In this paper, an ‘in-house＇ genetic algorithm is described and applied to an optimization problem for improving the aerodynamic performances of an aircraft wing tip through upper surface morphing. The algorithm＇s performances were studied from the convergence point of view, in accordance with design conditions. The algorithm was compared to two other optimization methods,namely the artificial bee colony and a gradient method, for two optimization objectives, and the results of the optimizations with each of the three methods were plotted on response surfaces obtained with the Monte Carlo method, to show that they were situated in the global optimum region. The optimization results for 16 wind tunnel test cases and 2 objective functions were presented. The 16 cases used for the optimizations were included in the experimental test plan for the morphing wing-tip demonstrator, and the results obtained using the displacements given by the optimizations were evaluated.

Acute myeloid leukemia(AML) is an aggressive malignant disease defined by abnormal expansion of myeloid blasts. Despite recent advances in understanding AML pathogenesis and identifying their molecular subtypes based on somatic mutations, AML is still characterized by poor outcomes, with a 5-year survival rate of only 30%-40%, the majority of the patients dying due to AML relapse. Leukemia stem cells(LSC) are considered to be at the root of chemotherapeutic resistance and AML relapse. Although numerous studies have tried to better characterize LSCs in terms of surface and molecular markers, a specific marker of LSC has not been found, and still the most universally accepted phenotypic signature remains the surface antigens CD34+CD38- that is shared with normal hematopoietic stem cells. Animal models provides the means to investigate the factors responsible for leukemic transformation, the intrinsic differences between secondary post-myeloproliferative neoplasm AML and de novo AML, especially the signaling pathways involved in inflammation and hematopoiesis. However, AML proved to be one of the hematological malignancies that is difficult to engraft even in the most immunodeficient mice strains, and numerous ongoing attempts are focused to develop "humanized mice" that can support the engraftment of LSC. This present review is aiming to in-troduce the field of AML pathogenesis and the concept of LSC, to present the current knowledge on leukemic blasts surface markers and recent attempts to develop best AML animal models.

There are two main approaches when discussing living green walls:an ecological one and an artistic *** thinking mainly considers environmental aspects,comfort enhancement and energy consumption and oversees human interaction and actual proximity to *** opposition,art or architecture installations that involve vegetation,lack technical and ecological aspects,aiming to raise awareness on environmental issues using human interaction either physically(direct)or emotionally(indirect).The present paper aims to analyze methods of combining the two directions,in a functional,ecological,yet aesthetically pleasing *** order to further develop previous experiences gathered by the team members,authors of this article,a green installation concept made out of interactive modular systems unites all the knowledge into a new,living,moving,dynamic,interactive structure whose inspiration is taken from nature while using biomimicry as main principle for its *** new concept responds and is influenced by both external,natural stimuli and by the human *** is a key element in developing this project,involving architecture,art,interior and landscape design,botany,geometry,mechanical and electrical engineering,leading towards new research directions and innovative approaches in greenery-interior environment connections.

Increasing evidence of a link between inflammatory bowel disease(IBD) and adverse cardiovascular events has emerged during the last *** 2014,an important number of meta-analyses and cohort studies clarified the subtle dangerous liaisons between gut inflammation and cardiovascular *** evidence suggests that patients with IBD have a significantly increased risk of myocardial infarction,stroke,and cardiovascular mortality,especially during periods of IBD *** populations(e.g.,women,young patients) may have an even greater *** effective treatment of IBD is aimed at disease remission and seems to reduce cardiovascular risk in these patients.A beneficial effect was demonstrated for salicylates,but not for steroids or *** necrosis factor-α antagonists,which are highly effective in the reduction of inflammation and in the restoration of the digestive mucosa,lead to conflicting cardiovascular effects,as they seem to reduce the risk for ischemic heart disease but increase the rate of cerebrovascular *** supplemental treatment strategies that may reduce the atherothrombotic risk during periods of IBD activity should be explored.

Sjogren Syndrome (SS) is an autoimmune disease characterized by a lymphocytic infiltration of exocrine glands. This abnormality leads to the destruction of these glands with the clinical expression of the sicca syndrome (dry eyes and dry mouth). Usually Sjogren Syndrome follows a non-aggressive course, but patients suffering from this disease have a very high risk of developing malignant lymphoma (MALT). The evolution from benign lymphocytic infiltration characteristic of Sjogren Syndrome to malignant lymphoma (usually MALT subtype) is a multistep process [1-3]. We present the case of 35 years old woman admitted to “Sf. Maria” Clinical Hospital—Bucharest, Romania, in the Rheumatology Department in May 2011, representative for the diagnosis difficulties as well as for the unfortunate evolution. She was diagnosed with primary Sjogren Syndrome in 2004. The first symptoms of the disease, dry eyes and dry mouth, appeared in 2000 but they were undermined by some hematological disorders, as the patient had a low white blood cell count at the biological evaluation. Four years later, when the diagnosis of Sjogren Syndrome was set, she already had some negative prognosis factors. In the end, the disease had an unfavorable outcome, as the patient developed non-Hodgkin malignant lymphoma for an unfortunate evolution.
