Solution crystallization of metallocene short chain branched polyethylene (SCBPE) was carried out and very nice single crystals were obtained. Compared with single crystals grown from linear polyethylene, SCBPE single crystals are dirty due to intermolecular heterogeneity The crystal morphology changes with crystallization temperatures. Lozenge, truncated lozenge, hexagonal, rounded and elongated crystal morphologies have been found at much lower crystallization temperature than in linear polyethylene. The electron diffraction shows there is a possibility that the single crystals may have hexagonal packing in a crystallization temperature range. The lateral habits of single crystal are discussed based on roughening theories.

The category of fuzzy pretopological spaces is introduced, and it is proved that this category is a well-fibred extensional topological construct, and it is a finally dense extension of the category of fuzzy topological spaces. Moreover this category contains both the category of pretopological spaces and the category of probabilistic neighbourhood spaces as simultaneously bireflective and bicoreflective full subcategories.

A six-parameter mathematical model was introduced to simulate the stress-strain hysteresis and the sinner hysteresis of polycrystalline shape memory alloys (SMAs). By the comparison with experiments of Cu-Zn-Al SMA, it was shown that the model could be used to calculate the stress-strain relations with rather good accuracy. Moreover, it was found that the six parameters introduced in this paper represented the characteristics of the stress-strain hysteresis of polycrystalline SMAs and could be used to characterize the hysteresis quantitatively.

The paper makes detailed analysis on the changing processes of the main types of land use in Three Gorges Reservoir Area through the techniques of RS （Remote Sense） and GIS （Geography Information System）. Based on the theory of landscape ecology, many types of landscape pattern indexes are calculated and made correlation analysis. The results indicate that： in 1995 the ecological environment of Three Gorges Reservoir Area was the most vulnerable in the recent 50 years, but resumed in 2002; the landscape pattern diversity index, fractal dimension index and fragmentation index has close correlation with the area of land use/cover change （LUCC）. The research also releases that the increase of the cultivated land, grassland and construction land deteriorates the landscape ecological pattern, while the increase of forest land area will help restore the landscape ecological pattern to its original state. The rapid change of grassland is an important index of the change of landscape pattern, because it has the most effect on change of landscape pattern index.

BACKGROUND:While suppressor of cytokine signaling 3(SOCS3) plays a crucial role in suppressing dysplasia and tumorigenesis,it also offers a typical instance of DNA methylation in the regulation of gene transcription,since the promoter region of the SOCS3 gene is rich in CpG islands(CGIs).During liver regeneration initiated by partial hepatectomy,SOCS3 acts as a suppressor to balance the acute-phase response and terminate the *** study aimed to determine whether the variation of SOCS3 expression throughout liver regeneration is also regulated by its DNA ***:We established a 70% partial hepatectomy mouse model and the animals were sacrificed at indicated times to assess the SOCS3 *** performed bisulfite sequencing PCR and DNA sequencing to investigate the detailed cytosine methylation in the SOCS3 ***:Within the promoter sequence,58 CGIs were identified and 30 were found variously methylated before or after operation;however,methylation remained at a very low *** evidence indicated that the total methylation level or the methylation of any CpG site regularly changed throughout liver ***:DNA methylation or demethylation seems to be a relatively stable modification of cytosine,but not a dynamic and reversible process to regulate gene transcription in daily and acute pathophysiological events.

AIM:To investigate whether the clinicopathologic features of infantile hemangioendothelioma(IHE) of the liver in a Chinese population are similar to the features observed in other ***:The clinical data,radiological findings,histopathological changes and outcome of 12 cases of IHE diagnosed by the department of Pathology,west china hospital over the last 10 years were analyzed *** studies were carried out using antibodies against CD31,CD34,Factor Ⅷ,cytokeratin 8 and cytokeratin ***:The 12 patients were aged from fetal to 5 years(three males and nine females).The tumor was presented with different clinical manifestations,mainly as an asymptomatic,palpable,upper abdominal mass,except for the two fetuses who were detected antena-tally by *** one patient,this presentation was accompanied by an initial severe *** symptoms of congestive heart failure were present and neither congenital abnormalities nor vascular tumors in the skin or other organs were *** abnormalities included leukocytosis(40%),anemia(60%),thrombocytosis(60%),hyperbilirubinemia(16.7%),abnormal liver function(50%) and increased α-fetoprotein(80%).Based on radiological findings and gross specimens,the tumor presented as a solitary lesion or a multifocal space-occupying *** tumor size ranged from 5.0 cm × 3.5 cm × 2.0 cm to 13.8 cm × 9.0 cm × 7.7 cm,and the 0.2-1.1 cm nodules were diffusely distributed within the multifocal *** cases were surgically resected,three cases underwent biopsy and the two fetuses were ***,nine cases were classified as typeⅠ and three as type Ⅱ,presenting aggressive morphologic features,immature vessels,active mitosis and *** inflammatory component,predominantly eosinophilic granulocytes,sometimes obscured the nature of the *** patients are alive after a follow-up of 1-9 *** on immunohistochemistry,the endothelial cells in all cases were positiv

BACKGROUND: Gene therapy as part of modern molecu-lar medicine holds great promise for the treatment of hepa-tocellular carcinoma (HCC) and has the potential to bringa revolutionary era to cancer treatment. For the past de-cade various viral and non-viral vectors have been engi-neered for improved liver gene *** RESOURCES: An English-language literature searchusing MEDLINE (2004), Index Medicus (2004) and biblio-graphic reviews of books and review articles. Liver-directedgene transfer vectors and their history and recent ***: The ultimate goal of liver-directed gene therapyfor HCC is the stable expression of a therapeutic transgenein a significant proportion of hepatocytes. The design of avector system providing efficient and stable gene engraft-ment and expression in human hepatocytes is still a chal-lenging issue.
