Aims To investigate the gallbladder motility in patients with liver cirrhosis and the relationship between gallbladder motility function and gallstone, then provide basis in choosing suitable method in the diagnosis of gallbladder motility disorder, prevention and cure liver cirrhosis combination gallstones. Subjects and Methods The study included two groups: 14 normal subjects, 62 patients with cirrhosis, 15 cirrhosis patients with gallstones, 47 cirrhosis patients without gallstone. Patients were divided into cirrhosis with gallstones and without gallstone through B ultrasound. Every normal subject received inquisition, physical examination, and B ultrasound in the condition of fasting. All normal subjects didn’t have the history of liver disease, pancreas and biliary tract system diseases, without peptic ulcer, abdomen operation and diabetes mellitus history et al. There were no significances in age and sex between cirrhosis patients and normal subjects. All subjects received 99mTc-EHIDA hepatobiliary scintigraphy in nuclear medicine department of beijing friendship hospital between June 2004 and February 2005. After an 8-12-hour fast, each subject was given 185MBq(5mCi) of 99mTc-EHIDA intravenously. 60mins after injection, every subject lies supine under a large-field γ-camera fitted with a low-energy parallel collimator. Serial hepatobiliary analog images were taken for 65mins at 1-min intervals. These patients ate a standard 200ml liquid fatty meal within l-2mins in 3mins after acquisition. Two regions on interest (ROIs) were chosen: ROI1, over the entire gallbladder;ROI2, over the entire liver. Time-activity curves were generated for both ROIs and the counts were corrected for physical decay: latent period (LP), ejection period (EP), gallbladder ejection fraction (GBEF), and ejection rate (ER). Structure of a pair of anticyclonic vortices in northern part of the South china Sea in autumn of 1994

A pair of remarkable meso-scale anticyclonic vortices, one formed closely to another, inthe northern part of the South china Sea during the period from the later August to early September of 1994 were documented by the in situ observation data. Their spatial structures were examined in detail from the horizontal and two nearly perpendicular/vertical angles of view. It was shown that the horizontal scales of these two vortices were around 100, 50 km, and their vertical scales were about 500, 1000 m, respectively. Two 'warm core' structures associated with these two vortices were found in their horizontal and vertical analyses. The closer spacing of these two vortices (namely, 60 km), which was smaller than the Rossby radius of deformation, suggested that they might merge with each other during their next evolution stages and form into a larger vortex eventually.

Prediction of surface and interfacial tension based on thermodynamic data and CALPHAD approach

In this article, following a brief introduction concerning experimental measurements of surface and interfacial tensions, methods for calculating surface tension and surface segregation for binary, ternary, and multicomponent high-temperature melts based on Bulter＇s original treatment [ 1] and on available physical properties and thermodynamic data, especially excess Gibbs free energies of bulk phase and surface phase versus temperature obtained from thermodynamic databases using the calculation of phase diagram （CALPHAD） approach, with special attention to the model parameter β, have been described. In addition, the geometric models can be extended to predict surface tensions of multicom- ponent systems from those of sub-binary systems. For illustration, some calculated examples, including Pb-free soldering systems and phase-diagram evaluation of binary alloys in nanoparticle systems are given. On the basis of surface tensions of high-temperature melts, interracial tensions between liquid alloy and molten slag as well as molten slag and molten matter can be calculated using the Girifalco-Good equation [2]. Modifications are suggested in the Nishizawa＇s model [3] for estimation of interracial tension in liquid metal （A）/ceramics （MX） systems so that the calculations can be carried out based on the sublattice model and thermodynamic data, without deliberately differentiating the phase of MX at high temperature. Finally, the derivation of an approximate expression for predicting interfacial tension between the high-temperature multicomponent melts, employing Becker＇s model [4] in conjunction with Bulter＇s equation and inteffacial tension data of the simple systems is described, and some examples concerning pyrometallurgical systems are given for better understanding.

A unified dynamic model for locomotion and manipulation of a snake-like robot based on differential geometry

A snake-like robot, whose body is a seried-wound articulated mechanism, can move in various environments. In addition, when one end is fixed on a base, the robot can manipulate objects. A method of dynamic modeling for locomotion and manipulation of the snake-like robot is developed in order to unify the dynamic equations of two states. The transformation from locomotion to manipulation is a mechanism reconfiguration, that is, the robot in locomotion has not a fixed base, but it in manipulation has one. First, a virtual structure method unifies the two states in mechanism (e.g., an embedding in the configuration space); second, the product-of-exponentials formula describes the kinematics; third, the dynamics of locomotion and manipulation are established in a Riemannian manifold; finally, based on the analysis of the dynamic model, the dynamics of manipulation can be directly degenerated from those of locomotion, and this degeneration relation is proved through using the Gauss equations. In the differential geometry formulation, this method realizes the unification of the dynamics of locomotion and manipulation. According to a geometrical point of view, the unified dynamic model for locomotion and manipulation is considered as a submanifold problem endowed with geometric meaning. In addition, the unified model offers an insight into the dynamics of the snake-like robot beyond the dynamic model separately established for locomotion or manipulation.

