Spatio-temporal variation of trace elements distributed over surface water of Upper Ganga River Basin in Western Himalayan Region

The rivers draining from the Himalayan range distribute enormous amount of fresh water to the people living in downstream *** metals flowed with river water can lead to serious impact on ecological system and human ***,the documentation on trace elements of Himalayan rivers is inadequately *** current study deals with the spatial and temporal variability of the major and trace elements of Ganga river water in epirhithron,metarhithron and hyporhithron zone belonging to Himalayan *** samples from nineteen monitoring locations were collected in pre-monsoon(May-June),monsoon(AugustSeptember)and post-monsoon(December)seasons and subjected to be assessed for 20 elements(Ag,Al,Ba,Cd,Ca,Cr,Cu,Fe,Ga,K,Mn,Mg,Na,Ni,Pb,Sr,Th,U,Zn,and Zr)using ICP-OES(Inductively Coupled Plasma-Optical Emission Spectrometer).Different water pollution indexes such as HPI(Heavy Metal Pollution Index),MI(Metal Index)and PI(Pollution Index)were used to describe current water quality status at each monitoring station under particular classified ecological *** studied stations in hyporhithron zone had the value of Metal Index(MI>1),indicating threshold of ***,the highest values of HPI in hyporhithron zone correspond to poor water quality *** with poor water quality were also found to be contaminated as per the Pollution Index(PI),exhibiting high concentrations for element(Fe).However,the epirhithron and metarhithron zone in Himalayan segment showed excellent water quality mainly contributed from natural *** Analysis(CA)and Principal Component Analysis(PCA)were applied to identify the main influential sources for Ganga river water *** Kriging interpolation method was also applied to prepare spatial distribution map of computed indexes(HPI,MI,and PI).With the help of index of local Moran’s I(LMI),identified spatial clusters and spatial outliers revealed the elevated concentration of most elements in hyporhithr

Chemoprophylaxis in malaria:drugs,evidence of efficacy and costs

This review concentrates on different aspects of malaria chemoprophylaxis,namely drug combinations,resistance,impact of malaria prevention in pregnancy and cost effectiveness. A MEDLINE search was performed for all articles with the key word ’Malaria’ in the title field and ’Prophylaxis’ in any *** search was restricted to articles published in English within the last decade(1999-2009).Data sources included review articles published in core clinical journals,cohort studies,interventional studies,case control studies and cross sectional analyses. The mechanism of action,trial evidence of efficacy,side effects and geographical distribution of resistance is discussed for each prophylactic drug *** of prophylaxis in pregnancy and the cost considerations are discussed under two separate sub topics.

Charged current quasi-elastic scattering of vμoff^12C

In this work, we study charged current quasi-elastic scattering （QES） of vμ off nucleon and nucleus using a formalism based on the Llewellyn Smith （LS） model. Parameterizations by Galster et al. are used for electric and magnetic Sach＇s form factors of the nucleons. We use the Fermi gas model along with the Pauli suppression condition to take into account the nuclear effects in the anti-neutrino-nucleus QES. We calculate vμ-p and vμ-^12C charged current quasi-elastic scattering differential and total cross sections for different values of axial mass MA, and compare the results with data from the GGM, SKAT, BNL, NOMAD, MINERVA and MiniBooNE experiments. The present theoretical approach gives a good description of differential cross section data. The calculations with axial mass MA =0.979 and 1.05 GeV are compatible with data from most of the experiments.

Also, the green expedient synthesis of new 2,4-disubstituted thiazoles under grinding condition from phenacyl bromides and thiosemicarbazide derivatives in quantitative yields is reported.

Thermal history of a Late Mesoproterozoic paired metamorphic belt(?)during Rodinia assembly:New insight from medium-pressure granulites from the Aravalli-Delhi Mobile Belt, Northwestern India

In this study, we investigate the possible record of a Late Mesoproterozoic paired metamorphic belt in the Aravalli-Delhi Mobile Belt(ADMB), NW India using a suite of supracrustal and metaigneous granulites from the Pilwa-Chinwali granulite terrain at the north-western margin of the ADMB. Using metamorphic reaction textures, mineral chemistry, metamorphic reaction history, geothermobarometric computations and electron microprobe dating of monazite in 5 samples of pelitic granulite, leptynite gneiss, enderbite and charnockite, we have deduced a medium-pressure granulite facies metamorphism(P between 4.9 and 6.8 kbar, T> 760-815℃) along a heating-cooling, counterclockwise P-T path between 1.09 and 1.01 Ga. When collated with published metamorphic and chronological constraints and geological settings of the adjoining crustal domains of the ADMB, these findings provide new insights into the developments of two tectonic domains of contrasting thermal gradients at ca. 1.0 Ga, consistent with metamorphic transformations in tectonically thickened middle-lower crustal sections during continental collision to continental subduction and in the root zones of spatially adjacent island arc, as part of the Rodinia supercontinent assembly event.

Antioxidant potential and physicochemical properties of protein hydrolysates from body parts of North Atlantic sea cucumber(Cucumaria frondosa)

Protein hydrolysates were prepared from North Atlantic sea cucumber(Cucumaria frondosa)body wall(BW),and processing by-product flower(FL)and internal organs(IN).Sea cucumber proteins from these three tissues were hydrolysed with selected endopeptidases and *** enzymes used were Alcalase(A),and Corolase(C)as endopeptidases and Flavourzyme(F)with both endo-and exopeptidase *** were employed individually or in combination under controlled *** hydrolysates so prepared were subsequently analysed for their antioxidant potential and functionalities in food systems for the first *** treated with the combination of A and F exhibited the highest radical scavenging activity against DPPH and ABTS *** highest metal chelation activity was observed for samples hydrolysed with the combination of enzymes(C+F and A+F).All treatments inhibited beta-carotene bleaching in an oil-in-water emulsion and TBARS production in a meat model *** addition,sea cucumber protein hydrolysates were more than 75%soluble over a pH range of 2–*** proteins were also effective in enhancing water holding capacity in a meat model system compared to their untreated *** amino acids of sea cucumber protein hydrolysates had desirable profiles with glutamic acid as the predominant component in samples *** findings demonstrate the desirable functionalities of hydrolysates from North Atlantic sea cucumber and their potential for use as functional food ingredients.
