Dear Editor,Abiraterone has achieved great success in clinic by targeting cytochrome P45017A1(CYP17A)for prostate cancer therapy.1,2 However,drug resistance is inevitable and novel strategy is urgently *** previous work unveils a steroidal metabolic pathway for abiraterone in patients.3,4 Steroidogenic enzyme 3β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase 1(3βHSD1)catalyzes abiraterone toΔ4-abiraterone(D4A),which is further catalyzed to 5α-abiraterone(5α-Abi)by steroid-5α-reductase(SRD5A).The metabolite 5α-Abi binds to androgen receptor(AR)directly and activates AR signaling.

We conducted a prospective study of erectile dysfunction(ED)after urethral reconstructive surgery,using the 5-item International Index of Erectile Function(IIEF-5),the Sexual Life Quality Questionnaire(SLQQ)and the Quality of Life Questionnaire(QoLQ).Between January 2003 and July 2007,125 male patients with urethral strictures underwent urethroplasty,and pre-and post-surgery erectile function was assessed using these three questionnaires.A formula to predict the probability of ED after urethroplasty was *** 3 months post-operatively,there was a significant decrease in IIEF-5(16.57±7.98)and SLQQ scores(28.71±14.84)compared with pre-operative scores(P<0.05).However,the IIEF-5 scores rebounded at 6 months post-operatively(17.22±8.41).Logistical regression analysis showed that the location of the urethral stricture,the recurrence of strictures and the choice of surgical technique were predictive of the post-operative occurrence of *** study identified the clinical risk factors for ED after *** urethral stricture and end-to-end anastomosis were found to have a strong relationship with erectile *** logistical model derived in this study may be applied to clinical decision algorithms for patients with urethral strictures.

The Janus fabrics designed for personal moisture/thermal regulation have garnered significant attention for their potential to enhance human ***,the development of smart and dynamic fabrics capable of managing personal moisture/thermal comfort in response to changing external environments remains a ***,a smart cellulose-based Janus fabric was designed to dynamically manage personal moisture/*** cotton fabric was grafted with N-isopropylacrylamide to construct a temperature-stimulated transport ***,hydrophobic ethyl cellulose and hydrophilic cellulose nanofiber were sprayed on the bottom and top sides of the fabric to obtain wettability *** fabric exhibits anti-gravity directional liquid transportation from hydrophobic side to hydrophilic side,and can dynamically and continuously control the transportation time in a wide range of 3–66 s as the temperature increases from 10 to 40℃.This smart fabric can quickly dissipate heat at high temperatures,while at low temperatures,it can slow down the heat dissipation rate and prevent the human from becoming too *** addition,the fabric has UV shielding and photodynamic antibacterial properties through depositing graphitic carbon nitride nanosheets on the hydrophilic *** smart fabric offers an innovative approach to maximizing personal comfort in environments with significant temperature variations.

OBJECTIVE: To retrospective compare the outcome of buccal mucosa graft and penile pedical flap for substitution urethroplasty. PATIENTS AND METHODS Between January 2002 and Decenber 2006 , 116 male patients with anterior urethral strictures underwent substitution urethroplasty. The length of stricture ranged from 2cm to 12cm (mean 6.1).The mean age of the patients was 45 (rang 17～80)years.

Objective:We evaluated the efficacy of bulbourethral composite sling procedure and pedicled rectus abdominis muscle flap suspending the bulbar urethra in the treatment of male urinary incontinence. Methods:Between October 2000 and December 2007, a bulbourethral composite sling using a polyester patch plus tension free vaginal tape (TVT) device was performed in 40 patients with acquired urinary incontinence.

