The COVID-19 outbreak initiated from the Chinese city of Wuhanand eventually affected almost every nation around the globe. From China,the disease started spreading to the rest of the world. After China, Italybecame the next epicentre of the virus and witnessed a very high death *** nations like the USA became severely hit by SARS-CoV-2 virus. TheWorld Health Organisation, on 11th March 2020, declared COVID-19 a pandemic. To combat the epidemic, the nations from every corner of the worldhas instituted various policies like physical distancing, isolation of infectedpopulation and researching on the potential vaccine of SARS-CoV-2. Toidentify the impact of various policies implemented by the affected countrieson the pandemic spread, a myriad of AI-based models have been presented toanalyse and predict the epidemiological trends of COVID-19. In this work, theauthors present a detailed study of different articial intelligence frameworksapplied for predictive analysis of COVID-19 patient record. The forecastingmodels acquire information from records to detect the pandemic spreadingand thus enabling an opportunity to take immediate actions to reduce thespread of the virus. This paper addresses the research issues and correspondingsolutions associated with the prediction and detection of infectious diseaseslike COVID-19. It further focuses on the study of vaccinations to cope withthe pandemic. Finally, the research challenges in terms of data availability,reliability, the accuracy of the existing prediction models and other open issuesare discussed to outline the future course of this study.

Design optimization of first wall and breeder unit module size for the Indian HCCB blanket module

The Indian test blanket module（TBM） program in ITER is one of the major steps in the Indian fusion reactor program for carrying out the R＆D activities in the critical areas like design of tritium breeding blankets relevant to future Indian fusion devices（ITER relevant and DEMO）.The Indian Lead–Lithium Cooled Ceramic Breeder（LLCB） blanket concept is one of the Indian DEMO relevant TBM,to be tested in ITER as a part of the TBM ***-Cooled Ceramic Breeder（HCCB） is an alternative blanket concept that consists of lithium titanate（Li_2TiO_3） as ceramic breeder（CB） material in the form of packed pebble beds and beryllium as the neutron ***,attentions are given to the optimization of first wall coolant channel design and size of breeder unit module considering coolant pressure and thermal loads for the proposed Indian HCCB blanket based on ITER relevant TBM and loading *** analyses will help proceeding further in designing blankets for loads relevant to the future fusion device.

Neutronic analysis of Indian helium-cooled solid breeder tritium breeding module for testing in ITER

India has proposed the helium-cooled solid breeder blanket concept as a tritium breeding module to be tested in *** module has lithium titanate for tritium breeding and beryllium for neutron *** also enhances tritium breeding.A design for the module is prepared for detailed *** analysis is performed to assess the tritium breeding rate,neutron distribution,and heat distribution in the *** tritium production distribution in submodules is evaluated to support the tritium transport *** tritium breeding density in the radial direction of the module is also assessed for further optimization of the *** heat deposition profile of the entire module is generated to support the heat removal circuit *** estimated neutron spectrum in the radial direction also provides a more in-depth picture of the nuclear interactions inside the material *** total tritium produced in the HCSB module is around 13.87 mg per full day of operation of ITER,considering the 400 s ON time and 1400 s dwell *** estimated nuclear heat load on the entire module is around 474 kW,which will be removed by the high-pressure helium cooling *** heat deposition in the test blanket model(TBM)is huge(around 9 GJ)for an entire day of operation of ITER,which demonstrates the scale of power that can be produced through a fusion reactor *** per the Brayton cycle,it is equivalent to 3.6 GJ of electrical *** terms of power production,this would be around 1655 MWh *** evaluation is carried out using the MCNP5 Monte Carlo radiation transport code and FEDNL 2.1 nuclear cross section *** HCSB TBM neutronic performance demonstrates the tritium production capability and high heat deposition.

Extent of mismatch between the period of circadian clocks and light/dark cycles determines time-to-emergence in fruit flies

Circadian clocks time developmental stages of fruit flies Drosophila melanogaster, while light/dark （LD） cycles delimit emergence of adults, conceding only during the ＂allowed gate.＂ Previous studies have revealed that time-to-emergence can be altered by mutations in the core clock gene period （per）, or by altering the length of LD cycles. Since this evidence came from studies on genetically manipulated flies, or on flies maintained under LD cycles with limited range of periods, inferences that can be drawn are limited. Moreover, the extent of shortening or lengthening of time-to-emergence re- mains yet unknown. In order to pursue this further, we assayed time-to-emergence of D. rnelanogaster under 12 different LD cycles as well as in constant light （LL） and constant dark conditions （DD）. Time-to-emergence in flies occurred earlier under LL than in LD cycles and DD. Among the LD cycles, time-to-emergence occurred earlier under T4-T8, followed by T36-T48, and then T12-T32, suggesting that egg-to-emergence duration in flies becomes shorter when the length of LD cycles deviates from 24 h, bearing a strong positive and a marginally negative correlation with day length, for values shorter and longer than 24 h, respectively. These results suggest that the extent of mismatch between the period of circadian clocks and environmental cycles determines the time-to-emergence in Drosophila.

