In Côte d’Ivoire, the recurring and unregulated use of bushfires, which cause ecological damage, presents a pressing concern for the custodians of protected areas. This study aims to enhance our comprehension of the dynamics of burnt areas within the Abokouamékro Wildlife Reserve (AWR) by employing the analysis of spectral indices derived from satellite imagery. The research methodology began with the calculation of mean indices and their corresponding spectral sub-indices, including NDVI, SAVI, NDWI, NDMI, BAI, NBR, TCW, TCG, and TCB, utilizing data from the Sentinel-2A satellite image dated January 17, 2022. Subsequently, a fuzzy classification model was applied to these various indices and sub-indices, guided by the degree of membership α, with the goal of effectively distinguishing between burned and unburned areas. Following the classification, the accuracies of the classified indices and sub-indices were validated using the coordinates of 100 data points collected within the AWR through GPS technology. The results revealed that the overall accuracy of all indices and sub-indices declines as the degree of membership α decreases from 1 to 0. Among the mean spectral indices, NDVI-mean, SAVI-mean, NDMI-mean exhibited the highest overall accuracies, achieving 97%, 95%, and 90%, respectively. These results closely mirrored those obtained by sub-indices using band 8 (NDVI-B8, SAVI-B8, and NDMI-B8), which yield respective overall accuracies of 93%, 92%, and 89%. At a degree of membership α = 1, the estimated burned areas for the most effective indices encompassed 2144.38 hectares for NDVI-mean, 1932.14 hectares for mean SAVI-mean, and 4947.13 hectares for mean NDMI-mean. A prospective approach involving the amalgamation of these three indices could have the potential to yield improved outcomes. This study could be a substantial contribution to the discrimination of bushfires in Côte d’Ivoire.

This research work is related to soliton solutions considered as models that can describe the complex configuration of elementary particles from the study of the interactions of their fields. It is interested in the interaction of fields between two different elementary particles by expressing their physical properties. For that, we have obtained, exact static plane symmetric soliton-like solutions to the nonlinear equations of interacting electromagnetic and scalar fields taking into account the own gravitational field of elementary particles using the calibrated invariance function P(I). It has been proved that all solutions of the Einstein, nonlinear electromagnetic and scalar field equations are regular with the localized energy density. Moreover, the total charge of particles is finite and the total energy of the interaction fields is bounded. It have been emphasized the importance to the own gravitational field of elementary particles and the role of the nonlinearity of fields in the determination of these solutions. In flat space-time, soliton-like solutions exist but the total energy of the interaction fields is equal to zero. We have also shown that in the linear case, soliton-like solutions are absent.

Exploration of Potential Ore Deposits along the Cameroon Volcanic Line from Gravity and Magnetic Studies

A gravity and magnetic study has been carried out along the continental part of the Cameroon Volcanic Line (CVL), with the aim to explore the possibility of ore’s presence into the basement of this region. Different processing techniques have been applied, including the isostatic residual, the analytic signal and the Euler deconvolution to compute the Bouguer and magnetic anomalies. Following Euler solutions (result of Euler deconvolution) and the analytic signal results, four profiles crossing main structures on the isostatic residual have been used to enhance the structure of intrusions in the studied area. Despite the lack of constraints in the studied region, the results show that the basement is intruded by bodies of different density (2.57 g/cm3 to 2.87 g/cm3), different size and shape, with depths between 1 and 10 kilometers. These bodies have been interpreted as old rocks then as potential reservoirs of rare ores. In addition, volcanic rocks modeled have constituted potential reserves of other ores like graphite, sulfur, copper, iron.

Introduction: Nursing theory provides a systematic explanation and description of nursing phenomena. It is very important during nursing practice in healthcare facilities (HCFs) because it guides nurses on how to collect data, which data to collect, decide how to interpret the data through the perspective of the theorist, how to plan and implement care, how to make a change and how to evaluate the patient’s outcomes. This study aims to illustrate how nursing theory can be applied during the implementation of nursing care in HCFs of Burundi by orienting the nurses to understand its application during practice. Methods: A cross-sectional study design was used to assess the use of nursing theories in healthcare facilities. A purposive sampling method was used also to select 81 nurses working full and part by applying alain Bouchard’s formula and the questionnaire was used as the data collection instrument. Results: The current study had revealed a poor knowledge among the participants on the use of nursing theory in these two HCFs as for all variables, their average scores were almost 24.1% whilst those who had no notion related to nursing theory reach a percentage of 75.9%. Conclusion: The study findings were slightly poor as for all variables, they scored less than 40%. Therefore, the use of theories to guide their practice was highly recommended to enhance the patients’ outcomes based on the use of scientific-based experts which could result from continuous education.

Clinical Preceptor’s Role in the Development of Nursing Training Based on Professional and Competency Frameworks in Two Health Care Facilities of Bujumbura

Background: The aim of clinical preceptors is to support the development of expertise related to the preceptorship of groups of trainees among nurses in clinical settings by the acquisition and use of theoretical knowledge, know-how and know-that. The support of students remains a major problem in hospitals, because the requirements of the preceptors according to the standards are not considered. The lack of guidelines on nursing preceptorships, theoretical application based on the professional curriculum, and professional expertise were the main problems assessed in the two Health Care (HUCK, VNC) in this study. The purpose of this study is to assess the knowledge of nurses and learners during their preceptorship practices and to contribute to the direction of evidence-based preceptorship. Method: A descriptive cross-sectional study design was used in this study during the 3-month period. A sample of 121 nurses as well as 56 learners were selected from 381 nurses and 80 learners using alain Bouchard’s formula. A questionnaire developed according to the guidelines of Ernestine Wiedenbach’s theory of care, was distributed. The data were analyzed using the Microsoft Excel and the software program version 16 (SPSS-16). Results: The current study found that the majority of nurses do not know the importance of the clinical tutor. The results state that students experience clinical practice problems, thus clinical preceptorship is required. Nurses showed that there are different barriers often encountered during their practices. The overall nurse preceptorship process is not optimal and the average of 97.6% of nurses does not have expertise in coaching interns in clinical settings. Conclusion: Although that nurses have some experience at work, they express their weakness based on a low level of education, a lack of knowledge and trained professionals on the job, and clinical preceptorship guidelines.

The second(O2)observational campaign of gravitational waves(GWs)organized by the LIGO/Virgo Collaborations has led to several breakthroughs such as the detection of GW signals from merger systems involving black holes or neutrons *** O2,14 GW alerts were sent to the astronomical community with sky regions mostly covering over hundreds of square *** them,six were finally confirmed as real astrophysical *** 2013,a new set of ground-based robotic telescopes called Ground-based Wide Angle Camera system(GWAC)project and its pathfinder mini-GWAC has been developed to contribute to the various challenges of multi-messenger and time domain *** GWAC system is built up in the framework of the ground-segment system of the SVOM mission that will be devoted to the study of the multi-wavelength transient sky in the next *** O2,only the mini-GWAC telescope network was fully *** to the wide field of view and fast automatic follow-up capabilities of the mini-GWAC telescopes,they were adept to efficiently cover the sky localization areas of GW event *** this paper,we present the mini-GWAC pipeline we have set up to respond to GW alerts and we report our optical follow-up observations of eight GW alerts detected during the O2 *** observations provided the largest coverage of the GW localization areas with a short latency made by any optical *** found tens of optical transient candidates in our images,but none of those could be securely associated with any confirmed black hole-black hole merger *** on this first experience and the near future technical improvements of our network system,we will be more competitive in detecting the optical counterparts from some GW events that will be identified during the upcoming O3 run,especially those emerging from binary neutron star mergers.
