Unscented Kalman filter for a low-cost GNSS/IMU-based mobile mapping application under demanding conditions

For the last two decades,low-cost Global Navigation Satellite System(GNSS)receivers have been used in various *** receivers are mini-size,less expensive than geodetic-grade receivers,and in high *** of these outstanding features,low-cost GNSS receivers are potentially poorer hardwares with internal signal processing,resulting in lower *** typically come with low-cost GNSS antenna that has lower performance than their counterparts,particularly for multipath ***,this research evaluated the low-cost GNSS device performance using a high-rate kinematic *** this purpose,these receivers were assembled with an Inertial Measurement Unit(IMU)sensor,which actively transmited data on acceleration and orientation rate during the *** position and navigation parameter data were obtained from the IMU readings,even without GNSS signals via the U-blox F9R GNSS/IMU device mounted on a *** research was conducted in an area with demanding conditions,such as an open sky area,an urban environment,and a shopping mall basement,to examine the device’s *** data were processed by two approaches:the Single Point Positioning-IMU(SPP/IMU)and the Differential GNSS-IMU(DGNSS/IMU).The Unscented Kalman Filter(UKF)was selected as a filtering algorithm due to its excellent performance in handling nonlinear system *** result showed that integrating GNSS/IMU in SPP processing mode could increase the accuracy in eastward and northward components up to 68.28%and 66.64%.Integration of DGNSS/IMU increased the accuracy in eastward and northward components to 93.02%and 93.03%compared to the positioning of standalone *** addition,the positioning accuracy can be improved by reducing the IMU noise using low-pass and high-pass *** application could still not gain the expected position accuracy under signal outage conditions.

Identifying thermal bridges on building façades has been a great challenge for architects,especially during the conceptual design *** is not only due to the complexity of parameters when calculating thermal bridges,but also lack of feature integration between building energy simulation(BES)tools and the actual building *** example,existing BES tools predominantly calculate thermal bridges only in steady state without considering the temperature dynamic behaviour of building ***,relevant features such as thermal delay,decrement factor,and operative temperature are often neglected,and this can lead to miscalculation of energy *** study then proposes an integrated method to calculate dynamic thermal bridges under transient conditions by incorporating field observations and computational simulations of thermal *** specifically,the proposed method employs several measurement tools such as HOBO data logger to record the actual conditions of indoor and outdoor room temperature and thermal cameras to identify the surface temperature of selected building *** actual datasets are then integrated with the simulation workflow developed in BES *** study ultimately enables architects not only to identify potential thermal bridges on existing building façades but also to support material and geometric exploration in early design phase.

Mount Semeru,an active volcano in East Java,Indonesia,erupted on December 4,2021,following extreme rainfall that caused an avalanche of hot pyroclastic flows and *** tropospheric conditions and dominant particle components in the atmosphere can be monitored using Global Navigation Satellite System(GNSS)technology and remote sensing *** signal propagation delay in Precise Point Positioning(PPP)processing can be used to determine Zenith Tropospheric Delay(ZTD)and Precipitable Water Vapor(PWV)variables so that atmospheric conditions can be *** addition,by using remote sensing satellite data,it is possible to obtain rainfall data with high temporal resolution as well as the dominant particle and gas content values during *** the eruption period,the high value of PWV was dominated by the high intensity of precipitation during the rainy *** rainfall before the eruption caused activity inside the mountain to increase,which occurred in avalanche type *** from that,the atmosphere around Semeru was also dominated by SO_(2)content,which spreaded for tens of ***_(2)content began to be detected significantly by remote sensing sensors on December 7,*** this study,deformation and atmospheric monitoring were also carried out using low-cost GNSS at the Semeru Monitoring Station on September 9-15,*** results of the ZTD and ZWD values show the dominance of the wet component,which is directly proportional to rainfall activity in this period.

