BACKGROUND: There is a considerable paucity with regards to the research available on the quality and quantity of clinical teaching in the national emergency department(ED) setups. With the onset of the age of modern medicine, the outlook towards to the time worn tradition of triage and detailed medical evaluation must be revoked. Despite the variety of programs being conducted in the country, a comparable entity common to all is patients' clinical outcomes which can be measured using simple parameters which can be easily acquired compiling hospital registry ***: A retrospective observational study was conducted in the emergency department of Max Hospital, Saket, New Delhi. A period of 22 months prior to the start of the program and like-wise 22 months after initiation of the program was collected from the hospital registry. The Emergency Medicine program in consideration was the Masters in emergency Medicine(MEM) Program affiliated with George Washington University, NY, USA. Patients of all age groups and gender registering in the Emergency Department and so were all the doctors working in the ED before and after initiation of the ***: An improvement was noted in terms of total admissions through the ED per month, average length of stay of admitted as well as discharged patients; return to ED within 24 hours; leave against medical advice and patient complaints. A reduction was noted in number of discharges from the ED. Despite a numerical worsening on the patient's death in ED a graphical improvement can be noted considering the month wise representation of ***: We can make a coherent conclusion that there is an improvement in the outcome of the entire patient related aspects in the Emergency Department considering the all two time frames included in the study. Hevea brasiliensis is a commercially cultivated species for its natural rubber（NR） latex in South East Asian countries. To meet the ever-increasing demand, NR cultivation has been extended to non-traditional regions due to the limited scope of further expansion in traditional rubbergrowing areas in India. These areas are often confronted with various abiotic stresses, especially high and low temperatures, which cause reduction in plant growth, thereby increasing its uneconomical immaturity period. Eighteen wild Hevea accessions along with two modern clones RRII203 and PB 235 and two check clones RRIM 600 and Haiken 1 were evaluated in the early mature growth *** site was at Nagrakata, West Bengal, the sub-Himalayan cold-prone region of India. In Hevea, crop production is governed by two major factors, growth-vigor and production capacity. Growth-vigor is of special importance because the production of rubber is a process linked with the early growth of the plant, which results in early tappability and early economic gains. The genotypes exhibited highly significant clonal differences（P = 0.05） for all the growth traits. Tappability percentage in the seventh year, ranged from 0.33 %（AC 3074, AC 3075, AC 3293） to 89.67 %（RO 2727）. The most vigorously growing accession（RO2727） reached tappabile girth early in the seventh year when the girth of plant ranged from 22.38 cm（AC 3293） to53.12 cm（RO 2727）. The general mean was 43.32 cm, and the similar growth trend was exhibited by these accessions in the tenth year also. Annual girth increment（cm a-1） over3 years ranged from 1.81 cm（AC 3075） to 6.80 cm（RO2727）. The mean winter girth increment（cm a-1） over4 years ranged from 0.13 cm（AC 3075） to 0.96 cm（RO2727） as compared to the check clone RRIM 600（1.11 cm）and Haiken 1（1.10 cm）. Introduction: Undetected refractive errors constitute a health problem among school children who cannot take advantage of educational opportunities. The authors studied the prevalence of refractive errors in school children aged 5 to 15 at CHU-IOTA. Patients and Method: This is a prospective, descriptive cross-sectional study carried out in the ophthalmic-pediatrics department of CHU-IOTA, from October to November 2023. Results: We received 340 school children aged 5 to 15, among whom 111 presented ametropia, i.e. a prevalence of 32.65%. The average age was 11.42 ± 2.75 years and a sex ratio of 0.59. The average visual acuity was 4/10 (range 1/10 and 10/10). We found refractive defects: astigmatism 73.87%, hyperopia 23.87% of cases and myopia 2.25%. The decline in distance visual acuity was the most common functional sign. Ocular abnormalities associated with ametropia were dominated by allergic conjunctivitis (26.13%) and papillary excavation (6.31%) in astigmatics;allergic conjunctivitis (9.01%) and papillary excavation (7.20%) in hyperopic patients;turbid vitreous (0.90%), myopic choroidosis (0.45%) and allergic conjunctivitis (0.45%) in myopes. Conclusion: Refractive errors constitute a reality and a major public health problem among school children.

Introduction: The authors wanted to study the prevalence of ocular trauma in the ophthalmology unit of the CSREF of Kati. Patients and method: This is a retrospective study, covering the period from January to December 2015, carried out in the ophthalmology unit of the CSREF in Kati. Results: The sample consisted of 568 patients, or 6.82% of ophthalmological consultations. Children aged 0 to 14 years accounted for 154 (27.11%) of the trauma cases. Bruises constitute the main circumstance (58.1%) of eye trauma, followed by domestic accidents (15.6%). Closed globe ocular trauma was the main type of trauma (61.6%), followed by ocular adnexal trauma (30.1%) and open globe trauma (8.3%) in which the penetrating wound was the lesion, the least common (2.6%) but the most serious. Medical treatment was the most used therapeutic modality in 82.4% of cases, followed by surgery with 17.6% of cases. The evolution of the lesions after treatment was favorable in 85.6% of cases and unfavorable in 14.4% of cases. Complications were observed in 5.8% of cases and sequelae in 8.6% of cases. Conclusion: Ocular trauma constitutes an important reason for ophthalmological consultation at the CSREF of Kati. The severity of some of these lesions requires frequent recourse to surgery. The complexity of the treatment should encourage us to favor preventive measures.

A major challenge for the management of gene banks is the maintenance of good seed health in the *** germplasm collections >10 000 accessions often have been acquired from different sources over a range of dates,may differ in germination at time of deposition in the gene bank,and may have genetic differences in seed *** major storage variables affecting seed longevity are temperature and seed moisture *** varieties of each pea(Pisum sativus L.),lentil(Lens culinaris Medikus ***),and chickpea(Cicer arietinum L.),were stored at three temperatures;40,20,and 2°C,each with three seed moisture levels of 10.9–13.8%(high),7.9–10.3%(medium),and 7–7.8%(low),in the Australian Temperate Field Crops Collection gene *** longevity at a given storage period was estimated by the corresponding germination percentage for each *** paper is an interim report on seed viability decline in the first seven years of this seed longevity study,in which viability decline towards zero was almost completed in the three seed moisture treatments at 40°C and the 20°C high seed moisture treatment,but had not declined in the other *** longevity positively responded to a reduction in temperature and then to a reduction in seed *** number of days in storage for seed germination decline to 85%(p85),and to 50%(p50) for mean seed viability,are reported by storage/varietal *** p85 and p50 showed significant inverse linear responses with seed moisture at 40°C for pea and lentil varieties,with intra-specific variation for *** long term trial aims to provide informed timing of seed regeneration for accessions in a gene bank.
