The COVID-19 outbreak initiated from the Chinese city of Wuhanand eventually affected almost every nation around the globe. From China,the disease started spreading to the rest of the world. After China, Italybecame the next epicentre of the virus and witnessed a very high death *** nations like the USA became severely hit by SARS-CoV-2 virus. TheWorld Health Organisation, on 11th March 2020, declared COVID-19 a pandemic. To combat the epidemic, the nations from every corner of the worldhas instituted various policies like physical distancing, isolation of infectedpopulation and researching on the potential vaccine of SARS-CoV-2. Toidentify the impact of various policies implemented by the affected countrieson the pandemic spread, a myriad of AI-based models have been presented toanalyse and predict the epidemiological trends of COVID-19. In this work, theauthors present a detailed study of different articial intelligence frameworksapplied for predictive analysis of COVID-19 patient record. The forecastingmodels acquire information from records to detect the pandemic spreadingand thus enabling an opportunity to take immediate actions to reduce thespread of the virus. This paper addresses the research issues and correspondingsolutions associated with the prediction and detection of infectious diseaseslike COVID-19. It further focuses on the study of vaccinations to cope withthe pandemic. Finally, the research challenges in terms of data availability,reliability, the accuracy of the existing prediction models and other open issuesare discussed to outline the future course of this study.

Nonlinear Behaviour of Coflexip Risers

A modified Newton-Raphson iterative technique is formulated for obtaining the static configuration of the Lazy 'S' flexible marine riser between the floater and mid-arch buoy under its submerged self weight and the applied top tension. The geometrically non-linear problem is solved by finite difference with the above technique. The problem is formulated as a regular boundary value problem with specified moments and deflections at both ends. Usually the bending stiffness of the flexible riser made of Coflexip pipe is very low. By use of the above analysis, several flexible riser configurations are analyzed and their characteristic behaviors are investigated. Also, changes in the riser characteristics due to quasi-static motion of the floater end are estimated for the safety of the riser layout.

The behaviour of marine risers is investigated under the forces produced by selfweight, wave and current and quasistatic motion of the top vessel. The parameters include the applied tension, geometric nonlinearity, magnitude of surge, heave and pitch motion of the top vessel and wave height. The study shows that the above parameters have considerable influence on the riser response.

NONLINEAR COUPLED RESPONSE OF TENSION LEG PLATFORM

A dynamic response analysis of tension leg platform (TLP) to deterministic first order wave forces is presented, considering coupling between various degrees of freedom surge, sway, heave, pitch, roll and yaw. The analysis duly considers nonlinearities produced due to changes in cable-tension and due to nonlinear hydro-dynamic drag forces. The wave forces on the elements of the pontoon structure are calculated using Airy's wave theory and Morison's equation. The nonlinear equation of motion is solved in the time domain by Newmark's β-method. With the help of proposed analysis, some example problems are solved in order to investigate the effects of different important factors that influence the response of TLP.

RNAi-Mediated Silencing of ITPk Gene Reduces Phytic Acid Content,Alters Transcripts of Phytic Acid Biosynthetic Genes,and Modulates Mineral Distribution in Rice Seeds

Phytic acid is the principal storage form of phosphorus in plant seeds and an essential signalling molecule in several regulatory processes of plant ***,it is known as an anti-nutrient compound owing to its potent chelating ***,reducing the phytic acid content in crops is *** involving regulation of MIPS and IPk1 genes to generate low phytate rice have been reported ***,the functional significance of OsITPk and the effect of its down-regulation on phytic acid content and the associated pleiotropic effects on rice have not yet been *** this study,tissue specific RNA interference(RNAi)-mediated down-regulation of a major ITPk homolog(OsITP5/6k-1)resulted in 46.2%decrease in phytic acid content of T2 transgenic seeds with a subsequent 3-fold enhancement in the inorganic phosphorus *** of OsITP5/6k-1 altered the transcript levels of essential phytic acid pathway genes,without significantly affecting the transcript levels of other OsITPk ***,the mapping of elements through X-ray microfluorescence analysis revealed significant changes in the spatial distribution pattern and translocation of elements in low phytate ***,low phytate polished seeds exhibited 1.3-fold and 1.6-fold enhancement in iron and zinc content in the grain endosperm,*** of OsITP5/6k-1 also altered the amino acid and myo-inositol content of the transgenic *** results successfully established that RNAi-mediated silencing of OsITP5/6k-1 gene significantly reduced the phytate levels in seeds without hampering the germination potential of seeds and plant *** present study provided an insight into the mechanism of phytic acid biosynthesis pathway.

