Colorectal cancer(CRC) is the second leading cause of cancer worldwide. CRC is still associated with a poor prognosis among patients with advanced disease. On the contrary, due to its slow progression from detectable precancerous lesions, the prognosis for patients with early stages of CRC is encouraging. While most robust methods are invasive and costly, actual patient-friendly screening methods for CRC suffer of lack of sensitivity and specificity. Therefore, the development of sensitive, non-invasive and cost-effective methods for CRC detection and prognosis are necessary for increasing the chances of a cure. Beyond its beneficial functions for the host, increasing evidence suggests that the intestinal microbiota is a key factor associated with carcinogenesis. Many clinical studies have reported a disruption in the gut microbiota balance and an alteration in the faecal metabolome of CRC patients, suggesting the potential use of a microbialbased test as a non-invasive diagnostic and/or prognostic tool for CRC screening. This review aims to discuss the microbial signatures associated with CRC known to date, including dysbiosis and faecal metabolome alterations, andthe potential use of microbial variation markers for noninvasive early diagnosis and/or prognostic assessment of CRC and advanced adenomas. We will finally discuss the possible use of these markers as predicators for treatment response and their limitations.

A hallmark of systemic lupus erythematosus(SLE)is the breaking of B-cell tolerance with the generation of high-affinity autoantibodies;however,the antibody-independent features of the B-cell compartment in SLE are less *** this study,we performed an extensive examination of B-cell subsets and their proinflammatory properties in a Chinese cohort of new-onset SLE *** observed that SLE patients exhibited an increased frequency of transitional B cells compared with healthy donors and rheumatoid arthritis *** from SLE patients potently promoted the survival of transitional B cells in a type I IFN-dependent manner,which can be recapitulated by direct IFN-α***,the effect of IFN-αon enhanced survival of transitional B cells was associated with NF-κB pathway activation and reduced expression of the pro-apoptotic molecule *** B cells from SLE patients harbored a higher capacity to produce proinflammatory cytokine IL-6,which was also linked to the overactivated type I IFN *** addition,the frequency of IL-6-producing transitional B cells was positively correlated with disease activity in SLE patients,and these cells were significantly reduced after short-term standard ***,the current study provides a direct link between type I IFN pathway overactivation and the abnormally high frequency and proinflammatory properties of transitional B cells in active SLE patients,which contributes to the understanding of the roles of type I IFNs and B cells in the pathogenesis of SLE.

Palynological and Physicochemical Characterization of Honey in the Sudano-Guinean Zone of Cameroon

The palynological and physico-chemical characterization of honey was investigated in the Sudano- Guinean zone of Cameroon through the melissopalynology analysis. Results showed that honey with the dark amber color was the most represented. Sweet honey with less odour considered as pleasant highly predominate. The pH of honey is low and varies from 3.95 to 5.00;this ranking confirms the hypothesis that honey is from plant through visit of honeybees. The sugar content is very high ranging from 77.93% to 83.13%;the mean value is 78.90% and this value confirms that the honey is floral honey. The density value ranges from 1.39 to 1.43 and does not exceed the average standard (1.39 to 1.44 at 20℃). Water contents correspond to the standards norms. For free acidity, the highest value is 48.68 ± 0.28. There is a low positive correlation (r = 0.2) between free acidity and the pH of honey. Pollen analysis of honeys led to the identification of 41 pollen species belonging to 25 families. The highly represented families are Asteraceae and Myrtaceae. Two thirds of honey is monofloral and characteristics of three dominant species: Nymphaea maculata, Terminalia avicennioides and Syzygium guineense. The pollens of Syzygium guineense are present in all honey samples analysed.

