Microarray analysis is used to identify transcriptional targets. However, the direct targets of transcription factors cannot be distin- guished from indirect ones; further, genes with low-expression levels cannot be identi ed by this method. In the present study, we exploit the cis-element dehydration-responsive element (DRE) that is known to be responsible for the transcription of DRE binding factor 1 (DREB1) targets in the promoter region of all Arabidopsis genes. Putative targets whose promoters contain the elements were veri ed by both microarray and reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) analysis. Five new DREB1/CBF direct targets were identi ed. Compared with traditional microarray analysis, our method is convenient and cost-e ective for identifying the downstream targets of transcription factors.

A new heat-resistant, soluble polymer, poly(phenyl-1,2,4.triazine imide), has been prepared via a two-step method of polycondensation of N,N'-bis(4.benzil)pyromellitimide and terephthalamidrazone in cresol, followed by curing at higher temperature. The rigid 1,2,4.triazine group increases the solubility of the polyimide so that the polymer is soluble in cresol, N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP), trifluoroacetic acid and concentrated sulfuric acid, etc. Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) indicates that this novel polyimide has good thermal stability with a high decomposition temperature of 4.7degreesC in air and of 4.3 degreesC in N-2, It has a tensile strength of 107.4.MI'a with an elongation at break of around 7.6%.

The selective sustainment of nonlinear systems to signals is of great significance to signal transduction in living *** take hormone signaling as an example,and investigate the sustainment of internal and external *** results prove that signals with "intrinsic frequency",no matter if it is noise induced or external injected,can be selectively sustained by exploiting internal and/or external *** the internal and external noise can optimize the noise-induced signals,and the optimization is rather robust to the disturbance of external signals with other *** results are of significance for weak signal detection and transduction in the presence of external signals.

This paper deals with the Nash inequalities and the related ones for general symmetric forms which can be very much unbounded. Some sufficient conditions in terms of the isoperimetric inequalities and some necessary conditions for the inequalities are presented. The resulting conditions can be sharp qualitatively as illustrated by some examples. It turns out that for a probability measure, the Nash inequalities are much stronger than the Poincare and the logarithmic Sobolev inequalities in the present context.

Finally it describes the force and moment of nodes of Earth system and provides basic model for the research of the Earth system multi-body dynamics.

The mechanism and kinetics for the decomposition of 3-hydroxy-3-methyl-2-butanone have been studied by using the ab initio RHF/3-21G method. The calculated activation barrier of the reaction is 24..6kJ/mol which is in reasonable agreement with the experimental data (222.2±3kJ/mol). The calculated results show that the decomposition is a concerted process with hydrogen transferring and bond breaking via a five-membered cyclic transition state. The thermal rate constants of the decomposition are obtained by calculating microcanonical probability fluxes through transition state1.

Let HCI be the Hua construction of the first type. We describe the Einstein-Kahler metric for HCI. We reduce the Monge-Ampere equation for the metric to an ordinary differential equation in the auxiliary function X(z,w,ζ). This differential equation can be solved to give an implicit function in x(z,w,ζ). For some cases, we obtained the solution of the differential equation and the explicit forms of the complete Einstein-Kahler metrics on HCI which are the non-homogeneous domains.
