The precision modeling of dam break floods can lead to formulation of proper emergency action plan to minimize flood impacts within the economic lifetime of the assets.Application of GIS techniques in integration with hydrological modeling for mapping of the flood inundated areas can play a momentous role in further minimizing the risk and likely damages.In the present study,dam break analysis using DAMBRk model was performed under various likely scenarios.Probable Maximum Flood (PMF)calculated for a return period of 1000 years using deterministic approach was adopted for dam break analysis of the proposed dam under various combinations of breach dimensions.The available downstream river cross-sections data sets were used as input in the model to generate the downstream flood profile.Dam break flow depths generated by the DAMBRk model under various combinations of structural failure are subsequently plotted on Digital Elevation Model(DEM)of the downstream of dam site to map the likely affected area.The simulation results reveals that in one particular case the flood without dam may be more intense if a rainfall of significant intensity takes place.

Type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)increases the risk of many lethal and debilitating conditions.Among them,foot ulceration due to neuropathy,vascular disease,or trauma affects the quality of life of millions in the United States and around the world.Physiological wound healing is stalled in the inflammatory phase by the chronicity of inflammation without proceeding to the resolution phase.Despite advanced treatment,diabetic foot ulcers(DFUs)are associated with a risk of amputation.Thus,there is a need for novel therapies to address chronic inflammation,decreased angiogenesis,and impaired granulation tissue formation contributing to the non-healing of DFUs.Studies have shown promising results with resolvins(Rv)and anti-inflammatory therapies that resolve inflammation and enhance tissue healing.But many of these studies have encountered difficulty in the delivery of Rv in terms of efficiency,tissue targetability,and immunogenicity.This review summarized the perspective of optimizing the therapeutic application of Rv and cytokines by pairing them with exosomes as a novel strategy for targeted tissue delivery to treat non-healing chronic DFUs.The articles discussing the T2DM disease state,current research on Rv for treating inflammation,the role of Rv in enhancing wound healing,and exosomes as a delivery vehicle were critically reviewed to find support for the proposition of using Rv and exosomes in combination for DFUs therapy.The literature reviewed suggests the beneficial role of Rv and exosomes and exosomes loaded with antiinflammatory agents as promising therapeutic agents in ulcer healing.

Many therapies with potential for treatment of brain injury have been investigated. Few types of cells have spurred as much interest and excitement as stem cells over the past few decades. The multipotentiality and self-renewing characteristics of stem cells confer upon them the capability to regenerate lost tissue in ischemic or degenerative conditions as well as trauma. While stem cells have not yet proven to be clinically effective in many such conditions as was once hoped, they have demonstrated some effects that could be manipulated for clinical benefit. The various types of stem cells have similar characteristics, and largely differ in terms of origin; those that have differentiated to some extent may exhibit limited capability in differentiation potential. Stem cells can aid in decreasing lesion size and improving function following brain injury.

The Himalayan terrain is an epitome of ongoing convergence and geodetic deformation where both tectonic and non-tectonic forces prevail.In this study,the Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment(GRACE)and Global Positioning System(GPS)datasets are used to assess the impact of seasonal loading on deformation with seismicity in Nepal.The recorded GPS data from 21 Global Navigation Satellite System(GNSS)stations during 2017-2020 are processed with respect to ITRF14 and the Indian reference frame,and the Center for Space Research(CSR)mascon RL06 during 2002-2020 is adopted to estimate the terrestrial water storage(TWS)change over the Ganga-Brahmaputra River basin.The results indicate that the hydrological loading effect or TWS change shows high negative,high positive,and moderately positive values in pre-monsoon,co-monsoon,and post-monsoon months,respectively.The detrended GPS data of both horizontal and vertical components correlate with the seasonal TWS change using the Pearson correlation coefficient at each GNSS site.In addition,the correlation coefficient has been interpolated using inverse distance weighting to investigate the regional TWS influence on geodetic displacement.In the north component,the correlation coefficient ranges from-0.6 to 0.6.At the same time,the TWS is positively correlated with geodetic displacement(0.82)in the east component,and the correlation coefficient is negative(-0.69)in the vertical component.The negative correlation signifies an inverse relationship between seasonal TWS variation and geodetic displacements.The strain rate is estimated,which shows higher negative values in pre-monsoon than in post-monsoon.Similarly,the effect of seismicity is 47.90%for pre-monsoon,15.97%for co-monsoon,and 17.56%for post-monsoon.Thus we can infer that the seismicity decreases with the increase of seasonal hydrological loading.Furthermore,the effect of strain is much higher in pre-monsoon than in post-monsoon since the impact of co-monsoon continues to persist on a small scale in the post-monsoon sea

A numerical method based on finite difference method with variable mesh is given for self-adjoint singularly perturbed two-point boundary value problems. To obtain parameter- uniform convergence, a variable mesh is constructed, which is dense in the boundary layer region and coarse in the outer region. The uniform convergence analysis of the method is discussed. The original problem is reduced to its normal form and the reduced problem is solved by finite difference method taking variable mesh. To support the efficiency of the method, several numerical examples have been considered.

