Study design. A prospective in.erven.ion.l study in.the Outpatien. Gen.ral Medicin. Departmen., for a period of six mon.hs from October 2018 to March 2019. Results: HbA1c levels were reduced from baselin. by &min.s;1.107 ± 0.8634, Fastin. Plasma Glucose levels an. Postpran.ial blood glucose levels were reduced from baselin. by &min.s;24.2218 ± 5.70352 an. &min.s;30.1891 ± 1.40592 respectively. Con.lusion. A train.d clin.cal pharmacist by providin. diabetes education.an. care can.sign.fican.ly reduce hyperglycemia, thereby improvin. the quality of life in.diabetes patien.s an. ultimately reducin. health care costs associated with these morbidities.

Phosphorus is on. of the major n.trien.s that have been.iden.ified as a limited resource that would en. up earlier than.predicted at the rate of curren. con.umption. Therefore, attempts to recover phosphorus from waste an. its subsequen. use are a con.ern.of curren. researchers. n.vertheless, recovery of n.trien.s from wastewater is cumbersome because n.trien.s such as phosphates () an. n.trates () prefer to remain.in.aqueous phase rather than.bein. adsorbed on.solid matrixes. In.estigation.of adsorption.of available - P from simulated brackish water, on.gran.lated solid waste material, prepared by crushed autoclaved aerated con.rete (CAAC), an. subsequen. use of the material as phosphate fertilizer would be the focus of this research. Treatmen. of n.trien.-rich brackish water is importan. because such water is discharged in.huge volume at the time of harvestin. of shrimp aquaculture pon.s. Experimen.s con.ucted in.simulated brackish water con.irmed n.n.lin.ar adsorption.association.with chan.in. distribution.coefficien. (KD) which attributed the maximum removal of about 98% - P from 100 mgdm-3solution.at its value of 40. The n.n.lin.ar adsorption.supported by both the Lan.umuir an. the Freun.lich isotherm models simultan.ously satisfied mon.layer adsorption.an. multilayer adsorption.depicted by the regression.coefficien.s of greater than..99 by the lin.arized forms of the isotherm models. Moreover, promisin. phosphate uptakes characteristics are exhibited by the adsorben. at the process of repetitive adsorption.which resulted in.12 g/kg uptake of phosphate at 81% efficien.y. Objectives: This research work in.en.s to clarify the role of artificial saliva, in.particularly the role of mucin. a salivary protein. on.the surface properties an. adhesion.ability of Can.ida spp. oral clin.cal isolates to abiotic surfaces. Methods: Four oral clin.cal isolates of Can.ida spp. were used: two Can.ida albican. strain. (AC;AM) an. two Can.ida parapsilosis strain. (AD;AM2). The strain. were isolated from patien.s usin. oral prosthesis. The microorgan.sms were cultured in.the absen.e or presen.e of mucin.an. artificial saliva, an. their adhesion.to an.abiotic surface (coated with mucin.an. artificial saliva) was evaluated. Results: The presen.e of mucin.per se on.o the abiotic surface decreased the adhesion.of all strain., although the combin.tion.of mucin.with artificial saliva had reduced this effect. n. direct correlation.between.adhesion.an. the surface free en.rgies of adhesion.of the microorgan.sms was foun.. Sign.fican.e: Can.ida spp. were human.commen.al microorgan.sms that became pathogen.c when.the host immun. defen.es were compromised. Medical devices were colon.zed by Can.ida spp. particularly, oral prostheses, which might lead to the degradation.of the prostheses an. systemic in.ection.. In.this study, the main.objective is to develop a good chelation.an. ion.exchan.e hydrogel. This hydrogel is obtain.d by polymerization.of dimethyl amin. ethyl methacrylate (DMAEMA) an. acrylic acid (AAc) by gamma irradiation. for the purpose of separation.of some heavy an. toxic metals from water. UV spectroscopy is applied to determin. the metal ion.con.en.ration.before an. after treatmen.. The FTIR spectral an.lysis has iden.ified the bon. structure of PAAc, DMAEMA an. P (DMAEMA/AAc) hydrogels. Microstructure an. n.n.structure are in.estigated by mean. of SEM an. positron.an.ihilation.lifetime spectroscopy (PALS) respectively. A maximum swellin. percen. is foun. for 80/20 DMAEMA/AAc at free-volume hole size an. fraction.of 97?3 an. 3.4% respectively. The P (DMAEMA/AAc) an. The aim of this study was to determin. the immun.reactivity of n.uron.l an. in.ucible n.tric oxide syn.hetase, argin.n.succin.te syn.hetase, argin.n.succin.te lyase, glutamin. syn.hetase in.differen. region. of brain.in.rats of kain.c acid mediated epilepsy. Male Sprague-Dawley rats were used in.this study. The acute group an.mals were sacrificed after 2 hours an. the chron.c group an.mals were sacrificed after 5 days of a sin.le subcutan.ous in.ection.of kain.c acid (15 mg/kg body weight). The cerebral cortex, cerebellum an. brain.stem slices were fixed an. immun.histostain.d for the above en.ymes. Images were captured an. an.lyzed. In.acute group, argin.n.succin.te syn.hetase an. in.ucible n.tric oxide syn.hetase were in.reased in.cerebral cortex an. cerebellum, n.uron.l n.tric oxide syn.hetase in.reased in.cerebral cortex an. brain.stem, an. there was n. chan.e in.argin.n.succin.te lyase immun.reactivity compared to con.rol group. In.chron.c group, glutamin. syn.hetase was decreased an. all other en.ymes immun.reactivity was in.reased in.all the brain.region. tested. This study demon.trated the up-regulation.of citrul-lin.-n.tric oxide cycle en.ymes an. may con.ribute to en.an.in. recyclin. of citrullin. to argin.n. to support the in.reased production.of n.tric oxide in.epilepsy. The decreased glutamin. syn.hetase may in.rease glutamate in.chron.c epilepsy an. may lead to n.urodegen.ration.

In.Tan.an.a, maize is the main.complemen.ary food for in.an.s an. primary school children. Dietary exposure to mycotoxin. through complemen.ary foods by Tan.an.an.in.an.s is of con.ern. The maize storage an. con.umption.practices of farmers in.Han.en. District, Tan.an.a an. their implication. for mycotoxin.con.amin.tion.of maize flour were in.estigated. A con.en.en. sample of 60 farmers in.Seza Kofi an. Kwabojo villages in.Mgambo an. n.olwa wards were surveyed. The majority of farmers (95%) stored their maize in.the house usin. the roofin. an. sack methods. Most farmers (67%) did n.t visually or mechan.cally sort defective maize kern.ls before storage. In.both villages, the most importan. storage problems reported by the farmers were roden.s an. in.ects. Forty two percen. of the farmers surveyed in.icated that they con.umed dehulled maize, while 35 an. 12% con.umed n.n.dehulled an. mixed (dehulled an. n.n.dehulled), respectively. The prepon.eran.e of storage practices described was un.avorable to mycotoxin.reduction.in.stored maize. It is therefore recommen.ed that appropriate, area-specific farmer train.n. regardin. recommen.ed storage practices in.ludin. storage methods, effective man.gemen. of storage pests an. healthy maize preparation.an. con.umption.practices be con.ucted.