The cumulative effects of periodic redox cycling on the mobility of As,Fe,and S from alluvial sediment to groundwater were investigated in bioreactor *** particular sediments from the alluvial floodplain of the Mekong Delta River were investigated: Matrix A (14 m deep) had a higher pyrite concentration than matrix B (7 m deep) *** present in matrix B but absent in matrix *** the reactors,the sediment suspensions were supplemented with As(III) and SO4^2-,and were subjected to three full-redox cycles entailing phases of nitrogen/CO2,compressed air sparging,and cellobiose *** differences in As concentration and speciation were observed upon redox *** support the fact that initial sediment composition is the main factor controlling arsenic release and its speciation during the redox ***,a high pyrite content associated with a low SO4^2- content resulted in an increase in dissolved As concentrations,mainly in the form of As(III),after anoxic half-cycles;whereas a decrease in As concentrations mainly in the form of As(V),was instead observed after oxic *** addition,oxic conditions were found to be responsible for pyrite and arsenian pyrite oxidation,increasing the As pool available for *** same processes seem to occur in sediment with the presence of gypsum,but,in this case,dissolved As were sequestered by biotic or abiotic redox reactions occurring in the FeeS system,and by specific physico-chemical condition (***).The contrasting results obtained for two sediments sampled from the same core show that many complexes and entangled factors are at work,and further refinement is needed to explain the spatial and temporal variability of As release to groundwater of the Mekong River Delta (Vietnam).

PHOX2B mutations in three Chinese patients with congenital central hypoventilation syndrome

Congenital central hypoventilation syndrome （CCHS, OMIM #209880） is a rare autosomal dominant disorder of the autonomic nervous system （ANS） characterized by an abnormal autonomic ventilatory response to progressive hypercarbia and sustained hypoxemia. Patients typically present in the newborn period with hypoventilation or apnea asleep, awake, or both, without any associated cardiac, pulmonary, neuromuscular or brainstem lesions. Rarely, some patients may present at a later age and are diagnosed to have late onset central hypoventilation syndrome （LOCHS）.1 Other features of ANS dysfunction such as feeding difficulty due to oesophageal dysmotility, severe constipation in the absence of Hirschsprung disease, poor regulation of basal body temperature, episodes of profuse sweating, pupillary and ocular abnormalities, decreased beat-to-beat variability of heart rate, attenuated response of heart rate to exercise, abnormal fluctuation of blood pressure, decreased perception to pain, and decreased perception to anxiety may be variably present but not essential for diagnosis Furthermore, this central hypoventilation can occur as an isolated feature or in association with a number of neurocristopathies, notably Hirschsprung disease （Haddad syndrome, OMIM #209880） and tumours of the sympathetic nervous system particularly neuroblastoma, ganglioneuro- blastoma, and ganglioneuroma, which were found in 20% and 5%--10% of CCHS patients, respectively.2 Studies of genes pertinent to the early embryologic development of the neural crest cells, specifically the endothelin and the RET-GDNF signaling pathways, have recently led to the identification of PHOX2B as the major disease causing gene for CCHS.2-6 PHOX2B was mapped to chromosome 4p12 and consists of 3 exons. Flat electro-optical frequency combs play an important role in a wide range of applications,such as metrology,spectroscopy,or microwave *** a key technology for the integration of optical circuits,silicon photonics could benefit from on-chip,tunable,flat frequency comb *** this article,two different architectures based on silicon modulators are studied for this *** rely on a time to frequency conversion principle to shape the comb *** a numerical model of the silicon traveling-wave phase modulators,their driving schemes are optimized before their performances are simulated and compared.A total of nine lines could be obtained within a 2 dB flatness,with a line-spacing ranging from 0.1 to 7 *** this tunability is a major asset of electro-optical frequency combs,the effect of segmenting the phase modulators is finally investigated,showing that the flat lines spacing could be extended up to 39 GHz by this method.

Prognostic impact of body mass index on in-hospital bleeding complications after ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction

BACKGROUND ST-elevation myocardial infarction(STEMI)remains a major cause of mortality despite early revascularization and optimal medical *** individual management by considering patients’specificities may help in improving post-STEMI *** To evaluate whether in-hospital bleeding complications may be involved in post STEMI prognosis among overweight *** We prospectively included 2070 patients with a STEMI between January 2005 and December 2012 in the French observational cohort,“Registre d’Infarctus Maine-Anjou”.Bleeding Academic Research Consortium(BARC)in-hospital bleeding complications were *** Of 705 patients(35.3%)were presented as being of normal weight,defined as a body mass index(BMI)<25 kg/m^2,877(43.9%)had a BMI between 25 and 30 kg/m^2and 416(20.8%)had a BMI≥30 kg/m^***-year cardiovascular mortality was lower for BMI≥25 kg/m^2(5.3%and 7.1%)patients than for normal weight patients(10.8%)(P=0.001).We found an interaction between the effect of BARC 3 on mortality and BMI *** a BARC 3 was related to a higher 1-year mortality in general(HR:2.58,95%CI:1.44-4.64,P≤0.001),prognosis was even worse in normal weight patients(HR:2.97,95%CI:1.61-5.5,P<0.001)than for patients with a BMI≥25 kg/m^2(HR:1.94,95%CI:1.02-3.69,P=0.041).CONCLUSION Normal weight patients presented higher rates of in-hospital bleeding complications and lower survival after a *** mortality might be due to greater vulnerability to bleeding amongst normal weight patients.