Spatio-temporal variation of trace elements distributed over surface water of Upper Ganga River Basin in Western Himalayan Region

The rivers draining from the Himalayan range distribute enormous amount of fresh water to the people living in downstream *** metals flowed with river water can lead to serious impact on ecological system and human ***,the documentation on trace elements of Himalayan rivers is inadequately *** current study deals with the spatial and temporal variability of the major and trace elements of Ganga river water in epirhithron,metarhithron and hyporhithron zone belonging to Himalayan *** samples from nineteen monitoring locations were collected in pre-monsoon(May-June),monsoon(AugustSeptember)and post-monsoon(December)seasons and subjected to be assessed for 20 elements(Ag,Al,Ba,Cd,Ca,Cr,Cu,Fe,Ga,K,Mn,Mg,Na,Ni,Pb,Sr,Th,U,Zn,and Zr)using ICP-OES(Inductively Coupled Plasma-Optical Emission Spectrometer).Different water pollution indexes such as HPI(Heavy Metal Pollution Index),MI(Metal Index)and PI(Pollution Index)were used to describe current water quality status at each monitoring station under particular classified ecological *** studied stations in hyporhithron zone had the value of Metal Index(MI>1),indicating threshold of ***,the highest values of HPI in hyporhithron zone correspond to poor water quality *** with poor water quality were also found to be contaminated as per the Pollution Index(PI),exhibiting high concentrations for element(Fe).However,the epirhithron and metarhithron zone in Himalayan segment showed excellent water quality mainly contributed from natural *** Analysis(CA)and Principal Component Analysis(PCA)were applied to identify the main influential sources for Ganga river water *** Kriging interpolation method was also applied to prepare spatial distribution map of computed indexes(HPI,MI,and PI).With the help of index of local Moran’s I(LMI),identified spatial clusters and spatial outliers revealed the elevated concentration of most elements in hyporhithr

Predicting suitability of different scale-dependent dispersivities for reactive solute transport through stratified porous media

In this paper,the behavior of breakthrough curves(BTCs) for reactive solute transport through stratified porous media is investigated.A physical laboratory model for layered porous media was constructed,in which thin layer of gravel was sandwiched in between two thick layers of natural *** layer and natural soil layers were hydraulically connected as single porous continuum.A constant source of tracer was connected through gravel layer and elucidated at different sampling points in the direction of *** multiprocess non-equilibrium(MPNE) transport equation with scale-dependent dispersivity function was used to simulate experimental BTCs of reactive solute transport through layered porous *** values of equilibrium sorption coefficient and other input parameters were obtained *** simulation of BTC was performed using MPNE model with scale-dependent *** simulation of different scale-dependent dispersivities was then compared and it was found that for field scale of estimation of dispersivity,asymptotic and exponential dispersivity functions performed *** continuation to the comparison of simulated BTCs obtained using different models,spatial moment analysis of each aforesaid scale-dependent dispersivity model was also *** moment analysis provides the information related to mean solute mass,rate of mass travel,and mean plume *** and constant dispersivities showed higher variance as compared to asymptotic and exponential dispersion *** supports the field applicability of asymptotic and exponential dispersivity *** BTCs were also found to elucidate a nonzero concentration with time,which was clearly affected by physical *** natural condition,such information is required in effective aquifer remediation process.

Ce-Co-doped BiFeO_3 multiferroic for optoelectronic and photovoltaic applications

The Ce-Co-doped BiFeO3 multiferroic, Bi（1-x）Ce）xFe（1-x）CoxO3（x = 0.00, 0.01, 0.03, and 0.05）, has been prepared by a sol-gel auto-combustion method and analyzed through Raman spectroscopy, photoluminescence, and UV-visible spectroscopy. We have observed an anomalous intensity of the second-order Raman mode at - 1260 cm^-1 in pure BFO and suppressed intensity in doped samples, which indicates the presence of spin two-phonon coupling in these *** photoluminescence spectra show reduction in the intensity of emission with the increasing dopant concentration, which indicates the high charge separation efficiency. A sharp absorption with three charge transfer（C-T） and two d-d transitions are shown by UV-visible spectra in the visible region. The band gap of BiFeO3（BFO） is decreasing with increasing dopant concentrations and the materials are suitable for photovoltaic applications.

Performance evaluation of cement-stabilized pond ash-rice husk ashclay mixture as a highway construction material

This paper reports the results of an investigation carried out on clay soil stabilized with pond ash(PA),rice husk ash(RHA) and cement. Modified Proctor compaction tests were performed in order to investigate the compaction behavior of clay, and California bearing ratio(CBR) tests were performed to determine the strength characteristics of clay. For evaluation purpose, the specimens containing different amounts of admixtures were prepared. Clay was replaced with PA and RHA at a dosage of 30%e45% and5%e20%, respectively. The influence of stabilizer types and dosages on mechanical properties of clay was evaluated. In order to study the surface morphology and crystallization characteristics of the soil samples, scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and X-ray diffraction(XRD) analyses were carried out,respectively. The results obtained indicated a decrease in the maximum dry density(MDD) and a simultaneous increase in the optimum moisture content(OMC) with the addition of PA and *** linear regression analysis(MLRA) showed that the predicted values of CBR tests are in good agreement with the experimental values. Developed stabilized soil mixtures showed satisfactory strength and can be used for construction of embankments and stabilization of sub-grade soil. The use of locally available soils, PA, RHA, and cement in the production of stabilized soils for such applications can provide sustainability for the local construction industry.
