The high flexibility,impermeability and strength of graphene membranes are key properties that can enable the next generation of nanomechanical ***,for capacitive pressure sensors,the sensitivity offered by a single suspended graphene membrane is too small to compete with commercial ***,we realize highly sensitive capacitive pressure sensors consisting of arrays of nearly ten thousand small,freestanding double-layer graphene *** fabricate large arrays of small-diameter membranes using a procedure that maintains the superior material and mechanical properties of graphene,even after high-temperature *** sensors are readout using a low-cost battery-powered circuit board,with a responsivity of up to 47:8aF Pa^(−1) mm^(−2),thereby outperforming the commercial sensors.

Development of power electronic devices and their implementation in power distribution networks significantly improves not only the easier integration of distributed generation into distribution networks but also the further refinement of control algorithms specialized in the application of power management procedures in distribution *** of DC Soft Open Points(DCSOP)for closing loops in distribution networks could serve as one of the most representative examples of the use of power electronic devices as management resources in modern distribution *** paper describes the possibilities of the application of DCSOP used for loops closure and power flow control in medium voltage distribution networks with integrated distributed *** all the benefits of loops closure and the controllability of the DCSOP,it is considered as a management resource capable of achieving the desired/optimal state in the distribution *** management strategy proposed in this paper covers two cases:the first case is where an adequate communication infrastructure is available when all DCSOP operations are based on Optimal Power Flow(OPF)calculations,and the second case is when OPF results are unavailable for some reason(most often due to communication interruptions)and DCSOP operations are based on processing available data using a neural network-based *** proposed management strategy has been implemented and tested on an IEEE 33 distribution test network with integrated distributed *** simulation results,described in this paper,can serve not only as a basis for further scientific research but also as a basis for the practical implementation of real controllers based on the proposed algorithm and its application in practice,and in real distribution networks.

This article concerns the construction of approximate solutions for a general stochastic integrodifferential equation which is not explicitly solvable and whose coeffcients functionally depend on Lebesgue integrals and stochastic integrals with respect to martingales. The approximate equations are linear ordinary stochastic differential equations, the solutions of which are defined on sub-intervals of an arbitrary partition of the time interval and connected at successive division points. The closeness of the initial and approximate solutions is measured in the L^p-th norm, uniformly on the time interval. The convergence with probability one is also given.

Use of gold nanoparticles(GNPs)in medicine is an emerging field of translational research with vast clinical implications and exciting therapeutic ***,the safety of using GNPs in human subjects is an important question that remains *** study reviews over 20 clinical trials focused on GNP safety and aims to summarize all the clinical studies,completed and ongoing,to identify whether GNPs are safe to use in humans as a therapeutic *** these studies,GNPs were implemented as drug delivery devices,for photothermal therapy,and utilized for their intrinsic therapeutic effects by various routes of *** studies revealed no major safety concerns with the use of GNPs;however,the number of trials and total patient number remains ***-dose,multicenter blinded trials are required to deepen our understanding of the use of GNPs in clinical settings to facilitate translation of this novel,multifaceted therapeutic *** clinical trials will require collaboration between clinicians,scientists,and biotechnology companies.

Considering the complex nature of the adult heart, it is no wonder that innate regenerative processes, while maintaining adequate cardiac function, fall short in myocardial jeopardy. In spite of these enchaininglimitations, cardiac rejuvenation occurs as well as restricted regeneration. In this review, the background as well as potential mechanisms of endogenous myocardial regeneration are summarized. We present and analyze the available evidence in three subsequent steps. First, we examine the experimental research data that provide insights into the mechanisms and origins of the replicating cardiac myocytes, including cell populations referred to as cardiac progenitor cells(i.e., c-kit+ cells). Second, we describe the role of clinical settings such as acute or chronic myocardial ischemia, as initiators of pathways of endogenous myocardial regeneration. Third, the hitherto conducted clinical studies that examined different approaches of initiating endogenous myocardial regeneration in failing human hearts are analyzed. In conclusion, we present the evidence in support of the notion that regaining cardiac function beyond cellular replacement of dysfunctional myocardium via initiation of innate regenerative pathways could create a new perspective and a paradigm change in heart failure therapeutics. Reinitiating cardiac morphogenesis by reintroducing developmental pathways in the adult failing heart might provide a feasible way of tissue regeneration. Based on our hypothesis "embryonic recall", we present first supporting evidence on regenerative impulses in the myocardium, as induced by developmental processes.

An Application of the Shark Skin Denticle Geometry for Windbreak Fence Design and Fabrication

Windbreak fences in open and urban areas can be used to effectively reduce the wind velocity. In this paper we examine how the geometrical shape of the windbreak fence can optimally mitigate wind velocity. We propose an approach for windbreak fence design based on a bionic parametric model of the shark skin denticle geometry, which improves the reduction of the wind velocity around and behind the windbreak fences. The generative model was used to estimate improvements by variations in the parameters of the fence panel＇s geometrical shape, inspired by shark skin denticles. The results of the Computational Fluid Dynamics （CFD） analysis indicates that the fence surface inspired by shark skin performs much better than both flat and cor- rugated surfaces. Taking into account the complex geometry of the surface inspired by shark skin denticles, we propose a fab- rication process using an expanded polystyrene foam （EPS） material, created using an industrial robot arm with a hot-wire tool. Creating EPS moulds for the shark skin denticle panels allows for a richer variety material to be used in the final design, leading both to higher efficiency and a more attractive design.

Supervised fault diagnosis typically assumes that all the types of machinery failures are ***,in practice unknown types of defect,i.e.,novelties,may occur,whose detection is a challenging *** this paper,a novel fault diagnostic method is developed for both diagnostics and detection of *** this end,a sparse autoencoder-based multi-head Deep Neural Network(DNN)is presented to jointly learn a shared encoding representation for both unsupervised reconstruction and supervised classification of the monitoring *** detection of novelties is based on the reconstruction ***,the computational burden is reduced by directly training the multi-head DNN with rectified linear unit activation function,instead of performing the pre-training and fine-tuning phases required for classical *** addressed method is applied to a benchmark bearing case study and to experimental data acquired from a delta 3D *** results show that its performance is satisfactory both in detection of novelties and fault diagnosis,outperforming other state-of-the-art *** research proposes a novel fault diagnostics method which can not only diagnose the known type of defect,but also detect unknown types of defects.
