Objective: To identify the effect of dyslipidemia on auditory function detected by Pure Tone Audiometry. To check if dyslipidemia worsens the hearing level in ***: This was a comparative study where 120 subjects between the age group of 20 and 50 years underwent pure tone audiometry, lipid profile and blood sugars. Group 1 consisted of 30 subjects with type 2 diabetes and dyslipidemia; Group 2 had 30 subjects with isolated diabetes;Group 3 had 30 with isolated dyslipidemia and Group 4 included 30 normal subjects as ***: Significant hearing loss was seen only in the group with isolated diabetes(63%). The most common type of hearing loss was high frequency sensorineural hearing loss. When comparison was made between the combinations of different lipid profiles, no association was found to the level of ***: Diabetics are more prone to high frequency hearing loss. Altered lipid profile has no role in causing hearing loss.

Objective: Clinical symptoms of otitis media with effusion are rarely brought forward to the guardians of young children who the disease is most prevalent in. This often leads to poor scholastic performances and difficult social interactions. The objective of this study was to identify asymptomatic cases of otitis media with effusion present in individuals with adenoid hypertrophy. Material and Methods: In a cross sectional study advocated in Justice *** Hospital, Karnataka India we evaluated one hundred patients above the age of three from August 2016 to December 2017. Candidates who presented with an adenoid nasopharyngeal ratio of more than 0.5 were selected for the study. Individuals who complained of otological symptoms were not considered for the study. Patients cleared of other pathological otological conditions were underwent audiological evaluation with pure tone audiometry and tympanometry for evaluating the middle ear status and hearing loss. Results: The study showed a total of 36% of patients evaluated presented with asymptomatic otitis media with effusion. In candidates who presented with a bilateral B tympanogram, 40% had significant conductive hearing loss of more than 25dB. Conclusion: An objective test such as impedance audiometry in all patients with adenoid hypertrophy would aid in the diagnosis of fluid in the middle ear, so that timely intervention can be done and possible complications be averted.

Objective:To determine the diversity of microbiota associated with different breeding habitats of dengue vector mosquitoes Aedes(Ae.)aegypti and *** and to identify any parasitic,epibiont,pathogenic,competitive or predatory ***:Sampling was performed from a variety of breeding habitats using dipping,pipetting and siphoning *** in water samples were preserved using Rose Bengal solution and Lugol's iodine,and were *** samples of microbiota were kept under laboratory conditions to observe any pathogenic or parasitic microbiota interacting with ***:A total of eleven microbiota species(Canthocamptus staphylinus,Canthocamptus microstaphylinus,Parastenocaris brevipes,Lepadella ovalis,Lepadella patella,Rotatoria rotatoria,Rotatoria macrura,Asplanchna brightwelli,Trichocerca rattus,Euglena variabilis,and Flagilaria capucina)belonging to four(4)phyla(Arthropoda,Rotifera,Euglenozoa,and Ochrophyta)and 8 microbiota species belonged to four phyla(Arthropoda,Rotifera,Euglenozoa,and Ochrophyta)were identified from *** and *** breeding habitats *** was a higher percentage(54.54%)of larval habitats positive for the secondary vector *** than through the primary vector *** in the Gampola urban area indicating higher possibility of transmitting the dengue virus through the secondary ***,no pathogenic or parasitic ciliates on mosquito larvae were encountered in the present *** findings may be due to sampling maingly from temporary container-type breeding ***:The relative distribution of microbiota associated with mosquito species differed significantly among *** and *** overall findings of this study could help in implementing novel eco-friendly vector-control strategies in the study area.

Advances in the field of micro electro mechanical systems and their uses now offer unique opportunities in the design of ultrasensitive analytical tools. The analytical community continues to search for cost-effective, reliable, and even portable analytical techniques that can give reliable and fast response results for a variety of chemicals and biomolecules. Microcantilevers （MCLs） have emerged as a unique platform for label-free chem-sensor or bioassay. Several electronic designs, including piezoresistive, piezoelectric, and capacitive approaches, have been applied to measure the bending or frequency change of the MCLs upon exposure to chemicals. This review summarizes mechanical, fabrication, and electronics approaches to increase the sensitivity of MCL sensors.

