Studying the membrane physiology of filamentous fungi is key to understanding their interactions with the environment and crucial for developing new therapeutic strategies for disease-causing ***,their plasma membrane has been inaccessible for a micron-sized patch-clamp pipette for pA current recordings due to the rigid chitinous cell ***,we report the first femtosecond IR laser nanosurgery of the cell wall of the filamentous fungi,which enabled patch-clamp measurements on protoplasts released from hyphae.A reproducible and highly precise(diffraction-limited,submicron resolution)method for obtaining viable released protoplasts was *** release from the nanosurgery-generated incisions in the cell wall was achieved from different regions of the *** plasma membrane of the obtained protoplasts formed tight and high-resistance(GΩ)contacts with the recording *** entire nanosurgical procedure followed by the patch-clamp technique could be completed in less than 1 *** to previous studies using heterologously expressed channels,this technique provides the opportunity to identify new ionic currents and to study the properties of the ion channels in the protoplasts of filamentous fungi in their native environment.

本文建立了一种具有分形结构的元件模型,用于描述材料弹粘塑性特性,并可以在无需求解相应的无限阶微分方程的情况下获得各载荷作用下模型的力学反应.首先,基于这种建模方法,建立了表征具有复杂无限阶分形结构材料弹黏塑性特性的混联元件模型(L-R模型).然后,利用MATLAB/Simulink,借助弹簧(弹性)、黏壶(黏性)和塑性体(塑性)单元的本构关系来描述材料的基本力学性能.之后,将宾厄姆模型作为基本模型按照分形理论进行迭代,通过求解得到描述材料在各种载荷作用下的力学(弹黏塑性)反应.最后,为了验证该建模方法及其求解结果的可靠性,在钢、板岩、煤、红砂岩和盐岩五种不同分形结构的材料上进行了循环载荷实验.将实验结果与求解结果进行比较,表明所建立的模型能够有效地描述材料的弹黏塑性性能.

Development of power electronic devices and their implementation in power distribution networks significantly improves not only the easier integration of distributed generation into distribution networks but also the further refinement of control algorithms specialized in the application of power management procedures in distribution *** of DC Soft Open Points(DCSOP)for closing loops in distribution networks could serve as one of the most representative examples of the use of power electronic devices as management resources in modern distribution *** paper describes the possibilities of the application of DCSOP used for loops closure and power flow control in medium voltage distribution networks with integrated distributed *** all the benefits of loops closure and the controllability of the DCSOP,it is considered as a management resource capable of achieving the desired/optimal state in the distribution *** management strategy proposed in this paper covers two cases:the first case is where an adequate communication infrastructure is available when all DCSOP operations are based on Optimal Power Flow(OPF)calculations,and the second case is when OPF results are unavailable for some reason(most often due to communication interruptions)and DCSOP operations are based on processing available data using a neural network-based *** proposed management strategy has been implemented and tested on an IEEE 33 distribution test network with integrated distributed *** simulation results,described in this paper,can serve not only as a basis for further scientific research but also as a basis for the practical implementation of real controllers based on the proposed algorithm and its application in practice,and in real distribution networks.

Use of gold nanoparticles(GNPs)in medicine is an emerging field of translational research with vast clinical implications and exciting therapeutic ***,the safety of using GNPs in human subjects is an important question that remains *** study reviews over 20 clinical trials focused on GNP safety and aims to summarize all the clinical studies,completed and ongoing,to identify whether GNPs are safe to use in humans as a therapeutic *** these studies,GNPs were implemented as drug delivery devices,for photothermal therapy,and utilized for their intrinsic therapeutic effects by various routes of *** studies revealed no major safety concerns with the use of GNPs;however,the number of trials and total patient number remains ***-dose,multicenter blinded trials are required to deepen our understanding of the use of GNPs in clinical settings to facilitate translation of this novel,multifaceted therapeutic *** clinical trials will require collaboration between clinicians,scientists,and biotechnology companies.

Perforated midgut diverticulitis:Revisited

AIM:To study and provide data on the evolution of medical procedures and outcomes of patients suffering from perforated midgut diverticulitis. METHODS:Three data sources were used:the Medline and Google search engines were searched for case reports on one or more patients treated for perforated midgut diverticulitis (Meckel's diverticulitis excluded) that were published after 1995. The inclusion criterion was sufficient individual patient data in the article. Both indexed and non-indexed journals were used. Patients treated for perforated midgut diverticulitis at Vestfold Hospital were included in this group. Data on symptoms, laboratory and radiology results, treatment modalities, surgical access, procedures, complications and outcomes were collected. The Norwegian patient registry was searched to find patients operated upon for midgut diverticulitis from 1999 to 2007. The data collected were age, sex, mode of access, surgical procedure performed and number of patients per year. Historical controls were retrieved from an article published in 1995 containing pertinent individual patient data. Statistical analysis was done with SPSS ***:GroupⅠ:106 patients (48 men) were found. Mean age was 72.2 ± 13.1 years (mean ± SD). Age or sex had no impact on outcomes (P = 0.057 and P = 0.771, respectively). Preoperative assessment was plain radiography in 53.3% or computed tomography (CT) in 76.1%. Correct diagnosis was made in 77.1% with CT, 5.6% without (P = 0.001). Duration of symptoms before hospitalization was 3.6 d (range:1-35 d), but longer duration was not associated with poor outcome (P = 0.748). Eighty-six point eight percent of patients underwent surgery, 92.4% of these through open access where 90.1% had bowel resection. Complications occurred in 19.2% of patients and 16.3% underwent reoperation. Distance from perforation to Treitz ligament was 41.7 ± 28.1 cm. This article concerns the construction of approximate solutions for a general stochastic integrodifferential equation which is not explicitly solvable and whose coeffcients functionally depend on Lebesgue integrals and stochastic integrals with respect to martingales. The approximate equations are linear ordinary stochastic differential equations, the solutions of which are defined on sub-intervals of an arbitrary partition of the time interval and connected at successive division points. The closeness of the initial and approximate solutions is measured in the L^p-th norm, uniformly on the time interval. The convergence with probability one is also given.

Considering the complex nature of the adult heart, it is no wonder that innate regenerative processes, while maintaining adequate cardiac function, fall short in myocardial jeopardy. In spite of these enchaininglimitations, cardiac rejuvenation occurs as well as restricted regeneration. In this review, the background as well as potential mechanisms of endogenous myocardial regeneration are summarized. We present and analyze the available evidence in three subsequent steps. First, we examine the experimental research data that provide insights into the mechanisms and origins of the replicating cardiac myocytes, including cell populations referred to as cardiac progenitor cells(i.e., c-kit+ cells). Second, we describe the role of clinical settings such as acute or chronic myocardial ischemia, as initiators of pathways of endogenous myocardial regeneration. Third, the hitherto conducted clinical studies that examined different approaches of initiating endogenous myocardial regeneration in failing human hearts are analyzed. In conclusion, we present the evidence in support of the notion that regaining cardiac function beyond cellular replacement of dysfunctional myocardium via initiation of innate regenerative pathways could create a new perspective and a paradigm change in heart failure therapeutics. Reinitiating cardiac morphogenesis by reintroducing developmental pathways in the adult failing heart might provide a feasible way of tissue regeneration. Based on our hypothesis "embryonic recall", we present first supporting evidence on regenerative impulses in the myocardium, as induced by developmental processes.
