Linear mixed models are popularly used to fit continuous longitudinal data, and the random effects are commonly assumed to have normal distribution. However, this assumption needs to be tested so that further analysis can be proceeded well. In this paper, we consider the Baringhaus-Henze-Epps-Pulley （BHEP） tests, which are based on an empirical characteristic function. Differing from their case, we consider the normality checking for the random effects which are unobservable and the test should be based on their predictors. The test is consistent against global alternatives, and is sensitive to the local alternatives converging to the null at a certain rate arbitrarily close to 1/V~ where n is sample size. ^-hlrthermore, to overcome the problem that the limiting null distribution of the test is not tractable, we suggest a new method： use a conditional Monte Carlo test （CMCT） to approximate the null distribution, and then to simulate p-values. The test is compared with existing methods, the power is examined, and several examples are applied to illustrate the usefulness of our test in the analysis of longitudinal data.

The Red Earth deposit around Xining, northeastern Tibetan Plateau, has beenstudied in terms of soil micro-structure, grain-size distribution, major- and trace-elementchemistry and magne-tostratigraphy. Field investigations indicate that the Red Earth sequenceconsists of 25 visually definable yellow-brown and weakly-developed soils interbedded with reddishstrongly-developed soils, and has a similar structure to the aeolian Red Clay deposit on the ChineseLoess Plateau. Grain-size analysis shows that the Red Earth deposit is very fine-grained with anegligible sand fraction ( > 63.μm). Thin-section observations under light microscopy show that thedeposit has a clayey texture and the coarse fraction ( > 10 μm) mainly consists of quartz,feldspar and micas. Pyroxene and hornblende were also observed. This mineralogical composition ofthe coarse fraction is similar to that of the Quaternary loess. In addition, all of the mineralgrains are semi angular semi-angular and are generally finer than 63.μm. There is a good agreementbetween the major and minor trace element chemistry of loess-soil units and the Red Earth *** REE distributions of the loess-soil and the Red Earth deposit are similar in shape, withenriched LREE and fairly flat HREE profiles and a clear negative Eu anomaly. The geochemicalcharacteristics of the Red Earth deposit are also identical to those of upper continental crust,thus indicating a wind-blown origin. Magnetostratigraphic investigation shows that onset of the RedEarth deposition predates 11.4 Ma BP (13.6 Ma at a nearby site). The distribution of the reportedMiocene aeolian loess at Qin''an of the Loess Plateau is still unknown. Our results indicate thatthis aeolian deposit had extended to the northeastern Tibetan Plateau by at least the middleMiocene. The similarity of the element geochemistry between the Red Earth deposit and the overlyingloess shows that they may have similar sources and dynamic transport system, and may indicate thatthe

In this paper we propose an optimized seam-carving approach for anti-shearing image *** image/video seam-carving strategy only focuses on deleting the pixels along 8-connected seams,which may lead to the obvious information loss during *** the traditional seam-carving methods,our approach can construct a seamlet to handle the discontinuous pixels and further achieve an optimized image resizing results with *** particular,to suppress zigzag artifacts,we introduce the anti-shearing energy into the seamlet generation,which includes two steps:1) the energy map is formalized by using Gabor filtering and the saliency map;2) The energy computation is optimized in Gabor feature space to obtain the resizing results without the connectivity *** experimental results and comparisons show the effectiveness of our method.

A class of quasilinear elliptic variational inequalities with double degenerate is discussed in this paper. We extend the Keldys-Fichera boundary value problem and the first boundary problem of degenerate elliptic equation to the variationalinequalities. We establish the existence and uniqueness of the weak solution of ocrresspending problem under nonstandard growth conditions.

In this paper, the water equilibrium and ground truth are analyzed for '91.7' rainstormin Sihu drainage area, Hubei Province, china. The flood and waterlogging situation of ' 91.7'rainstorm in this area are investigated using remote sensing, especially the estimation of inundatedarea, the analysis of temporal and spatial characters of this flood and waterlogging damage. Andthe way of flood-trace using remote sensing is explored. At last, the disastroiis conditions are evalu-ated.

This paper formulates and analyzes a line search method for general nonlinear equalityconstrained optimization based on filter methods for step acceptance and secant methods for *** feature of the new algorithm is that the secant algorithm is used to produce a searchdirection,a backtracking line search procedure is used to generate step size,some filtered rules areused to determine step acceptance,second order correction technique is used to reduce infeasibility andovercome the Maratos *** convergence properties of this method are analyzed:under mildassumptions it is showed that every limit point of the sequence of iterates generated by the algorithmis feasible,and that there exists at least one limit point that is a stationary point for the ***,it is also established that the Maratos effect can be overcome in our new approach by addingsecond order correction steps so that fast local superlinear convergence to a second order sufficient localsolution is ***,the results of numerical experiments are reported to show the effectivenessof the line search filter secant method.