Pack Aluminide Coatings Formed at 650℃ for Enhancing Oxidation Resistance of Low Alloy Steels

This study aims to investigate the feasibility of forming iron aluminide coatings on a commercial 9Cr-lMo (wt.%) alloy steel by pack cementation at 650 °C in an attempt to improve its high temperature oxidation resistance. Pack powders containing Al, A12O3 and a series of halide salts were used to carry out the coating deposition experiments, which enabled identification of the most suitable activator for the pack aluminising process at the intended temperature. The effect of pack aluminium content on the growth kinetics and microstructure of the coatings was then studied by keeping deposition conditions and pack activator content constant while increasing the pack aluminium content from 1.4 wt.% to 6 wt.%. X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) techniques were used to analyse the phases and microstructures of the coatings formed and to determine depth profiles of coating elements in the coating layer. Oxidation resistance of the coating was studied at 650 °C in air by intermittent weight measurement at room temperature. It was observed that the coating could substantially enhance the oxidation resistance of the steel under these testing conditions, which was attributed to the capability of the iron aluminide phases to form alumina scale on the coating surface through preferential Al oxidation.

Optical characterization of nano-sized organic carbon particles emitted from a small gasoline engine

The nano-sized organic carbon （NOC） particles emitted from a small gasoline engine were characterized using various ex situ optical techniques to assess their hazardous impact. The exhaust gas was sampled iso-kinetically by a quartz probe and passed through de-ionized water to gather the hydrophilic car- bonaceous particulates as hydrosol. The hydrodynamic diameter of the particles ranged between 1.7 and 3.6 nm at no load, with a mean diameter of 2.4 nm. The particle size in the engine exhaust was found to increase at higher loads, which is attributed to coagulation of the particles. The chemical structure of the particles was analyzed using UV-vis and infra-red spectroscopy. Both the band gap energy and oscillator strength data evaluated from the UV-vis absorbance showed that the NOC particles contained polyaromatic hydrocarbon structures with three to five aromatic rings. Infra-red spectroscopy analysis further confirmed the presence of aliphatic and carbonyl functionalities in the aromatic structures of the particles. The fine size of the particles, their high number concentration for the type of the engine under study and their structural features, make the particles extremely hazardous for environment and health.

AIM: To study the mechanism of antimigraine activity of Tanacetum parthenium ( Feverfew), its extracts and parthenolide, a component of Feverfew, by observing their effect on 5-HT storage and release, and stimulation of 5-HT2B and 5-HT2A receptors. Also to standardize a dosage form of Feverfew with respect to its parthenolide content. METHODS: Isometric responses to 5-HT and an indirect acting serotonergic, d-fenfluramine, were obtained on rat fundus and ileum. In one set of experiments the effect of dichloromethane extract of Feverfew and parthenolide was observed on the above. The extract was then thermally degraded upto 10 %, 23 %, and 33 % with respect to its parthenolide content by keeping at 60℃ and 75 % relative humidity and the experiments were repeated. In another set of experiments rats were fed with 20 mg/kg Feverfew powder (equivalent to a human dose of 500 μg parthenolide per day) for 30 d or were ip injected with parthenolide (23.4 μg/day) for 7 d. Application of pressure-state-response approach for developing criteria and indicators of ecological health assessment of wetlands:a multi-temporal study in Ichhamati floodplains,India

Background Tropical floodplain wetlands are among the most disturbed and intensively harvested *** sustainable management is often hindered due to the lack of comprehensive,coherent,and standardized assessment frameworks of wetland ecological health(WEH).In this study,a set of appropriate criteria and indicators(C&I)of WEH assessment was developed and tested on seven wetlands of River Ichhamati,eastern *** Based on the pressure-state-response(PSR)approach,evaluation indicators representing ecological,socio-economic,and institutional sustainability issues of floodplain wetland systems were either selected or formulated through literature survey and stakeholder *** of indicators were assigned by the entropy weighting method and then used in the Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution model to determine the Euclidean distances of each wetland from the positive ideal solution and negative ideal ***,a comprehensive wetland ecological health index(CWEHI)was constructed from these distances to portray the condition of any PSR system component in a wetland under a fivefold classification scheme,namely‘excellent health’(CWEHI≥0.81),‘good health’(0.61-0.80),‘moderate health’(0.41-0.60),‘weak health’(0.21-0.40),and‘morbid’(≤0.20).Results The developed C&I set contains 8 criteria and 38 indicators under pressure component,7 criteria and 49 indicators under state component,as well as 4 criteria and 18 indicators under response *** applied in 2016 and 2022,it was found that the Panchita and Aromdanga wetlands were continuously in weak and morbid health status,while the Madhabpur wetland always showed an excellent or good status for all *** of other wetlands oscillated between moderate and morbid health across assessment years and system *** The developed C&I set was found to be a flexible,holistic,and refined framework that could be applied elsewhere in sim

Modeling of hydrodynamics in a bubbling fluidized-bed gasifier and evaluation of the inter-phase gas exchange rate under different operating conditions

A fluid dynamic model of a bubbling fluidized-bed coal gasifier is presented considering two-phase theory of fluidization. The effects of the gasifier temperature and bed particle size on the hydrodynamic char- acteristics of both the bubble and emulsion phases of the gasifier bed are studied. The bubble diameter, bubble velocity, and bubble area fraction are evaluated for the bubble phase, whereas the gas velocity and porosity are studied for the emulsion phase, along the height of the bed. Finally, the rate of inter-phase gas exchange from the emulsion phase to bubble phase is calculated under different operating conditions.