The effects of nanobubble on the growth environment,such as dissolved oxygen(DO)and total virus-bacteria,and growth performance,such as growth,feed conversion ratio(FCR),survival rate(SR),total harvest,and productivity,were investigated in Penaeus vannamei shrimp *** present study was carried out in 50 m2 indoor raceway ponds for 81 days with stocking density being set to 680 shrimp m􀀀3 in two types of treatment:nanobubble and diffuser aerator.A paddlewheel was used to distribute the oxygen saturation levels throughout the *** presence of nanoparticles was detected using a dynamic light scattering method and was reported to be 82.38 nm in size and􀀀26 mV for zeta potential *** was significantly higher under nanobubble *** virus-bacteria and FCR decreased,whereas SR,growth(weight and length),total harvest,and productivity increased with increasing *** SR was reported to reach 95%.The average weight and length of *** were 15.1±1.8 g and 13.1±1.1 cm,*** total harvest and productivity have doubled to 436 kg and 8.7 kg/*** results revealed that nanobubble has managed to maintain DO at the optimal range and affected the shrimp growth significantly(P<0.05).

The Unmanned Surface Vehicle(USV)navigation system needs an accurate,firm,and reliable performance to avoid obstacles,as well as carry out automatic movements during *** Global Positioning System(GPS)is often used in these systems to provide absolute position ***,the GPS measurements are affected by external conditions such as atmospheric bias and multipath *** leads to the inability of the stand-alone GPS to provide accurate positioning for the USV *** of the solutions to correct the errors of this sensor is by conducting GPS and Inertial Measurement Unit(IMU)*** IMU sensor is complementary to the GPS and not affected by external ***,it accumulates noise as time ***,this study aims to determine the fusion of the GPS and IMU sensors for the i-Boat navigation system,which is a USV developed by Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember(ITS)*** the Unscented Kalman filter(UKF),sensor fusion was carried out based on the state equation defined by the dynamic and kinematic mathematical model of ship motion in 6 degrees of *** the performance of this model was tested through several simulations using different combinations of attitude measurement *** scenarios were conducted in the simulations:attitude measurement inclusion and exclusion(Scenarios I and II,respectively).The results showed that the position estimation in Scenario II was better than in Scenario I,with the Root Mean Square Error(RMSE)value of 0.062 *** simulations showed that the presence of attitude measurement data caused a decrease in the fusion *** UKF simulation with eight measurement parameters(Scenarios A,B and C)and seven measurement parameters(Scenarios D,E and F),as well as analytical attitude movement,indicated that yaw data had the largest noise accumulation compared to roll and pitch.

COCKPIT-PLUS:A proposed method for rapid groundwater vulnerability-driven land use zoning in tropical cockpit karst areas

Karst groundwater is highly vulnerable to contamination,which urges better land use *** paper proposes a new approach,called COCKPIT-PLUS,to minimize groundwater contamination within cockpit karst *** method employed four parameters:P(the existence of ponor/swallow hole),L(lineament density),U(sinking stream to an underground river),and S(distance to spring/pumping site).These parameters are essential for identifying contaminant pathways and transport from the surface to the karst groundwater/***-PLUS has been developed and validated in the Gunungsewu karst in Java,*** research considers a cockpit as a single hydrological unit that uniquely recharges karst *** analyzed 2,811 cockpits and 81 other closed depressions to develop a land use planning *** research used the time to first arrival(Ta),time to peak(Tp),and Q_(max/min)ratio parameters of two karst springs and two underground pumping sites for *** with ponors/swallow holes,sinking streams,high lineament density,and short distances to springs are vulnerable to groundwater and thus must be restricted areas for any land *** findings show that though the COCKPIT-PLUS uses a limited karst dataset,the proposed method seems reliable enough for a rapid land-use zoning approach in cockpit karst areas.