A new method based on a modified line-spring model is developed for evaluating the natural frequencies of vibration of a cracked *** model in conjunction with the Euler-Bernoulli beam theory,modal analysis and linear elastic fracture mechanics is applied to obtain an approximate characteristic equation of a cracked hinged-hinged *** solving this equation the natural frequencies are determined for different crack lengths in different *** results show good agreement with the solutions through finite element *** present method may be extended to analyze other cracked complicated structures with various boundary conditions.

Double Convective Hydrothermal System beneath Massive Sulfide Orebody in Gacun Deposit,Southwestern china

The Gacun Kuroko-type deposit, Southwestern china, is hosted in rhyolitic rocks associated with the underlying mafic rocks occurred in the - 1000 m deep fault - bounded basin within the intra -arc rifting zone which formed on the Triassic Yidun island - arc. Two vertically separated alteration systems are recognized: one is conformable or semiconformable alteration zone developed in - 150 m thick mafic unit 1-1.5 km below the massive sulfide ore body; the other is discordant alteration pipe directly surrounded around stockwork ore within rhyolitic unit. The lower conformable alteration zone extending for several kilometers along strike is characterized by silicification and epidotization which result in the development of quartz vein and quartz-epidote vein systems in mafic lava flows and replacement of primary minerals and groundmass in spilitized mafic volcanics and dikes by quartz, epidote - group minerals and sodic plagioclase. Sulfides often occur in the vein system and altered mafic volcanics. Quartz solubility relation indicates that silicification is a consequence of interaction of Si- saturated fluids with mafic rocks in a higher temperature system (T>340℃), intensifying by intrusion of mafic dike or high-level acidic magma chamber. The alteration pipe of diameter about 2 km shows a similar mineralogical zoning to Kuroko deposits of japan. The sequence is quartz + hyalophane; sericite + chlorite + quartz and zeolite-like zones from core to margins of the pipe. The chlorite core only occurs in the root part of the alteration pipe and downwards transfers into epidote - chlorite and epidote - quartz vein swarm extending 500 m downwards. The felsic rocks away from the orebody and alteration pipe took place district-scale alteration, which has typical low-temperature mineral association: illite + albite + quartz + calcite. A NOTE ON THE NARROW OPEN CHANNEL RESONANCE

A narrow open channel resonant phenomenon, newly found by the authors in corresponding numerical calculations , was proved to exist based on the method of matching asymptotic expansions for three different channel configurations. It is shown that the resonant wave numbe rk emerges around kL=nπ, n=1,2,3,…∞ with a corresponding frequency s hift, where L is the length of the channel. It is also clear that the resona nce in a narrow open channel is an essential property of a channel as long as it is uniformly narrow.

Comparison of high order aberration after conventional and customized ablation in myopic LASIK in different eyes of the same patient

Purpose: To verify whether there exists any difference in higher order aberrations after undergoing myopic LASIK (laser in situ keratomileusis) with conventional ablation and customized ablation in different eyes of the same patient. Methods: This was a prospective randomized study of 54 myopic eyes (27 patients) that underwent LASIK using the Nidek EC-5000 ex-cimer laser system (Nidek, Gamagori, japan). Topography-guided customized aspheric treatment zone (CATz) was used in the first eye of the patient (study group) and the other eye of the same patient was operated on with conventional ablation (control group). Higher order aberrations [root-mean-square (RMS) in the 5-mm zone] of both groups were observed with the Nidek OPD-Scan aberrometer before and 3 months after LASIK. Preoperative mean refractive error was similar between two eyes of the same patient (t=?0.577, P>0.05). Results: Preoperatively, higher order aberrations (RMS in the 5-mm zone) in the CATz ablation and conventional groups were (0.3600±0.0341) μm and (0.2680±0.1421) μm, respectively. This difference was not statistically significant (t=1.292, P>0.05). Three months after LASIK, higher order aberrations (RMS in 5-mm zone) in the CATz ablation and conventional groups were (0.3627±0.1510) μm and (0.3991±0.1582) μm, respectively. No statistically significant difference was noted between pre- and postoperative higher order aberrations in the CATz group (t=?0.047, P>0.05). However, a statistically significant increase in higher order aberrations was observed after conventional ablation (t=?5.261, P<0.05). A statistically sig-nificant difference was noted in the increase of higher order aberrations after LASIK between groups (t=?2.050, P=0.045). Con-clusion: LASIK with conventional ablation and topography-guided CATz ablation resulted in the same BSCVA (best specta-cle-corrected visual acuity) 3 month after LASIK. The microplasma oxidation process of LY 12 Al alloy in Na2SiO3-KOH-NaAL2 system has been studied. The voltage-time curve of oxidation process is changed with the variation of current densities. The voltage breakdown and hardness of coating increase with increasing current density. The phase composition, morphologies, element and the distribution of ceramic coating are investigated by XRD, EPMA.
