COVID-19 in Liver Transplant Recipients-A Series with Successful Recovery

The severe acute respiratory syndrome corona virus-2 (referred to as SARS-CoV-2) pandemic had a great impact on public life in general as well as on populations with pre-existing disease and co-morbidities. Liver transplant and immunosuppressant medication predisposes to more severe disease and is often associated with poor outcome. The clinical features, disease course, treatment and process of modulating the immunosuppression is challenging. Here, we describe the clinical presentation, treatment and outcomes in six liver transplant recipients. Out of those six patients, three had mild, one had moderate and one had severe COVID-19, and one was asymptomatic. The immunosup-pression minimization or withdrawal was done based upon the clinical severity. Consideration of tocilizumab and/or convalescent plasma as well as antivirals i.e. remdesvir done in severe cases. The routine practice of prophylactic anti-coagulation, consideration of repurposed drugs (i.e. teico-planin and doxycycline), and watchful monitoring of asymptomatic recipients helped to achieve an uneventful recovery.

Marinoan glaciation in the Indian subcontinent——Anatomy and global implications

Detailed sedimentological analysis of the Pokaran Boulder Bed,representing the most basal unit of the Neoproterozoic-Lower Cambrian Marwar Supergroup,clearly indicates its glacial *** glacial sediments are interpreted as an ice-contact submarine fan *** on the detrital and inherited zircon population of the Marwar Supergroup sediments and interlayered pyroclastic deposits,a Marinoan cryochron of the Cryogenian Period is envisaged for the Pokaran Boulder *** well-preserved Ediacaran elements in the post-glacial sedimentary succession also support a Cryogenian to Early Cambrian age of the Marwar *** glacial deposition at the base of the Marwar Supergroup strengthens the regional correlation between the studied sediments with the Lesser Himalayan Blaini-Krol-Tal sediments and the Haqf Supergroup of *** available zircon ages and paleomagnetic data of the Malani Igneous suite,along with the Marinoan glacial deposits,detrital zircon ages,and Ediacaran fossil elements of the Marwar Supergroup add significant information to the Neoproterozoic Earth history.

The research involves the addition of 5 vol.%TiB_(2)particles into AA8009 alloy powder to synthesize TiB_(2)/AA8009 composite parts produced via laser powder bed fusion(LPBF).The addition of the TiB_(2)particles causes the TiB_(2)/AA8009 composites with and without annealing have lower compressive strength than AA8009 alloy due to the change of the strengthening *** results further indicated that solid solution strengthening was the main strengthening mechanism of the LPBF AA8009 alloy at room temperature whereas Orowan strengthening became the primary strengthening factor after annealing at 673 *** contrast,Orowan strengthening always remained the main strengthening mechanism for the TiB_(2)/AA8009 composite,irrespective of the annealing *** addition,after annealing of the LPBF parts at 673 K,the compressive yield strength(CYS)of the unblended AA8009 alloy specimens had a~2.5 times greater reduction(from 705±16 to 459±30 MPa)compared to that of the composite TiB_(2)/AA8009 samples(from 466±23 to 368±3 MPa).Therefore,TiB_(2)particles can suppress the drop in yield strength of LPBF AA8009 alloy below 673 K,providing a theoretical and experimental basis for the applications of both LPBF AA8009 and TiB_(2)/AA8009 alloys at low and medium temperatures.

Post-urethroplasty complications in hypospadias repair: a systematic review and meta-analysis comparing, polydioxanone and polyglactin sutures

Background Polyglactin(PG)and polydioxanone(PDS)sutures are extensively used based on the surgeon's *** development of post-reconstruction urethrocutaneous fistula(UCF)is variably attributed to the choice of suture material for *** meta-an alysiscompares complications of hypospadia srepair using PGand PDS *** The systematic review and meta-analysis were performed as per the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses *** authors conducted thorough searches in databases including MEDLINE,EMBASE,CENTRAL,Scopus,Google Scholar,and clinical trial *** measures included UCF,meatal stenosis,wound infection,urethral stricture,glans dehiscence,and overall *** analysis was used with fixed or random-effect models to find the pooled risk ratio and I2 *** The criteria for inclusion were met by five comparative studies with the inclusion of 1244 children *** analysis failed to show a statistically significant difference in the incidence of meatal stenosis,urethral stricture,wound infection,and total complications using PG and PDS ***,it showed a reduction in the incidence of UCF with PDS suture hypospadias repairs(risk ratio=0.66,95%Cl 0.48 to 0.92).Conclusions PDS sutures are associated with decreased incidence of UCF than PG after hypospadias *** incidence of meatal stenosis,urethral stricture,wound infection,and total complications was not affected by the type of suture material used for *** implications This meta-analysis suggests decreased incidence of UCF when PDS sutures are used for hypospadias repair which may impact the choice of suturematerialforrepair.