Suction-based Grasp Point Estimation in Cluttered Environment for Robotic Manipulator Using Deep Learning-based Affordance Map

Perception and manipulation tasks for robotic manipulators involving highly-cluttered objects have become increasingly indemand for achieving a more efficient problem solving method in modern industrial ***,most of the available methods for performing such cluttered tasks failed in terms of performance,mainly due to inability to adapt to the change of the environment and the handled ***,we propose a new,near real-time approach to suction-based grasp point estimation in a highly cluttered environment by employing an affordance-based *** to the state-of-the-art,our proposed method offers two distinctive ***,we use a modified deep neural network backbone for the input of the semantic segmentation,to classify pixel elements of the input red,green,blue and depth(RGBD)channel image which is then used to produce an affordance map,a pixel-wise probability map representing the probability of a successful grasping action in those particular pixel ***,we incorporate a high speed semantic segmentation to the system,which makes our solution have a lower computational *** approach does not need to have any prior knowledge or models of the objects since it removes the step of pose estimation and object recognition entirely compared to most of the current approaches and uses an assumption to grasp first then recognize later,which makes it possible to have an object-agnostic *** system was designed to be used for household objects,but it can be easily extended to any kind of objects provided that the right dataset is used for training the *** results show the benefit of our approach which achieves a precision of 88.83%,compared to the 83.4%precision of the current state-of-the-art.

Hanjeli(Coix lacryma-jobi L.)and moringa leaf(Moringa oleifera)remain underutilised despite their high nutritional value for *** the present research,cookies made from hanjeli(Coix lacryma-jobi L.)with moringa leaf flour(Moringa oleifera)have been *** cookies were measured for nutritional composition and shelf life *** shelf life evaluation of hanjeli-moringa cookies was calculated using two approaches,which were accelerated shelf life testing(ASLT)methods with critical moisture content and the Arrhenius *** results of the nutritional composition analysis showed that hanjeli-moringa cookies contain protein(9.14%),fat(24.67%),carbohydrates(61.62%),crude fibre(4.85%),and energy(505.01 Kcal).Using the Arrhenius method,the shelf life of hanjeli-moringa cookies was 95.46 days at room temperature and 97.63 days at 20℃.Meanwhile,the shelf life of cookies using the critical moisture content approach was 170.57 *** life is influenced by initial moisture content,critical water content of the product,packaging surface area and permeability,saturated vapour pressure,and slope sorption isotherm *** formulated cookies have significant amounts of nutrients that are acceptable and safe for consumption,with guaranteed desirable sensory *** result of this study shows that hanjeli-moringa cookies can be used as an alternative food for people who need high energy in a practical way of serving or ready to eat.

Tropical cyclone(TC) Cempaka which occurred on 27–29 November 2017 has caused floods, landslides, and strong winds in certain areas of Java Island. Pacitan Regency was the most severely affected by TC Cempaka. The landslide frequency–area distribution curve of event inventory i.e. TC Cempaka can help to understand landslide susceptibility, hazard, vulnerability, and risk. Landslides were identified by using a local government database and by comparing pre-and post-event high-resolution satellite imageries. Field investigation was carried out in March 2018 to November 2018 to verify the landslide location and update the information. Power law, inverse gamma, and double Pareto model were employed to describe the frequency–magnitude of landslide(mLS) triggered by TC Cempaka. The exponent β values of power law, inverse gamma, and double Pareto were 2.6±0.28(fitted for 8.5% of dataset), 2.2±0.08(fitted for 83% of dataset), and 2.3±0.09(best fitted for dataset), respectively. The P-values were 0.51, 0.67, and 0.91 for power law, inverse gamma, and double Pareto, respectively. This study revealed that rollover occurred at 200 and 300 m2 for double Pareto and inverse gamma, respectively. The cutoff points totaled 1096.49 ± 236.44 and 7235.4 ± 1896.7 m2 for double Pareto and power law, respectively. Rollover phenomenon was real and existed in the dataset because it was far from the minimum resolvable size of the landslide that the authors can delineate from the satellite images. mLS for Pacitan was distributed at around 2 to 4. The magnitude of large landslides was 3.2, that of medium landslides was less than 3, and that of small landslides was almost 4. Numerical estimation calculated a fixed mLS=3.01. Comparison analysis of β values obtained from several landslide inventories triggered by heavy rainfall suggests that the variability of β is related to the intensity and duration of rainfall.
