ/?y;+（2ν/x）?φ/?x+（2μ/y）?φ/?y+ {K;- V（r）}φ = 0,where μ, ν≥ 0, and r V（r） is an entire function of r = +（x;+ y;）;corresponding to a scattering potential V（r）. Growth param.ters of entire function solutions in term. of their expansion coefficients, which are analogous to the form.las for order and type occurring in classical function theory, have been obtained. Our results are applicable for the scattering of particles in quantum.m.chanics.

We present results of a high resolution study of the filam.ntary infrared dark cloud G192.76＋00.10 in the S254-S258 OB com.lex in several m.lecular species tracing different physical conditions. These include three isotopologues of carbon m.noxide （CO）, am.onia （NH3） and carbon m.nosulfide （CS）. The aim.of this work is to study the general structure and kinem.tics of the filam.n- tary cloud, and its fragm.ntation and physical param.ters. The gas tem.erature is derived from.the NH3 （J, K） = （1, 1）, （2, 2） and 12CO（2-1） lines, and the 13CO（1-0）, 13CO（2-1） em.ssion is used to inves- tigate the overall gas distribution and kinem.tics. Several dense clum.s are identified from.the CS（2-1） data. Values of the gas tem.erature lie in the range 10 - 35 K, and colum. density N（H2） reaches the value 5.1 ×1022 cm.2. The width of the filam.nt is of order 1 pc. The m.sses of the dense clum.s range from.×30 m. to - 160 m.. They appear to be gravitationally unstable. The m.lecular em.ssion shows a gas dynam.cal coherence along the filam.nt, The velocity pattern m.y indicate longitudinal collapse.