Effect of Moringa oleifera on semen quality profiles in endangered Teressa goat under tropical humid island ecosystem

Objective:To investigate the effect of Moringa oleifera leaf extract on semen quality parameters in Teressa goat ***:A total of 25 semen samples from six bucks were selected for the *** of 150×10^(6) were incubated in 0,300,500 and 700μg of leaf extract as groupⅠ,Ⅱ,Ⅲ and Ⅳ,*** stored semen samples were analysed for motility,viability,total sperm abnormalities,plasma membrane,acrosomal and nuclear integrities,seminal plasma intracellular enzymes[aspartate aminotransferase(AST),alanine aminotransferase(ALT)and lactate dehydrogenase(LDH)]and total antioxidant capacity(TAC)and spermatozoa malondialdehyde(MDA)and cholesterol efflux in comparison with the control group(groupⅠ)for up to 72 ***:Moringa oleifera leaf extract(500μg/150×10^(6) spermatozoa)-treated semen had significantly higher motility,viability,plasma membrane,acrosomal and nuclear integrities,and TAC(P<0.05),and had significantly lower total sperm abnormalities,AST,ALT,LDH,MDA production and cholesterol efflux compared to those in other Moringa oleifera leaf extract treated(300 or 700μg/150×10^(6) spermatozoa)and control groups at different hours of liquid storage(P<0.05).Semen quality parameters and TAC showed an increasing trend and total sperm abnormalities,MDA production,leakage of intra-cellular enzymes and cholesterol efflux showed a decreasing trend from group Ⅰto group Ⅲand then an opposite trend from group Ⅲ to group Ⅳ at different hours of liquid ***:Moringa oleifera leaf extract 500μg/150×10^(6) spermatozoa can be used for liquid semen preservation in Teressa goat at Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Investigating computational models for diagnosis and prognosis of sepsis based on clinical parameters: Opportunities, challenges, and future research directions

This study investigates the use of computational frameworks for sepsis. We consider two dimensions for investigation - early diagnosis of sepsis (EDS) and mortality prediction rate for sepsis patients (MPS). We concentrate on the clinical parameters on which sepsis diagnosis and prognosis are currently done, including customized treatment plans based on historical data of the patient. We identify the most notable literature that uses computational models to address EDS and MPS based on those clinical parameters. In addition to the review of the computational models built upon the clinical parameters, we also provide details regarding the popular publicly available data sources. We provide brief reviews for each model in terms of prior art and present an analysis of their results, as claimed by the respective authors. With respect to the use of machine learning models, we have provided avenues for model analysis in terms of model selection, model validation, model interpretation, and model comparison. We further present the challenges and limitations of the use of computational models, providing future research directions. This study intends to serve as a benchmark for first-hand impressions on the use of computational models for EDS and MPS of sepsis, along with the details regarding which model has been the most promising to date. We have provided details regarding all the ML models that have been used to date for EDS and MPS of sepsis.

Rhyolites in continental mafic Large Igneous Provinces: Petrology,geochemistry and petrogenesis

We present a detailed review of the petrological and geochemical aspects of rhyolite and associated silicic volcanic rocks(up to 20 vol%of all rocks)reported to date from twelve well known Phanerozoic continental mafic Large Igneous Provinces(LIPs).These typically spread over900℃.Rhyolites formed by significant crustal contribution are characterized by strong negative Nb-Ta anomalies,absence of clinopyroxene phenocrysts,and are likely to have a magma temperature<900℃.Geochemical signatures suggest rhyolite melt generation in the plagioclase stability field with a minor fraction originating from lower crustal depths.A large part of the compositional variability in rhyolites,particularly the SrNd-Pb-O isotope ratios,suggests a significant role of continental crust(upper crustal melting or AFC)in the evolution of these silicic rocks in the continental mafic LIPs.