Purpose The poor prognosis in patients with floating knee injuries is mainly contributed to articular involvement(Fraser’s typeⅡ).This study aims to evaluate and compare the functional outcomes among different Fraser’s typeⅡfloating knee injuries after surgical management.Methods Twenty-seven patients with Fraser’s typeⅡfloating knee injuries(54 fractures)between September 2014 and December 2015 were enrolled prospectively in this study and were distributed according to Fraser’s floating knee classification into three different groups as typeⅡA(ipsilateral femoral shaft and tibial intra-articular involvement,n=11),typeⅡB(ipsilateral tibial shaft and femoral intra-articular involvement,n=9)and typeⅡC(both femoral and tibial intra-articular involvement,n=7).The differences among the groups were evaluated and compared.The functional outcomes of these injuries at one year were analyzed using knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score(kOOS)which covers 5 subscales of pain,other symptoms,activities of daily living,sports and recreation,and quality of life.The result was also compared with standardized age-sex matched healthy population using paired samples t-test.Results All the patients were male,and the injury mechanism was solely roadside accident.The mean age was 29.8 years and injury severity score 17.9(comparable in all the three groups).Most injuries were observed on the right side(20 cases,74.1%).Based on paired samples t-test,the kOOS score of patients with Fraser’s typeⅡA was found to be better than that of typeⅡB and typeⅡC.Compared with the reference age-sex matched control group,patients with Fraser’s typeⅡB andⅡC fractures had significantly lower mean score in all kOOS subscales(all p<0.01).However,Fraser’s typeⅡA only revealed significant difference regarding the subscales of activities of daily living(p<0.0001),sports and recreation(p<0.0001),and quality of life(p<0.0001).Conclusion The results of this study show that patients with Fraser’s typeⅡA fractures had a better functional outcome as compared

The performance of high density chips operating in the GHz range is mostly affected by on-chip interconnects. The interconnect delay depends on many factors, a few of them are inputs toggling patterns, line ＆ coupling parasitics, input rise/fall time and source/load characteristics. The transition time of the input is of prime importance in high speed circuits. This paper addresses the FDTD based analysis of transition time effects on functional and dynamic crosstalk. The analysis is carried out for equal and unequal transition times of coupled inputs. The analysis of the effects of unequal rise time is equally important because practically, it is quite common to have mismatching in the rise time of the signals transmitting through different length wires. To demonstrate the effects, two distributed RLC lines coupled inductively and capacitively are taken into consideration. The FDTD technique is used because it gives accurate results and carries time domain analysis of coupled lines. The number of lumps in SPICE simulations is considered the same as those of spatial segments. To validate the FDTD computed results, SPICE simulations are run and results are compared. A good agreement of the computed results has been observed with respect to SPICE simulated results. An average error of less than 3.2% is observed in the computation of the performance parameters using the proposed method.

Cancer is an abnormal state of cells where they undergo uncontrolled proliferation and produce aggressive malignancies that causes millions of deaths every year.With the new understanding of the molecular mechanism(s)of disease progression,our knowledge about the disease is snowballing,leading to the evolution of many new therapeutic regimes and their successive trials.In the past few decades,various combinations of therapies have been pro-posed and are presently employed in the treatment of diverse cancers.Targeted drug therapy,immunotherapy,and personalized medicines are now largely being employed,which were not common a few years back.The field of cancer discoveries and therapeutics are evolving fast as cancer type-specific biomarkers are progressively being identified and several types of cancers are nowadays undergoing systematic therapies,extending patients’disease-free survival thereafter.Although growing evidence shows that a systematic and targeted approach could be the future of cancer medicine,chemotherapy remains a largely opted therapeutic option despite its known side effects on the patient’s physical and psychological health.Chemother-apeutic agents/pharmaceuticals served a great purpose over the past few decades and have remained the frontline choice for advanced-stage malignancies where surgery and/or radiation therapy cannot be prescribed due to specific reasons.The present report succinctly reviews the existing and contemporary advancements in chemotherapy and assesses the status of the enrolled drugs/pharmaceuticals;it also comprehensively discusses the emerging role of specific/targeted therapeutic strategies that are presently being employed to achieve better clinical success/survival rate in cancer patients.