Basin Geomorphology and Drainage Morphometry Parameters Used as Indicators for Groundwater Prospect: Insight from Geographical Information System(GIS) Technique

Influence of structural and lithological controls of various drainage patterns and their stream orientations（for 2nd, 3rd and 4th order steams） were identified to evaluate the direction and controlling factors of drainage network. To investigate the prospect of groundwater, hydrogeomorphological features of river basin viz. Mulki-Pavanje were identified and mapped. To evaluate the characteristics of the basin, different morphometric parameters（linear, areal and relief） were computed in sub-basin wise（SB-I to-VII）. The linear parameters suggest drainage network is controlled by geomorphology. The form factor（Ff）, elongation ratio（Re） and circularity ratio（Rc） suggest that the basin is in an elongated shape. The drainage density（Dd） indicates resistant/permeable strata under medium-dense vegetation with moderate relief. The areal parameters of the sub-basins（except SBI and Ⅲ） indicates moderate ground-slopes associated with moderately permeable rocks, which promote moderate run-off and infiltration. Drainage texture（T） of the whole basin indicates coarse texture while the SB-I, and Ⅲ showing an intermediate texture. The relief parameters namely ruggedness number（Rn） infers low basin relief and poor drainage density. To identify the most deficit/surplus zones of groundwater suitable weightages were assigned to the hydrogeomorphological units and morphometric parameters. The study reveal that the basin manifest that SB-Ⅲ shall be most deficit zone of groundwater, whereas SB-VII, VI and V are found to show increase in groundwater potentiality. Groundwater prospect area in this basin is estimated to be 7% area under poor, 44% area under moderate and 49% area under good to excellent. This paper demonstrated the potential application of geographical information system（GIS） techniques to evaluate the groundwater prospect in absence of traditional groundwater monitoring data.

With the increasing popularity of high-resolution remote sensing images,the remote sensing image retrieval(RSIR)has always been a topic of major issue.A combined,global non-subsampled shearlet transform(NSST)-domain statistical features(NSSTds)and local three dimensional local ternary pattern(3D-LTP)features,is proposed for high-resolution remote sensing *** model the NSST image coefficients of detail subbands using 2-state laplacian mixture(LM)distribution and its three parameters are estimated using Expectation-Maximization(EM)*** also calculate the statistical parameters such as subband kurtosis and skewness from detail subbands along with mean and standard deviation calculated from approximation subband,and concatenate all of them with the 2-state LM parameters to describe the global features of the *** various properties of NSST such as multiscale,localization and flexible directional sensitivity make it a suitable choice to provide an effective approximation of an *** order to extract the dense local features,a new 3D-LTP is proposed where dimension reduction is performed via selection of‘uniform’*** 3D-LTP is calculated from spatial RGB planes of the input *** proposed inter-channel 3D-LTP not only exploits the local texture information but the color information is captured ***,a fused feature representation(NSSTds-3DLTP)is proposed using new global(NSSTds)and local(3D-LTP)features to enhance the discriminativeness of *** retrieval performance of proposed NSSTds-3DLTP features are tested on three challenging remote sensing image datasets such as WHU-RS19,Aerial Image Dataset(AID)and PatternNet in terms of mean average precision(MAP),average normalized modified retrieval rank(ANMRR)and precision-recall(P-R)*** experimental results are encouraging and the NSSTds-3DLTP features leads to superior retrieval performance compared to many well known existing descriptors such as Gabor RGB,Granulometry,loc

AIM:To investigate the aldose reductase(AR)inhibition capacity of astragalin(AST)against streptozoticin-induced diabetic cataracts(DCs)in ***:Ex vivo investigations were conducted by treating the lens of a goat placed for 72h in artificial aqueous humor(AAH)of pH 7.8 at room temperature with cataract-causing substance(55 mmol/L of galactose)and in vivo studies were performed on rats via induction with *** was administered at different dose levels and scrutinize for DC ***:In diabetic rats,AST improved the body weight,blood insulin,and glucose as well as the levels of galactitol in a dose-dependent way,other biochemical parameters *** mediators and cytokines,and also suppress AR *** level of the antioxidant parameters such as superoxide dismutase(SOD),catalase(CAT),and glutathione(GSH)activity were also altered on a diabetic lens after the administration of the ***:AST protects against lens opacification to avoid cataracts and polyols formation,indicating that it could be used as a potential therapeutic agent for diabetes.