近年来,天然气作为清洁能源广泛应用于发电、化工、城市燃气等领域。然而,在天然气开采和运输过程中,汞元素的存在会对人体健康、铝设备和生态环境等造成危害。汞具有毒性、持久性、生物累积性和大范围的传播性。它会腐蚀铝设备,导致容器减压、管道泄漏和爆炸。因此,实现含汞天然气的高效且经济的净化已成为天然气循环利用发展中亟待解决的问题之一。在工业上,活性炭常用作天然气中汞的吸附剂。根据活性炭的孔结构和比表面积的微观性质,实验中用硫对活性炭进行改性,并用固定床吸附装置评价吸附剂的吸附能力。本实验主要采用高温硫化法和超临界流体沉积法制备硫浸渍的多孔活性炭。高温硫化法制备硫浸渍多孔活性炭的主要影响因素有浸渍时间、浸渍温度和硫碳比;超临界流体沉积法的主要影响因素包括温度、压力、浸渍比和共溶剂。研究结果表明:采用高温硫浸渍法合成了硫浸渍的多孔活性炭,并在小型固定床反应器中,将所合成的吸附剂应用于去除天然气中的汞元素。设计了一系列的实验探究了Hg的最佳捕获条件。此外,实验结果表明,脱除Hg的最佳条件分别为:硫与活性炭的浸渍比为1:10、浸渍温度为350℃以及浸渍时间为3小时。高温可以改变活性炭的表面性质,从而形成了新的活性吸附位点。首先,随着浸渍温度的逐渐升高,硫浸渍的多孔活性炭的吸附容量随之增大。然而,当浸渍温度高于500℃时、硫浸渍的多孔活性炭的吸附容量开始减小。研究表明,制备的吸附剂能够以较高的吸附效率去除大量的Hg（23.615mg/g）。本研究工作可为天然气发电厂在相同条件下脱除汞提供参考。在超临界实验中,压力和温度对试样有很大的影响。其中优化制备的吸附剂在12.5 MPa下,反应器温度在40～80°C时,吸附剂具有最佳的吸附能力。二硫化碳溶液是促进硫进入活性炭孔隙,提高硫装填效率的共溶剂。

Background:Cholera is endemic in Guinea,having suffered consecutive outbreaks from 2004 to 2008 followed by a lull until the 2012 *** we describe the temporal-spatial and behavioural characteristics of cholera cases in Conakry during a three-year period,including the large-scale 2012 ***:We used the national and African Cholera Surveillance Network(Africhol)surveillance data collected from every cholera treatment centre in Conakry city from August 2011 to December *** prevalence of suspect and confirmed cholera cases,the case fatality ratio(CFR),and the factors associated with suspected cholera were described according to three periods:pre-epidemic(A),epidemic 2012(B)and post epidemic(C).Weekly attack rates and temporal-spatial clustering were calculated at municipality level for period *** was confirmed by culture at the cholera national reference ***:A total of 4559 suspect cases were reported:66,4437,and 66 suspect cases in periods A,B and C,*** the 204 suspect cases with culture results available,6%,60%,and 70%were confirmed in periods A,B,and C,*** 0.3%,the CFR was significantly lower in period B than in periods A(7.6%)and C(7.1%).The overall attack rate was 0.28%in period B,ranging from 0.17%to 0.31%across ***,a cluster of cases was identified in two districts in the northern part of *** 14%,rice water stools were less frequent in period A than in period B and C(78%and 84%).Dehydration(31%vs 94%and 89%)and coma(0.4%vs 3.1%and 2.9%)were lower during period B than in periods A and *** treatment of drinking water was less frequent in period A,while there were more reports of recent travel in period ***:The epidemic dynamic and the sociological description of suspect cases before,during,and after the large-scale epidemic revealed that the Vibrio cholerae was already present before the ***,it appeared that infected individuals react
