A series of 2-methyl-5-nitroaniline derivatives, 5a--Sk and 6a--6f, were synthesized in order to determine their in vitro antimicrobial activity. The chemical structures of the synthesized compounds were confirmed by elemental analyses, UV-visible, FT-IR, 1H NMR and 13C NMR spectral studies. The structure-activity relationships of the synthesized compounds were also discussed. Among the synthesized compounds, 5f, 5d, 6b and 6e showed good antimicrobial activity compared to standard drugs.

Antimicrobial properties of endophytic actinomycetes isolated from Combretum latifolium Blume, a medicinal shrub from Western Ghats of India

Endophytic actinomycetes were isolated from Combretum latifolium Blume （Combretaceae）, Western Ghats of Southern India and identified by its characteristic culture morphology and molecular analysis of 16S rRNA gene sequences. In this survey of endophytic actinomycetes, a total of 117 isolates representing 9 different genera of endophytie actinomycetes were obtained using four different isolation media and several of them seemed to be novel taxa. Streptomyces genera （35%） was the most frequently isolated strains, followed by Nocordiopsis （17%） and Micromonospora （13%）. ISP-4 medium recovered more isolates （47%） when compared to rest of the media used. Preliminary antibacterial activity of the isolates was carried out by confrontation test. Ethyl acetate fraction of selected isolates in disc diffusion assay exhibited broad spectrum antimicrobial activity against test human pathogens. All Streptomyces spp. strains displayed significant antimicrobial activity against test pathogens. Strain CLA-66 and CLA-68 which are Nocordipsis spp. inhibited both bacterial and fungal pathogens where as other isolates inhibited atleast three test human pathogens in disc diffusion assay. Antimicrobial screening of endophytic actinomycetes from this host may represent a unique potential niche for antimierobial compounds of industrial and pharmaceutical applications. This work is the first comprehensive report on incidence of potential endophytic actinomycetes inhabiting C. latifolium Blnme.

Maximum Power Point Tracking(MPPT)is crucial for maximizing the energy output of photovoltaic(PV)systems by continuously adjusting the operating point of the panels to track the point of maximum power production under changing environmental *** work proposes the design of an MPPT system for solar PV installations using the Differential Grey Wolf Optimizer(DGWO).It dynamically adjusts the parameters of the MPPT controller,specifically the duty cycle of the SEPIC converter,to efficiently track the Maximum Power Point(MPP).The proposed system aims to enhance the energy harvesting capability of solar PV systems by optimizing their performance under varying solar irradiance,temperature and shading *** results demonstrate the effectiveness of the DGWO-based MPPT system in maximizing the power output of solar PV installations compared to conventional MPPT *** research contributes to the development of advanced MPPT techniques for improving the efficiency and reliability of solar energy systems.

Magnesium(Mg)alloys despite being the ideal candidate for structural applications,owing to their high specific strength and low density,are not widely used due to lack of active slip systems at room temperature in their hexagonal close-packed crystal structure,eliciting poor ductility and *** the various series of Mg alloys,the AZ and ZK series alloys have been standouts,as they inherit better room temperature strength and flow characteristics through their solute *** refinement,as well as eliminating casting defects through metal processing techniques are vital for the commercial viability of these alloys since they play a key role in controlling the mechanical *** such,this review highlights the effect of different Bulk-deformation and Severe Plastic Deformation techniques on the crystal orientation and the corresponding mechanical behaviours of the AZ31 ***,every process parameter surrounding these techniques must be well thought of,as they require specially designed *** the advent of finite element analysis,these processes could be computationally realized for different parameters and optimized in an economically viable ***,this article also covers the developments made in finite element methods towards these techniques.

Under the effects of electric field and chemical reaction, the problem of dispersion of aerosols in a poorly conducting fluid in a channel is solved analytically using the mixture theory together with a regular perturbation technique. It is shown that the aerosols are dispersed relative to a plane moving with the mean speed of atmospheric fluid as well as the mean speed of agglomeration of aerosol with a relative diffusion coefficient, called the Taylor dispersion coefficient. This coefficient is numerically computed and the results reveal that it increases with an increase in the electric number, but decreases with increasing porous parameter. The physical explanations for the phenomena are given in this article.

The aim of present study is to analyze the influence of volume percentage(vol.%) of nano-sized particles(TiB_2: average size is 35 nm) on microstructure, mechanical and tribological behavior of 6061-T6 Al alloy surface nano composite prepared via Friction stir process(FSP). The microstructure of the fabricated surface nanocomposites is examined using optical microscopy(OM) and scanning electron microscope(SEM) for distribution of TiB_2 nano reinforcement particles, thickness of nano composite layer formed on the Aluminum alloy substrate and fracture features. The depth of surface nano composite layer is measured as 3683.82 m m along the cross section of stir zone of nano composite perpendicular to FSP. It was observed that increase in volume percentage of TiB_2 particles, the microhardness is increased up to132 Hv and it is greater than as-received Al alloy's microhardness(104 Hv). It is also observed that at 4volume percentage higher tensile properties exhibited as compared with the 2 and 8 vol. %. It is found that high wear resistance exhibited at 4 volume percentage as-compared with the 2 and 8 vol. %. The observed wear and mechanical properties are interrelated with microstructure, fractography and worn morphology.

Cyclophosphazene nanotube （PZT） incorporated poly（benzoxazine-co-g-caprolactam）（P（BZ-co-CPL）） nano- composites were developed for improving flame retardant properties. The effects of PZT on the flammability properties of P（BZ-co-CPL） matrix were evaluated through UL-94 flammability test and limiting oxygen index （LOI）. The UL-94 results of P（BZ-co-CPL）/PZT hybrid nanocomposites showed V-1 rating, whereas neat P（BZ-co-CPL） showed burning rating. The LOI values are increased from 25.4 to 31.4 for 1.5 wt% PZT incorporated P（BZ-co-CPL） nanocomposite systems. SEM was used to study the char morphology of P（BZ-co-CPL）/PZT after being exposed to UL-94 flammability test. Data from thermal studies indicate that the PZT incorporated P（BZ-co-CPL） systems possess better Tg and thermal degradation behavior when compared to the neat P（BZ-co-CPL）. The values of dielectric constant are decreased with increasing temperature. From the values, it is ascertained that the P（BZ-co-CPL）/PZT systems exhibit stable dielectric behavior with regard to variation in temperature. The TEM images ascertain the uniform dispersion of PZT in the P（BZ-co-CPL） matrix.

Trunk function has been identified as an important early predictor of functional outcome after stroke and the same deteriorates on both contralateral and ipsilateral sides of the body following stroke. The primary contribution of the trunk muscles is to allow the body to remain upright, adjust weight shifts, and control movements against constant pull of gravity and is considered central key point of the body. Proximal stability of the trunk is a pre-requisite for distal limb mobility, balance, gait and functional activities and its positive correlation in hemiplegia has been demonstrated in a cross- sectional study. Both isokinetic and handheld dynamometer muscle strength testing demonstrated the weakness of bilateral trunk flexors, extensors and rotator muscles in both acute and chronic hemiplegic patients. This was confirmed by electromyography analysis which identified poor bilateral trunk muscles activity in patients with stroke. Trunk impairment scale is sensitive to evaluate the selective muscle control of upper and lower trunk, and it has been reported that lateral flexion of the trunk is easier than rotation of the trunk and the clinical observation concurs to the difficulty in lower trunk rotation of stroke patients. However, trunk exercises given early after stroke could produce enhanced balance performance post- stroke. This review attempts to report the evidence supporting the involvement of the trunk and its influence on balance and functional performance in post-stroke hemiplegia.