Neuronal activity,synaptic transmission,and molecular changes in the basolateral amygdala play critical roles in fear ***(CYLD)is a deubiquitinase that negatively regulates the nuclear factor kappa-B *** is well studied in non-neuronal cells,yet underinvestigated in the brain,where it is highly *** studies have shown involvement of CYLD in the remodeling of glutamatergic synapses,neuroinflammation,fear memory,and anxiety-and autism-like ***,the precise role of CYLD in glutamatergic neurons is largely ***,we first proposed involvement of CYLD in cued fear *** next constructed transgenic model mice with specific deletion of Cyld from glutamatergic *** results show that glutamatergic CYLD deficiency exaggerated the expression of cued fear in only male ***,loss of CYLD in glutamatergic neurons resulted in enhanced neuronal activation,impaired excitatory synaptic transmission,and altered levels of glutamate receptors accompanied by over-activation of microglia in the basolateral amygdala of male ***,our study suggests a critical role of glutamatergic CYLD in maintaining normal neuronal,synaptic,and microglial *** may contribute,at least in part,to cued fear expression.

The mechanical behavior of cemented gangue backfill materials(CGBMs)is closely related to particle size distribution(PSD)of aggregates and properties of cementitious ***,the true triaxial compression tests,CT scanning,SEM,and EDS tests were conducted on cemented gangue backfill samples(CGBSs)with various carbon nanotube concentrations(P_(CNT))that satisfied fractal theory for the PSD of *** mechanical properties,energy dissipations,and failure mechanisms of the CGBSs under true triaxial compression were systematically *** results indicate that appropriate carbon nanotubes(CNTs)effectively enhance the mechanical properties and energy dissipations of CGBSs through micropore filling and microcrack bridging,and the optimal effect appears at P_(CNT)of 0.08wt%.Taking PSD fractal dimension(D)of 2.500 as an example,compared to that of CGBS without CNT,the peak strength(σ_(p)),axial peak strain(ε_(1,p)),elastic strain energy(Ue),and dissipated energy(U_(d))increased by 12.76%,29.60%,19.05%,and90.39%,***,excessive CNTs can reduce the mechanical properties of CGBSs due to CNT agglomeration,manifesting a decrease inρ_(p),ε_(1,p),and the volumetric strain increment(Δε_(v))when P_(CNT)increases from 0.08wt%to 0.12wt%.Moreover,the addition of CNTs improved the integrity of CGBS after macroscopic failure,and crack extension in CGBSs appeared in two modes:detour and pass through the ***σ_(p)and U_(d)firstly increase and then decrease with increasing D,and porosity shows the opposite ***ε_(1,p)andΔε_(v)are negatively correlated with D,and CGBS with D=2.150 has the maximum deformation parameters(ε_(1,p)=0.05079,Δε_(v)=0.01990)due to the frictional slip effect caused by coarse *** increasing D,the failure modes of CGBSs are sequentially manifested as oblique shear failure,"Y-shaped"shear failure,and conjugate shear failure.

Two-terminal(2-T)perovskite(PVK)/CuIn(Ga)Se_(2)(CIGS)tandem solar cells(TSCs)have been considered as an ideal tandem cell because of their best bandgap matching regarding to Shockley–Queisser(S–Q)***,the nature of the irregular rough morphology of commercial CIGS prevents people from improving tandem device *** this paper,D-homoserine lactone hydrochloride is proven to improve coverage of PVK materials on irregular rough CIGS surfaces and also passivate bulk defects by modulating the growth of PVK *** addition,the minority carriers near the PVK/C60 interface and the incompletely passivated trap states caused interface recombination.A surface reconstruction with 2-thiopheneethylammonium iodide and N,N-dimethylformamide assisted passivates the defect sites located at the surface and grain ***,LiF is used to create this field effect,repelling hole carriers away from the PVK and C60 interface and thus reducing *** a result,a 2-T PVK/CIGS tandem yielded a power conversion efficiency of 24.6%(0.16 cm^(2)),one of the highest results for 2-T PVK/CIGS TSCs to our *** validation underscores the potential of our methodology in achieving superior performance in PVK/CIGS tandem solar cells.
